Chapter Twenty-Five: Withering Destruction
Dominic arrived at the side of the ship, where Leo had already lowered the vessel and jumped aboard, directing others to bring up water and food.
A group of people had gathered at the ship's edge, eagerly watching Dominic.
The ship was sinking, and they knew that the Pirate Ship could barely hold on. Dominic's order to lower the boat only solidified their fears.
Staying on the ship meant going down with it, so they hoped to follow their leader and escape on the boat.
Dominic ignored them and jumped down with Old Josen, waiting on the boat.
At that moment, Johnson was called over, and the pirate who shouted for him also boarded the ship.
Simultaneously, a number of people rushed out from below deck, gathering at the ship's edge—there were more than a dozen of them.
“Rhein, Joseph, Bell, come down.”
Dominic's eyes glimmered as he selected three individuals and pointed to the boat.
These three were strong fighters and among Dominic's most trusted subordinates.
“Yes, boss.”
The three excitedly jumped down into the boat.
That made eight people; there was still room for six more.
“Boss, take me with you! I can help!” one pirate shouted loudly.
“Captain Dominic, me too! Take me!” another pirate called out as he tried to rush forward.
Dominic ignored them and instead shouted, “Cory, Dafu, Allen, you three get up here.”
The three of them had just finished transporting food and water when Dominic let them aboard the ship.
That made a total of twelve people.
There was still room for two more.
Dominic looked around at the others, his expression somewhat hesitant.
At that moment, a figure climbed onto the ship, ready to jump off, shouting loudly, "The ship is sinking! I can't stay on board!"
The pirate's voice startled everyone, causing them to panic and leap toward the ship.
Bang.
Just as the pirate was about to jump down, a gunshot rang out. The pirate's body jolted, and he fell from the ship after being pushed by Dominic, crashing into the sea.
"Anyone who dares to jump down will be shot," Johnson shouted, aiming his firearm at the people on board.
The pirates stood frozen in place, unsure of what to do.
"Let's go."
Dominic decided not to fill the ship to capacity. He waved his hand, and the pirates began rowing away from the sinking vessel.
"What should we do?"
The ship continued to sink, and all the pirates gathered on the deck, staring at the surface of the sea in sheer panic.
The ship was going down; what were they supposed to do?
"Take down the mast and the planks."
Some of the pirates, experienced in such matters, began chopping at the mast and dismantling the planks. They sought life rings and anything that could provide buoyancy, hoping to find something to cling to in the water.
But even so, after the Pirate Ship completely sank, only a few managed to find floating objects.
Some pirates turned on each other, but certain items couldn't support too many people. In order to ensure their own safety, they began to fight, blood spilling everywhere.
Meanwhile, Dominic had already set sail with other pirates, rowing away into the distance.
"They're killing each other," Johnson frowned.
"This is good; as they injure and bleed, they'll attract that sea creature, allowing us to escape," Leo said with a cruel smile.
"Boss, where are we heading next?" Bell asked Dominic.
"The Merchant Ship is moving away; we can't catch up to them."
Dominic raised his telescope to look into the distance and then frowned, asking, "Does anyone know if there are any islands nearby?"
"There’s a village less than twenty nautical miles from here," Old Josen said as he took out a compass to determine the direction, pointing into the distance. "It's over there."
"Let's go there."
Dominic nodded; twenty nautical miles wasn't far, they could reach it in half an hour.
But just then, Rhein stared blankly at the Surface of the Sea not far away and said, "What is that?"
"Huh?"
The other pirates followed his finger to look at the Water Surface and saw a massive shadow rushing towards them, now less than five meters from the ship.
Bang.
They didn't have time to react before the shadow collided with one of the ships.
Crack.
The ship shattered directly, and those on board were struck as if hit by the vessel itself. Some were killed instantly, others coughed up blood, and some had their bones broken.
“Damn it, it's that fish!” Dominic shouted from a distance.
“They're coming, they're coming!” Old Josen trembled in fear.
“Just wait until you try to run.”
Xiaqiu's eyes glinted with mockery. The fact that they chose to flee rather than face him in battle proved they knew they were no match for him and felt afraid.
Xiaqiu was concerned about encountering powerful pirates. Although he had never seen this Pirate Flag before, he did not underestimate it.
However, their choice to evade only confirmed that they lacked the ability to deal with a sea creature like him.
Their strength could be assessed; they were not much stronger than Moor and his crew.
Xiaqiu opened his mouth wide and swallowed a person whole, crushing him before gulping him down into his belly.
“Run, run!”
Seeing another ship being smashed apart, Dominic shouted urgently, “We need to get out of here!”
“Help! Help!”
The fallen pirate looked at the gaping maw before him, trembling in terror.
But in the next moment, he was swallowed whole by Xiaqiu.
Meanwhile, on Dominic's ship, the crew paddled away toward the distance.
“Think you can escape?”
Xiaqiu ignored the remaining pirate corpses and charged straight toward another ship.
"Here it comes, here it comes."
Old Josen shouted as Johnson raised his Firearms, aiming at Xiaqiu.
Bang, bang.
The bullets struck Xiaqiu's head above the Water Surface, causing the scales to dent slightly with some fine cracks, but they did not break through the scales.
Not to mention the thick hard bones beneath.
In the next moment, Xiaqiu was already close to the ship, crashing into it.
"Die!"
Dominic and Leo leaped from either side, one wielding a machete and the other dual daggers, striking at Xiaqiu's head.
Sizzle.
The three blades landed on Xiaqiu's head; where the machete struck, the scales dented slightly.
The force was immense.
However, where the dual daggers hit, only a white mark remained, without even damaging the scales.
Too weak.
Xiaqiu snorted coldly and charged forward, crashing into the ship.
With a loud crash, the ship splintered apart, sending Dominic and Leo flying.
Thud.
Dominic and Leo both spat out a mouthful of blood, the sound of their bones cracking echoed through the air.
Thud.
After falling into the water, Dominic felt nothing but pain coursing through his body, his arms numb and unable to lift. He tried to steady himself, but as he raised his head, he saw a massive mouth descending upon him.
"No, no!"
Dominic shouted loudly.
But in the next moment, the enormous mouth swallowed him whole, its sharp teeth clamping down and crushing his body before dragging him into its depths.
