After settling the bill, they remained in place.
I raised an eyebrow and asked, "What, do you still want me to pay for you?"
"No need," my sister-in-law scoffed, pulling my brother toward the exit.
My brother patted her hand reassuringly, saying, "It's okay. Which bag do you want? I'll buy it for you."
"Really?" My sister-in-law's eyes lit up.
He nodded.
I smiled and followed them into the store.
My brother handed over his card with flair to the cashier, saying, "Charge it to my card."
"Sure, please wait a moment." The cashier took it, swiped a few times, then handed it back, saying, "Sir, your card has been deactivated."
"What did you say?" My brother was taken aback.
My sister-in-law looked equally shocked. "How could it be deactivated?"
I let out a laugh. "Because the card is with me."
"You..." My brother gritted his teeth. "Sister, what do you mean by that?"
"I mean nothing," I replied with a smile. "Brother, you forgot that you both signed a Guarantee Letter with me. From now on, there will be no financial dealings between us."
"I'm not buying that bag for you."
"You..." His face turned ashen with anger.
My sister-in-law was equally furious. "Wang Yugang, are you even a man? You promised to buy me a bag; now you can't? How embarrassing!"
"Buy it, buy it! I'll get it for you," my brother quickly nodded in agreement.
At that moment, our parents walked in.
Seeing this scene, my mother frowned and said, "A bag costing over three hundred thousand is too expensive."
"Who is buying this?"
"I..." my sister-in-law spoke softly.
My mother furrowed her brows even tighter. "Suqin, that bag is too expensive; you shouldn't buy it."
"Mom!" my sister-in-law shouted, her eyes turning red. "You're so biased! You bought Zixuan a bag but won't buy me one."
"You all are being unreasonable."
As she spoke, she burst into tears.
My brother quickly hugged her, trying to comfort her. "Don't cry; I'll buy you one."
He then turned to me, gritting his teeth. "Sister, give the bag you bought to your sister-in-law."
"It's just a bag; don't be so stingy."
I scoffed. "Whether I'm stingy or not has nothing to do with you."
"You..." He was so angry that he raised his hand as if to hit me.
The store clerk quickly intervened. "Sir, please calm down."
"You all saw it; he wants to hit me." I took out my phone and called the police.
Half an hour later, our whole family was taken to the police station.
I recounted the entire situation and then said, "I asked them to sign a Guarantee Letter because they kept asking me for money, and I didn't want to give it to them, so I resorted to this measure."
"But I didn't expect them to be so shameless, knowing my card was suspended and still insisting I use it to buy things for them."
"When I refused, they tried to hit me."
"I had no choice but to call the police."
The officer nodded in understanding. "Got it." He then turned to my brother and the others. "Do you have anything to add?"
"Yes," my brother said through gritted teeth. "She is the one who suspended my credit card."
"Oh?" The police officer looked at me with confusion.
I smiled faintly and handed the Guarantee Letter to the officer.
"Officer, this is the Guarantee Letter they made me sign."
"It clearly states that I will have no financial dealings with them in the future."
"I stopped their cards; is there a problem with that?"
"No," the officer shook his head.
Upon hearing this, my sister-in-law's face turned pale.
She finally realized she had fallen into a trap.
I looked at her and smiled slightly.
She was still too inexperienced to challenge me.
After leaving the police station, I booked a flight back to Shanghai.
At the airport, I received a message from my sister-in-law.
"Zixuan, I'm sorry, I was wrong to treat you that way."
"I hope you aren't angry."
I smirked and immediately blocked her on WeChat.
The next moment, I received a message from my brother.
"Sister, what are you doing?"
"Why did you delete Suqin from WeChat?"
"Add her back quickly."
