"No! You can't die!" Li Ming's eyes were filled with tears as he gritted his teeth, suppressing any sound, focusing intently on channeling Spiritual Energy into Wang Qiang's body.
At that moment, a cold female voice came from the doorway. "Stop showing off your half-baked skills; let me handle this."
Li Ming and Master Han both looked up at the entrance. A beautiful woman stood there, holding a bloodied dagger, clearly having just come from a fierce battle. Li Ming felt a sense of familiarity and, upon closer inspection, realized it was his neighbor, Chen Yao.
"Chen Yao?" Li Ming exclaimed in surprise. "What are you doing here?"
Chen Yao smirked coldly. "That's not for you to ask. Now, let me take care of his wounds."
Li Ming hesitated for a moment but then stepped aside. Chen Yao crouched down, placing the dagger aside and pulling out a small vial containing a light blue liquid from her pocket. She gently poured the liquid onto Wang Qiang's wounds and then placed her hand softly on his chest, closing her eyes to begin chanting a spell.
A soft glow emanated from her hands as the light blue liquid quickly seeped into Wang Qiang's wounds, which began to heal slowly. Li Ming and Master Han watched in astonishment; this healing technique and power exceeded their imagination.
"How is she doing this?" Li Ming whispered to Master Han.
Master Han frowned in thought. "This must be an advanced Spiritual Energy healing technique; her strength is impressive."
A few minutes later, Chen Yao stood up, and Wang Qiang's breathing had stabilized; his complexion was no longer so pale. She turned to Li Ming and said, "He's fine for now, but he still needs rest."
"Thank you, Chen Yao," Li Ming said sincerely. "How did you learn all this?"
Chen Yao smiled lightly. "We'll talk about that later; right now we need to leave here; the Demon might discover us at any moment."
Master Han nodded. "She's right; we need to find a safer place quickly."
The three of them supported Wang Qiang and hurried southward. Along the way, Chen Yao skillfully led them to avoid several patrols of Demons. Her movements were as agile as a cat, leaving Li Ming impressed by her skills.
"Who exactly are you, Chen Yao?" Li Ming couldn't help but ask.
Chen Yao turned to glance at him, a hint of mystery in her eyes. "I'm just an ordinary person. This isn't the time for such discussions."
Li Ming was filled with confusion, but now was not the moment to press for answers. They had finally arrived at a hidden underground shelter, where a number of terrified citizens had already gathered. Upon seeing Li Ming and the others enter, hope flickered in their eyes.
"Excuse me, is this the shelter?" Li Ming stepped forward to inquire.
A middle-aged man nodded. "Yes, we are hiding here, hoping to escape the Demon’s attacks."
Li Ming exchanged glances with Master Han before saying, "We are also here to take refuge; please let us in."
The citizens parted to make way, and the four quickly entered the shelter. Inside was a rudimentary underground space, but at least it provided temporary safety.
Li Ming and Master Han settled Wang Qiang in a corner and began to reassure the other frightened citizens. Gradually, everyone’s emotions stabilized, and the atmosphere in the shelter became somewhat lighter.
"Li Ming, what should we do next?" Master Han asked quietly.
Li Ming pondered for a moment before responding, "We can't stay hidden here forever; we need to find a way to contact the outside world and seek more help."
Master Han nodded. "You're right; we need more strength to fight against these Demons."
Just then, a citizen suddenly shouted in terror, "They're coming! The Demons are here!"
Li Ming and Master Han sprang to their feet, ready to face the new challenge. The shelter's door was slammed open by a powerful force as several Demons charged in, their eyes filled with madness and a thirst for blood.
"Hold the entrance!" Master Han shouted as he swung his sword towards the Demons. His blade danced through the narrow space, swiftly taking down several of them.
Chen Yao quickly joined the battle, her movements agile and deadly, each strike accurately hitting the vital points of the Demons. Li Ming supported the weakened Wang Qiang, trying to move him to a safer location.
"Li Ming, watch out!" Master Han suddenly shouted as a Demon launched a surprise attack from behind, its blade glinting ominously.
Li Ming swiftly turned and blocked with his short sword, but the difference in strength caused him to feel a sharp pain. Just then, Chen Yao dashed in like a bolt of lightning, slicing down and bringing the Demon crashing to the ground.
"Thank you, Chen Yao," Li Ming gasped.
"Don't thank me; we're not out of danger yet," Chen Yao replied coldly before returning to the fray.
In a corner of the city, the sudden assault by the Demons plunged the entire area into chaos. The streets were filled with explosions and cries of battle, buildings collapsed in flames, and citizens scattered in all directions, countless innocents falling victim to the Demons' slaughter.
On the other side of the city, within the Hidden Realm, the Three Great Families gathered in a grand palace. Before them was a massive crystal screen displaying scenes of destruction in Southern Capital. Flames and smoke billowed as Demons rampaged through the streets, leaving devastation in their wake.
Zhang Tian stood up furiously, slamming his hand on the table. "These Demon scum! Didn't we say they couldn't attack?"
His voice echoed through the hall, filled with anger and helplessness. The other family leaders wore grim expressions as they watched the horrific scenes on the screen, their hearts equally filled with rage and concern.
"Zhang Tian, we must remain calm," Family Head Li Peng said in a low voice but with a hint of determination. "Now is not the time for blame; we must unite to fight against these Demons."
"Unite?" Zhang Tian scoffed. "How many times have we united? Each time we talk about it, but what happens? These Demons breach our defenses time and again; this time they even attacked Southern Capital directly!"
"Zhang Tian, calm down," spoke Family Head Wang Zhen from across the table. "What we need now is strategy, not accusations. The Demons' actions are clearly premeditated; we need to find their leader and cut off the root."
"Wang Zhen, it's easy for you to say that; what’s your strategy?" Zhang Tian's anger remained unabated. "Every time it's just talk; what about action? This time we've suffered greatly in Southern Capital; are we supposed to wait until the entire city is destroyed before we act?"
"Zhang Tian, now is not the time for infighting!" Li Peng frowned tightly, a flash of anger in his eyes. "We must focus our strength and face this crisis together."
"Concentrate our forces? You always talk about concentrating our forces, but how much effort have you, the Li Family, and the Wang Family actually put in?" Zhang Tian said angrily. "My people have already sacrificed too much; we can't go on like this!"
At that moment, a cold female voice interrupted their argument. "What’s the point of arguing at a time like this?"
The three turned to see the source of the voice: a woman in a red robe standing at the doorway. Her gaze was calm yet resolute, and she held a dagger in her hand, stained with blood, clearly having just come from a fierce battle. She was Su Xue, the youngest head of the Hidden Realm.
"Su Xue, what are you doing here?" Li Peng asked in surprise.
"It seems you old fools can't handle this, so I came to see if I could help," Su Xue replied coldly. "What we need now is action, not endless arguments."
"Head of the the Su Family, what do you mean?" Wang Zhen asked with a frown.
"My meaning is quite simple." Su Xue stepped forward, her gaze piercing. "The Demons' actions are clearly premeditated. We can no longer remain on the defensive; we must take the initiative. Right now, we need unified command to concentrate all our forces and launch a full counterattack against the Demon race."
Zhang Tian scoffed. "You make it sound easy, but who will unify command? You?"
"Why can't it be me?" Su Xue met his gaze fearlessly. "The the Su Family has been actively responding to the threat of the Demons; I have enough experience and capability."
"You?" Zhang Tian said dismissively. "A young woman has no right to unify command."
"Enough, Zhang Tian," Li Peng interrupted. "This is not the time to debate qualifications; what we need is action. Su Xue is right; we need unified command."
