Jelo struggled to stand up, his legs trembling, and the image of the Black Worm in his mind sent waves of intense dizziness through him. Just then, Shan let out a muffled groan, his body suddenly lurching forward. A bullet pierced his right shoulder, blood instantly spraying out, the red liquid dripping down his arm and pooling on the floor of the compartment. 0

Jelo froze, staring in horror at Shan's wound, his ears filled with the sounds of gunfire and the shouts of his comrades. Adu screamed frantically, as if driven by some indescribable force, wildly pulling the trigger and sweeping his gun towards the front. However, it was clear that his bullets were completely off target, failing to hit the large white truck or threaten their attackers. The bullets uselessly struck the surrounding bushes and dirt, kicking up clouds of dust and fallen leaves. 0

Amidst this chaos, Ian displayed a rare moment of clarity. He calmly picked up his gun, quickly checked the magazine, then turned around to provide cover for Shan. His gaze was stern, his movements decisive and swift; bullets fired from his weapon accurately suppressed the enemy's firepower, buying Shan a moment to breathe. 0

Shan clutched his shoulder, screaming in pain, his voice filled with terror and agony. Yet soon enough, his cries morphed into a frenzied roar. It was as if the pain awakened some primal instinct deep within him; disregarding the blood still dripping and the searing pain spreading through his body, he fiercely picked up the gun that had fallen to the ground, his eyes bloodshot with rage. 0

"Die! Die!" Shan bellowed, a wild light flashing in his eyes that was starkly different from before. Ignoring his shoulder injury, he opened fire again at the advancing enemies as if he wanted to unleash all his pain and fear upon them. Bullets erupted from his gun with fury and despair; whether they hit their targets or not no longer mattered to him—he had completely plunged into the abyss of this mad battle. 0

Jelo's hands trembled with anxiety and fear as he forced himself to calm down. Gripping the cold metal of the gun in his palm, he took a deep breath, trying to bury his inner terror. Then he raised the gun sharply and fired into the chaos ahead. The bullet flew from the barrel, cutting through the air with all his confusion and despair aimed at that endless turmoil. 0

Just as he focused on shooting, Shan suddenly collapsed beside him, his body weakly hitting the floor of the compartment. Jelo immediately turned to look at Shan's shoulder where blood was gushing out uncontrollably; thick blood quickly soaked both Shan's and Jelo's clothes, warm and sticky against Jelo's arms and chest. 0

"Shan! Wake up! Don't fall asleep!" Jelo's voice trembled with fear as he anxiously called out, trying to pull Shan back from that fading consciousness. His hands shook as he grasped Shan's shoulder, attempting to keep him awake. 0

However, Shan's gaze began to drift; his eyes became unfocused and vacant as if he were gradually losing touch with reality. His breathing grew shallow and rapid; his lips quivered as if he wanted to say something but ultimately only emitted a low groan as he leaned weakly against Jelo. 0

Seeing this scene, Ian immediately showed a look of disgust and anger. He cursed vehemently and shouted, "Jelo! For fuck’s sake, shoot! Don’t worry about that worthless piece of trash!" 0

Jelo was stunned by Ian's shout, struggling internally. He wanted to save Shan; he didn’t want to watch his comrade die like this. But Ian’s command was so forceful and desperate. The frenzy and bloodshed of battle left him feeling lost; he didn’t know what choice to make as he helplessly watched Shan’s consciousness fade away bit by bit, life’s light dimming. 0

"I said shoot now, Jelo!" Ian roared again, his voice filled with fervor and cruelty. 0

Jelo's heart felt as if it were torn in two; one half was filled with compassion and friendship for Shan, while the other half was consumed by the harsh reality of battle and the instinct for survival. Ultimately, he was overwhelmed by Ian's roar and the encroaching danger around him. He closed his eyes in pain, forcing himself to aim his gun forward once more, beginning to fire, transforming all his inner struggles and despair into bullets that poured out frantically. 0

Beside him, Shan groaned weakly in his ear. With each passing second, that sound grew fainter, like a thin thread about to snap, ready to vanish amidst the chaos of the battlefield. 0

Ian's voice remained loud and powerful amidst the turmoil. He shouted, "Jelo! Adu! Cover me!" After issuing the command, he quickly crawled over to Shan's side, moving with swift decisiveness. 0

Jelo and Adu immediately reacted. Despite the fear and confusion still gnawing at them, they followed Ian's instructions, aiming their guns at the enemy outside, desperately covering Ian's actions. Their bullets rained down wildly, suppressing attacks from all directions as they shielded Ian in this chaotic battleground while he undertook his mysterious and bizarre task. 0

Ian reached Shan's side, looking expressionlessly at the boy on the verge of losing consciousness. He reached into his inner clothing and pulled out a transparent vial. Inside it wriggled a black worm, moving restlessly—a long and eerie creature that resembled something from the depths of hell, exuding an unmistakable aura of malevolence. 0

Leaning down close to Shan's ear, Ian spoke in a cold tone, "Trash! Do you want to offer your last life to the Black Rope God?" 0

Shan's consciousness began to blur; his vision became scattered and hazy as his body trembled from excessive blood loss. Though he could no longer clearly perceive his surroundings, Ian's voice pierced through like a sharp needle, resonating with a certain power deep within him. 0

In his mind, images of the Black Rope God began to surface—an existence akin to a nightmare, black ropes entwining his consciousness, silently infiltrating his thoughts and seizing what little sanity remained. A voice that did not belong to him echoed within him—deep and powerful—repeating insistently: "For the Black Rope God, one must give everything..." 0

This voice grew stronger, occupying Shan's thoughts as if pushing him toward an inevitable conclusion. A flicker of madness suddenly flashed in his dazed eyes as he murmured softly, "For the Black Rope God... one must give everything..." 0

Ian revealed a cold smile; he knew that Shan had completely succumbed and could no longer resist the call of that voice within him—becoming just like him. Slowly, he brought the vial closer to Shan's lips and opened the cap. Immediately, the black worm agilely crawled out and slipped into Shan’s mouth. 0

Shan’s body convulsed violently; an unusual light burst forth from his eyes. His consciousness rapidly awakened in pain, but this awakening was not his own—it was dominated by some terrifying force. 0
