Ye Xiaohan could not lay a hand on Liu Susu, but that did not mean she couldn't use her words.
Although she feared the power of the Liu Family, the Liu Family also dared not act too brazenly. Behind Ye Xiaohan stood Gu Bei, and they would not truly side with Liu Susu against him.
Thus, while Ye Xiaohan had been enduring for a long time and might continue to do so in the future, there were moments like today when Liu Susu dared to confront her directly; she would not hold back.

And so, this scene unfolded.
Ye Xiaohan's words struck at Liu Susu's vulnerabilities. What terrified her most was the thought of Liu Chancellor dragging her away for a lesson. What she hated most was the inescapable marriage with Gu Rong.
In a moment of impulse, fearing that the rumors were true and that Gu Bei had truly died outside, she hastily chose a man to marry. Ever since Gu Bei returned, she had constantly compared him with Gu Rong, regretting why she hadn't waited just one more year.
The issue of identity loomed over Liu Susu like a mountain, and she tried her best to think of happy things, like the possibility of a blissful life together with Gu Bei after he changed his mind.
She deliberately ignored all unpleasant matters, such as the fact that she was still a married woman.
Now publicly pointed out by Ye Xiaohan, Liu Susu felt both ashamed and furious. However, given that Ye Xiaohan spoke nothing but the truth, she momentarily found herself at a loss for how to retort and stood there dumbfounded.
When Liu Susu finally came to her senses and realized she had been publicly insulted by a lowly woman, she was infuriated.
"Bitch, you have some nerve!" Liu Susu shouted. "What gives you the right to meddle in my affairs?"
In Liu Susu's mind, Ye Xiaohan came from a lowly background, even inferior to her family's maid. A woman like this should have immediately knelt down to pay her respects upon encountering someone of her stature.
Yet Ye Xiaohan not only failed to flatter her but also relentlessly belittled and insulted her!
"Oh, you've reminded me," Ye Xiaohan sneered. "I really shouldn't concern myself with your affairs; conversing with a vain and fickle woman like you is beneath my dignity!"
With that, Ye Xiaohan didn't even spare Liu Susu a glance as she walked past her.
She couldn't believe it. Liu Susu thought that Ye Xiaohan would be foolish enough to do anything to her in public!
Liu Susu initially intended to remind Ye Xiaohan of her lowly origins, that a servant should not meddle in the affairs of her master. Unexpectedly, Ye Xiaohan seized on her words and completely trampled Liu Susu underfoot.
The thought that Ye Xiaohan looked down on her, believing that speaking with her was beneath her dignity, made Liu Susu so furious that her eyes nearly turned red.
"You, a bitch, have no right to look down on me!" Liu Susu thought about rushing over and slapping Ye Xiaohan, demanding she take back those words.
Only she, Liu Susu, had the right to disdain Ye Xiaohan; no one else could ever look down on her!
However, it was only because Ye Xiaohan was feeling melancholic after parting with Gu Bei that she had been slow on the street. Now that Ye Xiaohan truly intended to leave, how could Liu Susu possibly stop her?
Before long, Ye Xiaohan disappeared from Liu Susu's sight. Maintaining her status, Liu Susu would never run after her. She had come out merely to put on a show for Gu Bei, demonstrating how deeply she felt.
Thus, she hadn't brought many attendants, just two maidservants. But those two maidservants were no match for Ye Xiaohan. Ye Xiaohan's dedication to physical training and improving her fitness made her remarkably strong compared to these delicate women of ancient times.
The two maidservants returned empty-handed and were naturally scolded harshly by Liu Susu, who even struck a few of them. Considering they were in public, Liu Susu dared not be too excessive.
"You can't even stop a single person? Just wait until we get back; I'll show you how to deal with this!"
Liu Susu shot a glare at the maidservants and turned back toward home.
All the way there, Ye Xiaohan's contemptuous expression kept flashing before her eyes. The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. As soon as she entered the Liu Family residence, she rushed in tears to complain to Liu Chancellor and his wife.
Unexpectedly, her parents, who usually doted on her, did not side with her this time. Lady Liu merely sighed and advised her not to provoke Ye Xiaohan any further or get involved with anyone related to Gu Bei.
Liu Chancellor then scolded her severely and punished her by sending her back to reflect on her actions.
"How many times have I warned you not to entangle yourself with Gu Bei? You are no longer Gu Bei's fiancée but Gu Rong's wife. As someone else's wife, constantly pursuing other men is utterly disgraceful!"
Liu Chancellor was infuriated by Liu Susu. This daughter of his was simply too disobedient. Every evening, she would cause trouble, never giving him a moment of peace!
Liu Susu couldn't believe it. "Father! I was humiliated by that Bitch in front of the entire street, and you still side with an outsider. Who is your real daughter?"
"If you weren't my daughter, I would have stopped caring about you long ago!" Liu Chancellor blurted out. He truly couldn't understand how everyone in the family was so clever, yet this daughter was so foolish!
Upon hearing this, Liu Susu's tears flowed freely as she slammed the door and stormed out. "You would rather help an outsider than your own daughter! I want to see what’s so great about Ye Xiaohan that has both of you enchanted!"
Without looking back, she rushed outside. Liu Chancellor quickly sent someone to follow her, fearing she might cause more trouble. Fortunately, the servant soon reported back that Liu Susu had only returned to her room, which eased his worries.
Liu Susu locked herself in her room, refusing to eat or drink, ignoring anyone who tried to talk to her. The Liu Family found themselves helpless against her tantrum and could only let her be.
It wasn't until evening that Liu Susu seemed to calm down and no longer appeared furious.
On the other hand, Ye Xiaohan completely disregarded this little episode. To her, Liu Susu held no significance; she couldn't even be bothered to feel angry.
After winning the argument, Ye Xiaohan left and didn’t give Liu Susu another thought as she returned to work. Compared to Liu Susu, the glimmering silver was what truly made her happy.
The business at the tavern was thriving more than ever, and Ye Xiaohan realized that if things continued like this, opening a branch store would be necessary; they simply couldn't accommodate so many customers.
However, she didn't have the energy to invest in opening a new location. She was just a human being with flesh and blood who could tire out; she wasn't a machine capable of working non-stop for twenty-four hours.
Should she transform the tavern into a place selling unique flavors and specialty dishes? While this might attract fewer customers, those who came would be willing to spend money, ensuring good profits and saving her time.
Yet unlike her Ready-to-Wear Store, while the food at the tavern was decent, it couldn’t compare to the best restaurants in the capital. Changing the business model didn’t guarantee success.
Moreover, altering the business model wasn't something that could be resolved in just a day or two. What she lacked most was time. If she truly had that time, there would be no need to change the business model; opening a branch store would be much more convenient.
Once Ye Xiaohan got into work mode, she easily immersed herself in it. With so much to do, she often worked late into the night, exhausted enough to fall asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.
Ye Xiaohan had finally finished this batch of clothing design sketches and lay down on her bed to rest; it was already late at night.
Perhaps she was too tired, as she found it difficult to sleep well that night. She tossed and turned in bed for a while before finally succumbing to the overwhelming drowsiness and closing her eyes.
However, as soon as she closed her eyes, she was plunged into a long and heavy dream that made her restless.
In her hazy state, she felt an intense heat in the dream. It was as if there were flames burning, melting the dream into something like cotton candy that spread out on the ground.
"It's so hot," Ye Xiaohan mumbled half-awake, feeling thirsty and wanting water.
But when she woke up, she realized something was terribly wrong.
The heat from her dream had seeped into reality, where bright flames were glaringly shining.
A fire?
Ye Xiaohan was startled and quickly jumped out of bed to check the situation.
What she saw made her heart sink.
The fire had completely engulfed her room, raging fiercely all around her.
