Xia Qing and Liu Yang wandered around the city, causing quite a stir wherever they went.
When people heard that a restaurant was going to open near the Dye House, their interest was piqued. This was especially true for those who had witnessed the improvements made to the Dye House and for those who had previously bet that Ye Xiaohan's shop would close before it even opened.
Regardless of their intentions, everyone was intrigued by the restaurant. The purpose of the promotion was to capture their interest, while retaining customers would be left to the chefs in the kitchen.
On their way back in the evening, both of them were bouncing with excitement.
"Sister-in-law, so many people came to ask about our restaurant today that we ran out of flyers!" Liu Yang said happily. With such an effect from just one outing, if they went out a few more times, wouldn’t it lead to a bustling scene?
Ye Xia Qing nodded and asked, "Should we bring more flyers tomorrow?"
"No need," Ye Xiaohan explained. "Our restaurant is only so big, and there’s a limit to how many guests we can accommodate at once. Sending out too many flyers would be wasteful. As long as we can ensure a good flow of customers in the first three days, everyone’s attention will shift to the dishes afterward."
In an era without photocopiers, hiring someone to write those flyers had cost her quite a bit. Although it was money well spent, they still needed to be frugal since their savings were running low.
After Ye Xiaohan finished speaking, Liu Yang realized this as well and fell silent.
In the following days, Liu Yang and Xia Qing distributed flyers throughout the city to promote their restaurant. Ye Xiaohan focused on final confirmations to ensure that the dishes and service would meet expectations.
As soon as Liu Yang returned home one day, he walked in to find Gu Da playing with Liu Qi.
"Brother Gu! You're here!" Liu Yang exclaimed joyfully as he rushed over to greet Gu Da.
Gu Da looked Liu Yang up and down and chuckled, "Haven't seen you in a while; you’ve gotten as dark as a piece of charcoal! But it seems you’ve grown a bit taller."
"Oh, really?" Liu Yang completely ignored the first part of his comment and gestured with his hands excitedly. "No wonder I’ve felt like the air I breathe has been especially fresh lately; turns out I’m getting closer to the sky!"
Gu Da laughed but didn’t engage in banter with him. "Where's Miss Ye? She hasn’t come back yet?"
"She still needs some time; after checking the kitchen, she has to train the second one, but it won't be long." Liu Yang was sent back by Ye Xiaohan to look after the Gu Family.
With Bai Rong'er and Liu Qi around, Ye Xiaohan could only hire someone to help. However, due to a lack of funds, she couldn't afford full-time help and had to ask Aunt Zhang from the neighborhood to come over. That evening, she and Liu Yang returned home first to take over.
Gu Da sighed, "Miss Ye is truly resilient."
The previous challenges at Peach Blossom Studio hadn't crushed her; instead, they made her more determined. To be honest, Gu Da initially thought Ye Xiaohan was unworthy of their general, but now he found himself gradually moved by her strength, reflecting on whether he had been too hasty in his judgment.
"By the way, Brother Gu, did my elder brother send you here?" Liu Yang asked as he pulled on Gu Da's sleeve. "How has my brother been lately? Has he asked about me?"
Liu Qi tugged at Liu Yang's pants, wanting to climb up. "Qi also misses big brother! I've been very good lately; is big brother good too?"
"Of course not as good as you! You're the best!" Liu Yang picked up the stubborn Liu Qi, who refused to let go. If he didn't lift her soon, his pants would be pulled down by this little rascal's surprising strength.
Gu Da watched the siblings with a hint of a smile in his eyes. "It was the general who sent me here; I brought you some things." He pulled out an oil paper package from his pocket and handed it to Liu Yang.
Liu Qi was quick and snatched the package before Liu Yang could reach it, holding it high with a grin so that Liu Yang couldn't grab it.
Liu Yang coaxed her for a moment, but Liu Qi wouldn't listen. With a huff, he set her down on the ground.
"Not Point, you've learned to bully people now!" Liu Yang snatched the oil paper package from Liu Qi's hands and opened it to reveal five one-hundred-tael silver notes inside.
Gu Da said, "The general knows that your household funds are running low and asked me to bring some over. He also told me to let you know that you should spend where necessary without being frugal. If you run out, just tell me; I will report back."
"My brother is truly timely!" Liu Yang exclaimed excitedly while holding the silver notes. "With this money, my sister-in-law won't have to hold back anymore; she can go all out. Ah, it's all my fault for being useless and not earning money while making my sister-in-law worry about our expenses."
It was rare for Gu Da to see Liu Yang so dejected, so he offered some comforting words: "You've already done well to have the abilities you do now. Miss Ye wouldn't want you to think like this; what she hopes most is for you and Qi to live happily."
"I know," Liu Yang quickly perked up. "I'll just complain in front of Brother Gu; I won't do that in front of Sister-in-law! You mustn't tell my brother!"
Gu Da agreed with a smile, even though he had no intention of telling Gu Bei about this matter.
After being slightly dazed for a moment, Gu Da had other matters to attend to and could not stay long, so he quickly left.
When Ye Xiaohan returned home, it was already dark. Liu Qi and Liu Yang were sitting side by side on the doorstep like two guard dogs.
As soon as they saw her, their eyes lit up, and they quickly stood up, brushing off their clothes and rushing towards her.
"Sister-in-law, you're back! It's time to eat!" Liu Qi exclaimed as he jumped into Ye Xiaohan's arms, his stomach growling in agreement.
Ye Xiaohan held Liu Qi's hand and said to Liu Yang, "It's already late. If I come back late, you guys can eat first. No need to wait for me."
Children should not skip meals as it affects their growth.
Liu Yang simply smiled without responding. Ye Xiaohan knew in her heart that even if he agreed now, it would just be casual talk; they would still wait for her as usual.
Although she did not approve of their behavior, she felt a bit touched that they actually did it.
Liu Qi swung Ye Xiaohan's hand back and forth excitedly and said brightly, "I'm not hungry! I'll wait for Sister-in-law to come home for dinner!"
"Good boy," Ye Xiaohan praised as she squeezed his chubby hand.
Liu Qi beamed at the compliment and proudly showed off to Liu Yang.
Once inside, Liu Yang eagerly took out the silver notes and handed them to Ye Xiaohan.
"This just arrived from Big Brother via Brother Gu. He said you shouldn't hold back; spend as much as you need. If it's not enough, he'll send more!" Liu Yang boasted on behalf of his brother while also praising Gu Bei.
Ye Xiaohan accepted the silver notes and complained, "This person is really something. We've been through this several times already. He doesn't need to worry about us; he should take care of himself. His situation is much more dangerous, and he needs money everywhere."
Seeing Gu Bei in such a perilous situation still putting himself first, Ye Xiaohan felt a warm current rise within her.
Liu secretly glanced at the smile that couldn't be suppressed at the corners of Ye Xiaohan's lips and chuckled to himself. Sister-in-law was indeed being contradictory; she clearly missed her brother-in-law but always pretended not to care about his clothes. Even he found it hard to watch.
With this sum of money, the Liu family could finally stop living so frugally. However, Ye Xiaohan was reluctant to spend too much; she tried her best not to touch it, taking only one note while neatly placing the rest into the money box, pressing it down to the bottom.

Just his terrifying title was enough to annoy Ye Xiaohan. Moreover, whenever he visited, he brought along a large entourage that crowded her restaurant and disrupted the craftsmen's work.
