At this point, Ye Xiaohan had shown great sincerity.
On the other hand, moved by Ye Xiaohan's determination, the Dye House Owner reignited his fighting spirit.
"Alright!" he said. "Since Boss Ye has this confidence, I will risk my life to accompany you. I believe in you this time. I’m all in; the worst that can happen is that we end up where we are now. If it still doesn’t work out, I’ll just go back to farming!"
Ye Xiaohan smiled and replied, "Then the Shopkeeper will be disappointed; you won't be able to farm anymore. We need to discuss our next plan; time is short, and we need to implement it quickly."
The issue with the Dye House had to be resolved before the completion of the tavern. The Dye House Owner's involvement was urgent as well. If the pollution problem wasn't addressed soon, the Government Office would no longer have the patience to wait.
"What does Boss Ye plan to do?" he asked, a mix of anticipation and fear in his voice.
Ye Xiaohan shared her formulated plan: "This matter requires the Shopkeeper's strong support. I would like to ask you to temporarily close the Dye House. Using the technology I've developed for remediation, we can clean it from top to bottom and then reopen with a bang!"
"Sounds good!" the Dye House Owner agreed readily. "I'll follow your lead, Boss Ye. After all, my Dye House has been forced to close anyway; even when open, business has been poor. It makes sense to shut it down for a while."
Trusting those who are trustworthy and being wary of those who are not is key. Since he had decided to cooperate with Ye Xiaohan, he would fully support her actions. Only by both parties putting in their utmost effort could they achieve a successful collaboration.
If both sides were deceitful, they would not accomplish anything significant.
Although Ye Xiaohan had predicted he would agree based on the information she gathered, hearing his trust still moved her.
"Rest assured, Shopkeeper; I will handle this beautifully and ensure you do not incur any losses."
She was confident in the technology she had developed and believed this time would surely lead to great success.
The Dye House Owner said, "With Boss Ye's word, I will await good news!"
He continued, "Since we've decided to cooperate, let's clearly define our profit-sharing arrangement first to avoid any disputes later."
Regarding this matter, Ye Xiaohan had few demands. After all, the elaborate plan she devised was initially aimed at resolving the issues of the Dye House.
In Ye Xiaohan's view, addressing the pollution from the Dye House was not only for her own benefit but also a way to do a favor for her neighbors.
Of course, she anticipated that the Dye House Owner would not see it that way. If the pollution problem were resolved, it would alleviate a significant burden for him.
The favor owed would be considerable, essentially allowing him to gain a substantial advantage without cost.
Naturally, the Dye House Owner would not be so greedy; he would offer a portion of the profits as compensation for their collaboration. Given the size of the Dye House, he wouldn't mind paying a little for its revival.
What seemed like a small amount to him would be a fortune for Ye Xiaohan at this moment.
Ye Xiaohan smiled and said, "I'm not doing this solely for the Dye House; it's more for my own restaurant. As for the profit share, I've only contributed some technical expertise. I don't want to be overly greedy; whatever I receive will satisfy me."
"That won't do!" The Dye House Owner quickly dismissed her statement. "If you can truly resolve my Dye House's pollution issues, I'd be willing to give you half!"
It seemed he had made up his mind. "Alright, it's settled! We'll split the profits fifty-fifty. From now on, any silver earned by this Dye House will be shared with you, Boss Ye!"
This figure far exceeded Ye Xiaohan's expectations, and she was genuinely surprised. She hurriedly declined, "No, no, that's too much! I'm just doing some cleanup work; the real money comes from the Dye House's dyeing techniques. A fifty-fifty split is absolutely out of the question."
"Boss Ye, you're being too modest," the Dye House Owner replied. "If I can't resolve the pollution issue, how will I continue dyeing fabrics in the future? Your work is of utmost importance! Taking half is not excessive at all."
Before Ye Xiaohan could refuse again, he had someone bring paper and ink and began drafting a contract that specified a fifty-fifty profit share.
Ye Xiaohan couldn't stop him. Seeing his firm attitude and genuine desire to cooperate made her realize that insisting further would only seem pretentious.
"Then I shall respectfully accept your terms. Ye Xiaohan will certainly give her all and live up to Shopkeeper's high expectations."
The two of them signed the contract, each keeping a copy for themselves.
Ye Xiaohan stood up to take her leave. "In that case, I will take my leave now and prepare well. I will visit again in a few days."
The Dye House Owner accompanied her to the door before turning back inside. Holding the contract tightly in her arms, Ye Xiaohan felt a significant weight lift off her shoulders.
Next, she would showcase her skills and transform the ordinary into the extraordinary, leaving everyone in the capital astonished!
After returning home, Ye Xiaohan devoted herself entirely to improving the pollution treatment technology, striving to do better. She had to live up to that substantial sum of money.
For several hours, Ye Xiaohan immersed herself in her work until she could no longer bear it. She set down what she was working on and shouted towards the window, "Li Yang, stop pacing outside the window! You're making me dizzy!"
She was lost in her own world but was not completely disconnected from the outside. With someone moving around right in front of her, how could she possibly miss it?
Li Yang poked his head through the window, followed by half of his body, grinning at Ye Xiaohan.
"Come in," Ye Xiaohan said. As soon as she paused, she felt all her muscles ache from fatigue. After being intensely focused for so long, it was no surprise.
Stretching her limbs, Ye Xiaohan stood up and walked around to relax her tense muscles while watching Li Yang run through the door after circling around from the window.
"Why aren't you reading today? Did you come here just to cause trouble again?" Ye Xiaohan asked. Li Yang usually acted like a nuisance but only came to flatter her when he had gotten himself into trouble.
Li Yang smiled eagerly. "How could I? Sister-in-law, am I the kind of person who causes trouble casually?"
"Yes!" Ye Xiaohan shot him a glance. "Just speak plainly. With your little tricks, I can see right through you when I open my eyes."
His awkward demeanor, as if he needed something from her while hesitating to ask, made her wonder when he would ever change. He was so transparent with his emotions—his joy and anger written all over his face—that anyone could see through him at a glance.
Li Yang tilted his head and laughed, "Sister-in-law, you truly have a gift for foresight, even better than the fortune tellers on the street! How do you always guess what I want to do?"
Ye Xiaohan looked at him with disdain, tilting her head. "Cut the nonsense; I'm very busy. Get to the important stuff. If it's not significant, I'll kick you out."
She mimicked swinging a golf club with a broom, feigning a strike.
Li Yang quickly jumped out of her reach and shouted, "Sister-in-law, don’t chase me away! I really need your help with something important!"
He leaped to what he deemed a safe spot and began inching closer to Ye Xiaohan. "Sister-in-law, do you remember the last time I told you about the ghost in my study?"
How could she forget? He had been so paranoid that it had driven her crazy, yet nothing suspicious had happened at all.
"What’s up? Didn’t we conclude that was just a misunderstanding?" Ye Xiaohan replied. "Last time I waited in your room, I didn’t hear any strange noises at all, and nothing has happened since. Why bring it up again?"
Ye Xiaohan glanced at Li Yang's face and was surprised to see two deep dark circles under his eyes, even worse than before.
"What happened to your eyes? You’re not having those paranoid thoughts again, are you? You haven’t been sleeping well these days?" Ye Xiaohan said with amusement. This kid was too timid; it was ridiculous how scared he was over such a small misunderstanding. She hoped it wouldn’t leave him with psychological scars.
Li Yang sighed helplessly. "This time is different. Sister-in-law, I haven't been honest with you."
He sat down in a chair, cradling his head in his hands. "I didn’t want to trouble you before, so I kept it from you. But actually, those strange noises haven’t stopped!"
