"Ailing, Sisi, do you two have any thoughts about Jiang Chen?" Li Ruoxi asked.
"Not at all," Zhou Ailing replied, her face turning red.
Liu Sisi remained silent, her expression complex.
"Sisi definitely isn't interested in Jiang Chen. Although he has great abilities, he's not the handsome little fresh meat that Sisi likes," Li Ruoxi teased with a laugh.
"Who says Jiang Chen isn't handsome? He's the most handsome man I've ever seen," Liu Sisi defended.
"Haha, Sisi, you really are fickle," Li Ruoxi chuckled.
The girls, including Lin Bingbing, found it hard to sleep that night. They chatted and laughed until two in the morning before finally drifting off.
Meanwhile, Xiao Junyong and Cheng Shunwu also struggled to find sleep. One son had been killed, and one grandson had been murdered, yet they could not seek revenge. It was incredibly frustrating for them both as they searched for reasons to convince themselves to forget about it. However, no reason could dissolve the hatred in their hearts. Even if they chose silence now, one day it would inevitably erupt. Of course, whether they exploded or not was of no concern to Jiang Chen.
The next day, Lin Bingbing and the others slept until nine before waking up. Jiang Chen and Lin Bingbing returned to Hangcheng first and then parted ways, with Jiang Chen heading back to Nangang City.
A year had passed, and Jiang Chen decided it was time to attend to some serious matters. The seven treasures he mentioned to Yue Hui were the Seven Divine Artifacts needed to unlock the Mountain and Sea Secret Realm. He intended to hurry and search for them. The first artifact was located in the Kunlun Divine Realm, currently occupied by the Takeda Family. Jiang Chen had learned this information from a divine master he encountered last year while cultivating on Kunlun Mountain. However, the master hadn’t revealed his name but mentioned that they would meet again if fate allowed.
Jiang Chen planned to visit the Takeda Family in a few days to reclaim the Kunlun Divine Realm.
At Huafei Villa, the spiritual mist grew denser, resembling a fairyland from afar. During the New Year period, Lin Yin diligently learned household chores and practiced her cooking skills. She had become quite a competent housekeeper, at least able to keep Huafei Villa spotless and prepare delicious meals.
In this world, there was nothing one couldn't learn. Lin Yin wasn't originally a wealthy young lady; during the time when the housekeeper went home for the New Year, she took on household duties with impressive skill.
After returning home, Jiang Chen occasionally visited his company. It was currently managed by Zhuyong, Ma Wenlai, and Zhou Dafeng; everything was running smoothly without him needing to worry as chairman. His visits felt more like interruptions for the three senior managers, so he decided to go less frequently and instead spent most of his time cultivating at Huafei Villa.
After three days at Huafei Villa, on Thursday afternoon of New Year's Day twenty-eight, Jiang Chen's phone rang.
Looking at the screen, he saw it was Ye Ming calling.
Ye Ming was his disciple whom he had taken on last year in Gusu. He had only guided her in cultivation for a few days before becoming too busy to continue. During the New Year holiday, Ye Ming called to wish her master well and mentioned that she planned to go to Shanghai after the holiday.
Ye Ming's mother, Ye Xinru, naturally contacted Jiang Chen to express her gratitude for saving her daughter and taking her as a disciple. She also explained her decision to send Ye Ming to Shanghai.
Ye Ming had never been welcomed by the other members of the Ye Family, and she held no fondness for them in return. Now that she was healthy, she was reluctant to stay with the Ye Family, so she requested to live a normal life in Shanghai. Ye Xinru agreed and bought her a villa in Shanghai, making it easier for her to cultivate. She hoped that Jiang Chen would visit often to guide her daughter, and Jiang Chen had promised he would.
Now, Ye Ming was calling, likely because she had arrived in Shanghai. Jiang Chen answered the phone, and Ye Ming's voice came through: "Hello, Master!"
"Ha ha, Ye Ming, you said you would go to Shanghai after the New Year. Are you there now?" Jiang Chen replied with a smile.
"Yes, I just arrived two days ago. When are you coming to Shanghai? I can pick you up," Ye Ming said.
"I'll come to Shanghai on Saturday. No need to pick me up; just send me your address when the time comes, and I'll find you. Also, you don't need to call me Master in front of others; it makes me feel old," Jiang Chen chuckled.
"Alright, I'll send you my location on WeChat then. What should I call you?" Ye Ming asked happily upon hearing Jiang Chen would come to Shanghai.
"Okay, let's keep in touch on WeChat. Just call me by my name when we're out!" Jiang Chen replied.
Since Jiang Chen had promised Ye Xinru, he was indeed going to Shanghai. Besides, he needed to travel from Shanghai for his trip to the Island Nation as it had international flights.
On Saturday, Jiang Chen took the high-speed train to Shanghai. Once he arrived at the train station, he called Ye Ming to let her know he was there.
At that moment, in a café on the Bund in Shanghai, Ye Ming received the call with excitement. After hanging up, she sent her location to Jiang Chen.
"Ye Ming, who was that? Is it your boyfriend?" asked a girl sitting across from her wearing a round hat, looking curious.
This girl was Zhao Wenjing, one of Ye Ming's rare childhood friends. Despite Ye Ming's illness and her family's good financial situation, she had few friends. Zhao Wenjing didn't mind Ye Ming's condition and they got along well.
Zhao Wenjing was dressed in designer clothes and looked like an elite professional after graduating from university and staying in Shanghai for work. Her boyfriend was a local from Shanghai, and they were already discussing marriage.
A few days ago, Ye Ming had come to Shanghai with her mother and Master Chen. Once they left, she immediately sought out Zhao Wenjing.
Ye Ming intended to experience ordinary life in Shanghai first and was looking for a job. Fortunately, she had succeeded in an interview yesterday and secured a position.
"No, he's a Master of Traditional Chinese Medicine who cured my illness; I'm just treating him to a meal!" Ye Ming didn't tell the whole truth.
"Oh, a Master of Traditional Chinese Medicine? He must be quite old!" Zhao Wenjing said with disappointment. Most people thought that only those who had practiced traditional medicine for many years could be called Masters.
Ye Ming shook her head. "No, he's quite young—probably younger than me."
"Really young? Is he handsome? Is he a local from Shanghai?" Zhao Wenjing asked with surprise and curiosity.
"He's from Southeast Province and looks quite refined," Ye Ming replied.
"Ye Ming, you mentioned not planning to return to Gusu. Since you're preparing to settle down in Shanghai, this Master of Traditional Chinese Medicine isn't local; even though he cured your illness, you shouldn't consider him too seriously. Do you know how much pressure ordinary workers face when buying a house in Shanghai? Even if your family is wealthy, you can't expect him to rely on your support! By the way, my boyfriend is coming over with a handsome guy; I'll introduce you two! You must seize this opportunity! That guy is a local from Shanghai and comes from a wealthy family—a perfect high-class catch!" Zhao Wenjing said eagerly.
