After Yun Tianmo came out from Ning Zhiyuan's place, he arrived outside the room where Rong Yi lived. Just as he got there, he heard Rong Yi's voice coming from inside.
"You arrived quite quickly."
The door to Rong Yi's room was pushed open, and his graceful figure appeared before Yun Tianmo in the blink of an eye. He squinted at Yun Tianmo, as if trying to see right through him.
Facing Rong Yi's scrutiny, Yun Tianmo did not shy away.
"Have you made your decision?"
Yun Tianmo nodded.
Rong Yi sighed lightly and said, "It's truly a pity to give up after planning for so many years."
When he took Yun Tianmo as his disciple back then, it was partly because he was a descendant of the Yun family. Rong Yi was well aware of Yun Tianmo's plans and had quietly supported him from behind. He had once speculated whether such a grand scheme could be completed and what the Yuhai Continent would look like once it was finished.
With this sentiment in mind, Rong Yi had been supporting Yun Tianmo in his own way, even passing on the alchemical techniques that he had never shared with anyone else, allowing Yun Tianmo to use them as leverage in his dealings with Nan Gong Yao.
Over the years, while the Yuhai Continent seemed calm on the surface, there had always been turbulent undercurrents beneath that tranquility.
Dream Nation had never given up its resistance, always hoping to rise from the bottom of the Three Great Empires. If it weren't for the joint suppression by Yun Tianmo and Nan Gong Yao, they might have truly succeeded. After all, Dream Nation had been supported all these years by its precious national master brother.
Although Rong Yi had never spoken about his relationship with Dream Nation's Grandmaster, it did not mean that this connection did not exist.
Yesterday, Rong Yi was fully aware of the national master's visit and even knew the content of their conversation.
Therefore, he was not surprised at all by Yun Tianmo's arrival.
"There is nothing to regret," Yun Tianmo said indifferently. "Some people are more important than plans."
Rong Yi nodded at the words. Yun Tianmo's emphasis on Ouyang Zixin was a good thing, and he was pleased to see it. "So, are we going to stir things up?"
"Yes."
"Hahaha, that's good. The Yuhai Continent has indeed been too peaceful for too long." Rong Yi laughed heartily, feeling young and carefree; one could say he was reckless or simply a newborn calf.
"How much do you know?" Yun Tianmo stood with his hands behind his back, just here to inform Rong Yi of his decision, not to seek his support.
After all, some things still needed to be done by himself.
However, since the matter had already been made clear, he wanted to know what role Rong Yi played in it and how much he knew—was it as much as that national master?
A breeze swept through the courtyard, and Rong Yi moved his lips; a few light words were scattered before they could even settle.
Yun Tianmo looked at Rong Yi with calm eyes.
"The matter of reincarnation is destined in the dark," Rong Yi patted Yun Tianmo's shoulder. "Did you hear what I just said clearly?"
Did he hear clearly?
Yun Tianmo did not answer; how could he not have heard clearly? Even if Rong Yi spoke lightly, Yun Tianmo did not miss a single word.
He said—the Yuhai Continent originally belonged to you.
You refers to Yun Tianmo and Ouyang Zixin, right?
Well, it doesn't matter whether it is or not. Let's just take it as such. Not for the baseless so-called reincarnation, nor for the grievances from a thousand years ago, but simply to help Ouyang Zixin step out of the shadows.
What does it matter about grudges?
Yun Tianmo had no memories at all; the one who remembered everything was Ouyang Zixin, and she was the one suffering the most. Therefore, for her sake, he didn't mind disrupting this seemingly calm situation.
"Since you've made up your mind, let's get started. There's not much time left," Rong Yi glanced at him. "What are you still doing standing here? Shouldn't you go back and spend some time with that girl?"
Yun Tianmo nodded and left.
Inside the room, Ouyang Zixin was still wrapped in her blanket, motionless.
Yun Tianmo walked to the bedside and sat down, silently keeping her company.
"Aren't you going to the competition?" Ouyang Zixin's voice was muffled.
After a long pause without a response, she gently pulled back the blanket, revealing her eyes. Upon seeing Yun Tianmo sitting beside her, she said, "You don't have to stay with me. Go ahead and be busy."
Yun Tianmo slowly shook his head, reaching out to gently stroke her forehead and tuck away some stray hair. "Nothing is more important than you."
Such a simple statement brought tears to Ouyang Zixin's eyes.
She sniffed and shifted closer to Yun Tianmo. "Husband, I can't even tell the past from the present. Am I useless?"
Yun Tianmo chuckled softly and pinched her slightly reddened nose. "How could my precious wife be useless? Stop overthinking it. As long as we are together, there's nothing else to worry about."
"But..." Ouyang Zixin wanted to say that those so-called memories truly frightened her, fearing that history would repeat itself.
"There’s no 'but' about it." Yun Tianmo lay down fully clothed, pulling both Ouyang Zixin and the blanket into his embrace. "Since you don’t want the past to interfere with our present life, then let’s cut off any possibility of it affecting our future."
A fierce glint flashed in Yun Tianmo's eyes.
Though she couldn't see it, Ouyang Zixin inexplicably shivered and nestled closer into Yun Tianmo's arms. "Can we really cut it off?"
"Mm," Yun Tianmo assured.
"Then, do you want to enter my Mind and take a look?" Ouyang Zixin bit her lip and said, "Those suddenly appearing memories seem to be related to you as well."
Ouyang Zixin didn't want Yun Tianmo to suffer alongside her; she just hoped he could understand the whole situation better so it wouldn't affect his judgment and actions. The woman who claimed to be "her" had not appeared to harass Ouyang Zixin again since the appearance of the National Master, but those memories had become clearer.
So real, too real.
Yun Tianmo turned to glance at Ouyang Zixin, who was inviting him, feeling a bit pained. He gently asked, "Do you feel better?" He wanted to say that if she couldn't bear the repeated scenes any longer, he could choose not to look.
But Ouyang Zixin was also stubborn. Initially reluctant to reveal anything, she had now made up her mind and wouldn't easily back down. She firmly nodded.
She took the initiative to grasp his hand, then closed her eyes, taking a deep breath. "I'm ready."
Whoosh—
Nameless flew out from her forehead and stood quietly beside them, giving Yun Tianmo space.
Seeing this, Yun Tianmo no longer declined. There were indeed things he wanted to see with his own eyes—those bloodshed, that ruthless massacre...
Perhaps soon, it would appear before him again!
For the same woman, he didn't mind going through it once more! (To be continued.)
