The arrival of Rong Yi naturally brought mixed feelings, but that was not important. What mattered was that his arrival signified a series of key figures would soon appear in the Capital of the Departed Nation.
Some individuals, however, were becoming restless due to the continuous arrival of people in the Capital of the Departed Nation.
"How could this happen?" Bai Zhan was perplexed by the National Decree suddenly issued by Nan Gong Yao, especially since the Sovereign of Dream Nation would agree to such an important matter being held in the Capital of the Departed Nation.
Now, Bai Zhan found himself alone in the Capital of the Departed Nation, with no one around to discuss matters with, which truly distressed him.
That day, he received a message from the Bai Clan. It was supposed to be a request for his opinion, but upon checking the timing, it turned out to be a notification.
It turned out that Liniang had taken it upon herself to select a young representative from the Bai Clan to immediately head to the Capital of the Departed Nation after receiving news. The list made Bai Zhan furious; it consisted entirely of Liniang's trusted confidants, and he hardly had anyone he could rely on.
"This damn woman is trying to rebel?!" Bai Zhan tore the message to shreds, gritting his teeth as he cursed. But now he had no way out; after all, this matter had come up suddenly, and he had entrusted responsibilities to his precious new wife before leaving. No matter how angry he was now, it was futile.
"Someone, prepare the horse. I need to go to the palace."

"Bai Zhan?" Nan Gong Yao squinted at Li Feng, seemingly doubting whether he had heard correctly.
Li Feng bowed slightly and nodded, saying, "The National Sovereign's words indeed refer to him."
Nan Gong Yao straightened up, a knowing smile appearing on his face as he asked, "Where is he?"
"Waiting outside the palace gates."
"Who asked him?" Nan Gong Yao casually picked up a document as if to throw it at Li Feng but noticed it was rather thick and reluctantly set it down, glaring at him. "I don't care where he is."
Li Feng was taken aback for a moment. Then he understood and quickly replied, "I am taking a walk in the garden."
"Come on, let's take a look."
Leaving the Royal Palace. The garden.
"Miss Bai, you have been walking for quite a while. Would you like to rest for a bit?" A maid carefully reminded a woman in white who was walking ahead of her.
The woman in white was Baike, who had just woken up yesterday. Although she was not restricted in her freedom, she could not leave the palace and could only walk between her residence and the garden.
"I've been lying down for too long; I want to walk some more." Baike ignored the maid's advice and continued to stride forward.
"Greetings, Sovereign."
In the garden. Many people knelt down, but only Baike, who had her back turned to Nan Gong Yao, did not notice his arrival and stood awkwardly among the crowd.
"Miss Bai looks quite well." Nan Gong Yao walked straight toward Baike with a charming smile, showing no awareness of having confined her in the palace.
Baike, knowing she was under someone else's roof, felt some dissatisfaction upon seeing Nan Gong Yao but still respectfully bowed and replied, "Thank you for your concern, Sovereign. I am fine now."
"That's excellent. May I accompany Miss Bai for a walk?" Nan Gong Yao smiled and gestured invitingly, showing no intention of seeking her opinion.
Li Feng led a group of servants away, leaving only Nan Gong Yao and Baike to stroll casually in the garden.
"What do you think of this garden, Miss Bai?"
"It's beautiful."
Nan Gong Yao laughed heartily and said, "Since you like it, why not continue to stay?"
Baike looked at Nan Gong Yao, seeing him gazing ahead without looking at her. She wondered what he meant by that and hesitated to respond.
"Look, this is the Bloodleaf Tree, unique to my Exiled Nation. Its colors are vibrant enough to dye half the sky red," Nan Gong Yao stopped in front of a Bloodleaf Tree. The crimson branches and leaves were indeed striking.
"I have heard of the Bloodleaf Tree before; it truly lives up to its reputation," Baike looked up at the vivid red. It could not only dye half the sky but could even color half a continent.
A gust of wind blew, causing the Bloodleaf Tree to rustle, as if responding to their conversation.
"Your father is seeking an audience outside the palace," Nan Gong Yao suddenly turned around, his gaze fixed on Baike.
"Ah—" Baike was startled by Nan Gong Yao, her eyes momentarily drifting.
Nan Gong Yao caught that fleeting moment, smirking inwardly while putting on a concerned expression and asked, "Miss Bai has been unconscious for many days; I’m sure you must miss your family dearly?"
Faced with Nan Gong Yao's scrutinizing gaze, Baike found herself at a loss for words. It was natural to miss family, but if Nan Gong Yao truly wanted her to see them, why would he be casually chatting with her in the garden? Yet if he didn’t want her to meet them, why inform her that her father was seeking an audience?
Even though Baike had been educated as a Legitimate Daughter and was exceptionally clever since childhood, she found it difficult to decipher even the simplest words from Nan Gong Yao. More often than not, she felt as if she were being watched by a venomous snake whenever he looked at her, sending chills down her spine.
"Why isn’t Miss Bai speaking?"
"What does Your Sovereign mean? Please speak plainly."
"Miss Bai's words are incorrect. What meaning could I have? I merely came to inquire about your opinion. If you do not wish to meet him, it would be inappropriate for me to let him in and upset you," Nan Gong Yao completely transformed into an understanding elder, saying this without a hint of embarrassment.
"Your Sovereign is overthinking; that is my father, so naturally I wish to see him. I fear it is Your Sovereign who does not want us to meet," Baike frowned. She was increasingly perplexed by what Nan Gong Yao intended. With the words on the tip of her tongue, she had no reason not to speak.
"Oh?" Nan Gong Yao raised an eyebrow and smiled at Baike, then nodded and said, "Miss Bai is right; it was my misunderstanding. In that case... Li Feng."
Li Feng appeared from nowhere, standing respectfully with his head bowed and said, "Sovereign, what are your orders?"
"Since Miss Bai wants to see her father, let them meet in this garden. It would also be a good opportunity for Elder Bai to appreciate the Bloodleaf Tree of my Exiled Nation." After speaking, Nan Gong Yao turned and left without even glancing at Baike again.
"Understood."
After Nan Gong Yao and Li Feng departed, Baike continued to gaze at their retreating figures, filled with doubts. What exactly was Nan Gong Yao planning?
"A conspiracy? Or an open scheme?" Baike murmured to herself, her brows furrowed. "Did something happen while I was unconscious..."
"Miss Bai..."
"Elder?!" Baike turned around to see five people appearing before her, completely unexpected. The elders of the Bai Clan had never left Dream Nation; how could they be present in Dream Kingdom Palace?
The newcomers were indeed the five Elders of the Bai Clan, led by the Grand Elder. They had hurried over upon receiving news that Baike had awakened.
"Why are you and my father in the Capital of the Departed Nation?" Bai Kexin felt a sense of foreboding.
"Your father?!" The Grand Elder was clearly unaware of this matter. Although he had suspected it before, he had not confirmed it. Hearing it directly from Baike took them by surprise.
