"Big, big, big..." The doorman gaped at the group outside. If it weren't for one person he recognized, he might have thought someone was trying to block the door again.
Ouyang Zixin chuckled lightly and said, "How did I not know we had a stutterer in our family?"
Hearing Ouyang Zixin's teasing, the doorman finally snapped back to reality, no longer startled but feeling a bit embarrassed. This was the first time he had a serious conversation with the young lady. He thought he would have to boast about this to his friends later. "Oh, right, let me open the door for you, Miss."
While he was contemplating how to brag to his friends after work, he almost forgot to open the door for Ouyang Zixin. But when he looked again at the men beside her, he wondered who they were. Each one seemed more impressive than the last. Hadn't the young lady gone to the Millennium Ruins? Why did she bring back so many people?
The doorman was puzzled, especially by the man in purple. Had he seen him somewhere before?
"What are you dawdling for?" Nangong Tuo said impatiently as he noticed the doorman sizing them up. "Hurry up and open the door! How long do you expect your young lady to stand outside?"
The prince's commanding presence was unmistakable. The doorman jolted back to attention; regardless of who was with the young lady, it wasn't his place to stare so openly. He quickly lowered his head and opened the door.
"Let's go," Ouyang Zixin smiled at Yun Tianmo. This was her first formal invitation for him to her home, and it felt warm yet slightly embarrassing. She glanced at Yun Tianying, who was smiling ambiguously beside her. Ouyang Zixin decided not to hesitate any longer and quickened her pace into the courtyard.
"Miss, the master has gone to the palace and hasn't returned yet. The madam is currently having tea with Matriarch. Would you like to return to your courtyard first or go see Madam?" The doorman led the way, explaining that during Ouyang Zixin's absence, many people had come and gone in the residence.
"Matriarch?" Ouyang Zixin frowned and stopped in confusion. When did a Matriarch appear in their household? Was someone visiting?
"Miss, you've been away for some time and may not know; Madam's mother has come..." The doorman was about to explain further when he suddenly seemed to remember something and covered his mouth, casting a wary glance at the few people behind Ouyang Zixin.
Ouyang Zixin turned around to look and then continued asking, "Since you've mentioned it, there's no need for secrecy. We wouldn't want anyone laughing at us."
Yun Tianmo and Yun Tianying were not worried at all; as for Nangong Tuo, although he usually spoke freely, he wouldn't divulge too much about his own matters. As long as she gave him a heads-up later, Ouyang Zixin wasn't concerned about any information leaking out. She then instructed, "You go tell my mother that I'm back. Also, have Lin Ma prepare two empty rooms. Just say I have friends staying over for a few days. I'll freshen up first; you take these gentlemen to Flower Hall for tea."
"You all should rest for a while. Once the rooms are ready, you can wash up too," Ouyang Zixin said as she turned to Yun Tianmo. During their time in Millennium Ruins, they had made do with less; now that they were back, she couldn't continue tolerating it.
"Okay." Yun Tianmo had no objections to Ouyang Zixin's arrangements. Although he usually didn't stay at others' homes, this time he didn't say much about it.

Ouyang Zixin was enjoying a bath in her room when she suddenly heard a commotion outside the door. She slowly opened her eyes and smiled slightly.
"Miss, your maid Liu Ying (Liu Lvy) has come to pay her respects..." The two of them, suppressing their excitement, announced themselves outside the door. Only after hearing Ouyang Zixin's acknowledgment did they eagerly push the door open and hurriedly enter.
"Long time no see." Ouyang Zixin had wrapped herself up and was standing outside the tub, combing her long hair, casually greeting the two.
Liu Ying and Liu Lvy were both teary-eyed with excitement. During these days, they had been by the Matriarch's side and had heard plenty about the so-called Legitimate Daughter of the Bai Clan. "Miss, I... I'm just excited..." Liu Lvy wiped her tears and smiled at Ouyang Zixin. After some time apart, the young lady had become even more charming.
"I thought you two would have matured; who knew..." Ouyang Zixin feigned disappointment and sighed lightly. She had always focused on nurturing these two maids. Although she felt a bit excited herself, it was nothing compared to their reaction.
Perhaps this is what they call ignorance being bliss.
"Miss, hurry and put on some clothes; you might catch a chill." Liu Ying pretended to help Ouyang Zixin with her clothes while turning away to wipe her joyful tears, muttering, "Though it looks hot today, you could get sick like this. Liu Lvy, quickly help the Miss dry her hair; wrapping it up like that won't do."
The two maids quickly became busy, and Ouyang Zixin didn’t stop them; after all, some things weren’t urgent.
She was preparing to wait until she was dressed before asking questions but overlooked her unpredictable mother. Before she could finish drying her hair, she heard Bai Su's voice from outside: "Xin'er, Xin'er! You're back; Mother has come to see you."
Not being in a hurry turned out to be a misjudgment.
"Hurry and open the door for Madam."
As soon as Ouyang Zixin got up, she saw the door being pushed open. Bai Su rushed in without saying a word and immediately embraced her, choking back tears as she said, "You're back, finally back! Mother has missed you so much..."
"Mother..." Ouyang Zixin felt a bit helpless; her mother was always so sentimental.
It seemed that her plan to inquire about that so-called Matriarch was going to be foiled. Although she was somewhat surprised by the sudden appearance of this unknown grandmother, after experiencing so many unexpected events in the Millennium Ruins, she had become more composed.
Since she was here, she might as well settle in.
When soldiers come, block them; when water comes, dam it!
"Mother, I heard someone say that a Matriarch has arrived at the residence?" Sitting idly by was not an option; being straightforward was her style!
"What Matriarch? That is your grandmother," Bai Su scolded gently. "Hurry and get ready; Mother will take you to see your grandmother. She has missed you..."
Missed me?
Heh...
A grandmother who suddenly appeared out of nowhere and whom I have never met—missed me?
