“Yun Tianmo.” Ouyang Zixin called him softly.
“Hmm?” He replied gently.
In the Underground Palace, the two embraced, and it felt as if the entire world had shrunk to just the two of them. If this weren't a temporary place, she would truly wish to settle here in this tranquil spot, free from worldly troubles and the complexities of human relationships. Just having her beloved by her side was enough.
“The mother in Mirror Guardian, how pitiful,” Ouyang Zixin said with a slight nasal tone. “Every time I think of her, I feel so heartbroken and sad.”
Although her mother often strayed off-topic during their conversations, she was genuinely a good woman, wholeheartedly devoted to both her father and her. How could someone so kind and gentle be met with jealousy from her own kin, who wanted to drive her to death?
A single tear fell, landing on Yun Tianmo's clothing, spreading into a faint stain that felt like it had dripped onto his heart, causing a dull ache. He reached out to wipe away the tears on her face and promised softly in her ear, “Trust me, revenge will come sooner or later.”
Ouyang Zixin nodded, inexplicably willing to believe him. “Hmm.”
Her thick nasal tone carried a hint of a pout as she leaned closer into his embrace. “I’m a bit cold.”
Without hesitation, Yun Tianmo activated his Mysterious Energy, instantly warming the space around them and enveloping Ouyang Zixin within it. He asked tenderly, “How about this?” He understood that what Ouyang Zixin referred to as cold was more of a feeling in her heart; however, all he could do for her at that moment was this. Matters concerning Bai Su would have to wait until they left this place.
“Talk to me,” Ouyang Zixin said. The quiet night made her feel insecure, even though she was held in Yun Tianmo's arms.
“Hmm.”
“……”
“Did you talk little since you were young?” It seemed that getting Yun Tianmo to speak up would be difficult; she would have to make an effort herself.
"Mm."
"Besides 'mm,' can you say something else?" Ouyang Zixin said with some frustration. She just wanted someone to chat with, but this ice mountain was really disappointing. At this moment, she found herself missing the talkative Ning Zhiyuan; he always knew how to say things that interested her. Even Nangong Takuya would do, although he could be a bit noisy.
Noticing Ouyang Zixin's change in mood, Yun Tianmo tightened his arms. After pondering for a moment, he finally managed to say—don't think about others!
"Hey, how did you know I was thinking about someone else?" Ouyang Zixin exclaimed. She almost forgot that she had once suspected Yun Tianmo might have mind-reading abilities; now, just a fleeting thought crossed her mind, and he somehow knew.
Yun Tianmo playfully pinched her cheek as a form of punishment. Then he said grumpily, "I'm just not good at chatting."
"Mm, I know." Ouyang Zixin nodded obediently, indicating that she had always known. "I just feel like it's a bit too quiet here."
Isn't it a bit unnervingly quiet in the Underground Palace? If Yun Tianmo hadn't come, Ouyang Zixin would probably feel scared waking up here alone.
"You know, if my mother could have snuggled in my father's arms back then, wouldn't she have felt less afraid?" Ouyang Zixin asked.
"I saw the shadow that passed by at the end. It wasn't my father; it was my mother. I could feel her fear and anger from her eyes," she continued.
"If someone had appeared to protect my mother when she was scared, just like you are now, how wonderful that would have been." She didn't ask where her father was at that time; she knew it was something her father wouldn't want to see either.
She kept talking, asking questions and making assumptions; she needed to express herself and have someone who could listen to her properly.
"It's all in the past; don't think about it," Yun Tianmo said, sensing that Ouyang Zixin's body began to tremble slightly again. It seemed that the scene she saw in the Mirror Guardian had deeply hurt her, and she was still afraid.
Ouyang Zixin shook her head and bit her lip. "I don't want to think about it either, but I can't control myself. I don't know if I'm scared or angry..."
Yes, seeing her family members bully her mother, how could she not be angry? But besides anger, what else could she do?
"Calm down, thinking about this now is useless. After we get out, we can settle the score," she said, reaching out to massage Ouyang Zixin's neck. She was too tense and needed to relax. Yun Tianmo felt that she couldn't let her overthink; she needed to rest and temporarily forget everything.
"Okay, I’ll listen to you. After we go out, I will seek justice for my mother."
"Mm."

"What?" Zhao Feihong looked at his sister in surprise, disbelief written all over his face. "Are you serious?"
"Shh!" Zhao Feiyu nervously glanced back, seeing that the Third Prince was still lying with his back to them and seemed to have fallen asleep. She turned back to her brother and said, "Brother, keep your voice down."
Zhao Feihong nodded and motioned for his sister to come closer. Lowering his voice, he said, "The Ink King is indeed someone Father mentioned as an ally, but how does Ouyang Zixin fit into this…"
Having Ouyang Zixin suddenly appear was already annoying enough; now she was involved with the Ink King. If the Third Prince found out, it would be a disaster. As members of the Zhao Family, they would definitely be forced to take a stand, which would ruin Father's plans.
Seeing her brother's furrowed brow, Zhao Feiyu understood that this matter was more complicated than they had imagined. After all, even Father hadn't anticipated that Ouyang Zixin would become the woman favored by the Ink King. Now the Zhao Family was caught in the middle; if they weren't careful, they could end up being ostracized. By informing her brother of the situation, she hoped they could discuss it together and find a good solution.
"The Third Prince doesn’t know yet, right?" This was Zhao Feihong's only hope at the moment. As long as the Third Prince remained unaware, they could buy some time. As long as it wasn't exposed directly for a day, the Zhao Family could continue to maneuver within the situation.
Zhao Feiyu immediately understood her brother's intentions and felt anxious. Given the current circumstances with all three factions converging, he still thought about how to delay and maneuver. "Brother, this isn't a joke; the old methods won't work anymore."
"What should we do then?" With princes on both sides, if the Zhao Family wanted to please both parties, they had no choice but to proceed this way. Although it was risky, where could one find great wealth without taking risks?
The two siblings were trying to figure out a way when Nangong Tuo suddenly moved, startling them into silence, not daring to breathe. After a while, they confirmed that Nangong Tuo was just moving unconsciously in his sleep, and they finally breathed a sigh of relief.
"No matter what, we must keep this a secret. We absolutely cannot let the Third Prince know," Zhao Feihong said, feeling helpless and giving his sister a stern order.
"I'll do my best," Zhao Feiyu thought for a moment and realized she had no choice but to listen to her brother, so she nodded in agreement.
The two siblings then went to rest.
There was another rustling sound as Nangong Tuo turned over again. His bright eyes showed no hint of the drowsiness typical of someone waking from sleep, but soon enough, he closed his eyes again. (To be continued.)
P.S.: As usual, I recommend a great work today, "Future's Dan Traveling Through the Stars." This is a sci-fi novel by an author who often appears in everyone's sight with the posture of "crawling." The word count has now reached over 760,000, so you can dive in without worry. The story goes like this: Golden Core Stage reincarnates into the stars; lost cultivation?
What’s there to fear? The cultivation speed is excellent!
Don’t understand the interstellar rules? Too much knowledge to learn?
What’s there to fear? A cultivator's divine sense is amazing!
A certain man: "Brothers-in-law, just let me spoil my wife!"
All the sister fans: "The girl has been taken away by a wolf; what should we do?!"
