Ouyang Zixin's gaze quickly swept over the Small Stone Box, her mind constantly analyzing various possibilities. Although she kept asking questions, those around her could sense that she was not talking to anyone but rather to herself.
"The Eight Trigrams, Taiji Yin-Yang Diagram, Gossip, yellow, gray-brown..." Ouyang Zixin mentally reviewed all the patterns and colors that had appeared on the Small Stone Box from beginning to end, while her hands continuously rotated the Small Stone Box. When the vibrations finally ceased, she suddenly looked up at Yun Tianmo and exclaimed, "I know! It's the Five Elements."
"The Five Elements?"
"That's right." Ouyang Zixin had always felt that the occasional glow emanating from the Small Stone Box must have some significance. The previous warm yellow light and now the gray-brown light corresponded to the major changes occurring in the Beautiful Scenery Without Form, specifically related to the earth. This led her to conclude that the Small Stone Box was indeed connected to the Five Elements.
Each of the Five Elements corresponds to different eye colors, including yellow and brown, which is essentially the same as gray-brown. The two colors currently appearing correspond precisely to one element—earth.
When in the Underground Palace, the light emitted by the illusions was warm yellow. After Ouyang Zixin exited the Underground Palace, she arrived here just before the third change in Beautiful Scenery Without Form was about to occur. The interval of time between these events might be systematic or merely coincidental; regardless, shortly after the Small Stone Box began to flicker with gray-brown light, a "quake" occurred in Beautiful Scenery Without Form.
Thus, this Small Stone Box should possess a warning function or predict what changes might happen next within the Millennium Ruins. The reason these changes had not been detected earlier was that no one truly understood what the Small Stone Box was trying to convey.
"So you mean that as long as we identify the eye color corresponding to the Five Elements' glow, we can know what danger might come next?" Zhao Feiyu listened with his mouth agape, unable to close it for quite some time.
Ouyang Zixin nodded excitedly, her eyes sparkling with uncontainable enthusiasm. "If I'm not mistaken, this Small Stone Box not only indicates what danger lies ahead but should also have a function for crisis resolution; it's just..."
"Still haven't found it." Yun Tianmo looked at her confident expression and couldn't help but feel a bit inclined to temper her enthusiasm. She was getting a bit too proud without having found a solution yet.
Yun Tianying observed his somewhat childish behavior and couldn't help but chuckle softly. Indeed, it seemed she hadn't misjudged; this Red Luan Star was quite impressive in its movements.
"I haven't found it yet, but I will," Ouyang Zixin said, waving her small, sandbag-like fist at Yun Tianmo defiantly. "I was the first to think of this in relation to the Five Elements."
"Come on, you two. Either fight to the death or show off your tricks, but can we get to the point?" Zhao Feiyu sighed, rubbing his forehead. He had initially thought only Ouyang Zixin was unreliable, but now it seemed Yun Tianmo also needed reevaluation.
The Five Elements are Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth. Each element corresponds to more than one color.
If memory serves correctly, the colors associated with Fire are red and purple; those for Earth are yellow, brown, tea color, and dark brown; for Metal, they are white, gold, and silver; for Water, black, blue, and gray; and for Wood, green, cyan, and emerald.
Among these colors, some are similar while others are vastly different. Those who do not understand could easily make incorrect judgments.
"So what you're saying is that in the Underground Palace this Small Stone Box has already predicted that there will be an 'earthquake' in Beautiful Scenery Without Form?" That sounds a bit too miraculous to Zhao Feiyu. He still had some doubts since all of this was based on what Ouyang Zixin said and not something he had witnessed himself.
People from Yuhai Continent would find this quite astonishing as well. After all, things like weather forecasts or disaster predictions likely haven't become widespread here—or perhaps don't exist at all. On Earth, however, weather forecasts are updated in real-time and alerts for disasters are issued in advance.
Regarding Zhao Feiyu's skepticism, Ouyang Zixin remained noncommittal. She stepped closer to Yun Tianmo and pointed at the totem pattern that had just emitted a gray-brown glow. "But I'm not very clear about the relationship between the colors corresponding to the Five Elements and the totem. All I know is that the Fire totem corresponds to red."
Ouyang Zixin had previously analyzed that the designer of the Millennium Ruins was someone skilled in calculation and design. Even in such a small place, they managed to make it so complex—one link leads to another—and missing any clue could lead to failure.
"Totem?" Yun Tianmo didn't know what a totem was but assumed it referred to the patterns emerging on the Small Stone Box. He looked carefully at where Ouyang Zixin was pointing. "Are you referring to this Xiaoshen pattern?"
Ouyang Zixin nodded. "Isn't that right? If we talk about it, it seems that snakes and earth might have some connection; beyond that..."
"This method of deducing the process from the result seems a bit lacking in rigor," Yun Tianying remarked. He wasn't trying to undermine Ouyang Zixin; he just genuinely questioned whether such an analytical approach was correct. Looking for corresponding clues after knowing the results can often lead to misdirection—a subconscious suggestion of sorts.
Yun Tianmo raised an eyebrow at him, seemingly surprised that he, who was usually gentle and refined in front of others, would directly question her. Just as she was wondering whether Ouyang Zixin would respond defiantly, she heard her calmly say, "It's not rigorous, but it is a possibility."
Now, not only did Yun Tianying raise an eyebrow at Ouyang Zixin, but Yun Tianmo also looked at her with newfound respect. Was she only unreasonable when dealing with herself?
"If we follow Miss Ouyang's method of analysis, then does the order of totems you mentioned imply that the next potential danger should be related to the Black Bear? And which color from the Five Elements should the Black Bear correspond to?" Yun Tianying noted that Ouyang Zixin was not only unbothered by his earlier question but was also quite open about it, which made him regard her more highly as he continued to express his thoughts.
"If the order is correct, then the Black Bear should correspond to white or gray. Unless there are other colors of Black Bears on Yuhai Continent," Ouyang Zixin said, feeling a bit guilty as she recalled having seen a Black Bear glowing with orange light.
