As soon as Ouyang Zixin spoke, not only did Baike gasp in surprise, but Yun Tianmo also looked at her with an incredulous expression.
The expressions of the two successfully amused Ouyang Zixin; they really had a good understanding of each other. It seemed that when faced with her, they were determined not to admit anything.
"Heh, what's wrong? Do you find it unbelievable?" Ouyang Zixin lowered her hand, her tone slightly mocking, as her gaze shifted back and forth between the two. "Don't forget, I have the Mirror Guardian."
Baike might not know yet, but Yun Tianmo had seen the Mirror Guardian before; otherwise, why would he insist on leaving the Underground Palace to search for Yun Tianying? Wait, perhaps he wasn't actually looking for Yun Tianying at all; maybe the person he had been searching for all along was Baike instead.
"Absurd." Yun Tianmo frowned tightly. Although he didn't understand why Ouyang Zixin was so certain that there was something between him and Baike, as the person involved, he naturally knew what was real and what was false. As for Ouyang Zixin claiming that the Mirror Guardian could show scenes from elsewhere, he didn't deny that. However, for her to say that she saw him hugging Baike through the Mirror Guardian was simply nonsense.
Baike nodded in agreement. "This is completely fabricated." Yet in her heart, she knew there was someone else involved, but that person was not Yun Tianmo; it was Yun Tianying. Ouyang Zixin's words left her utterly confused. If it weren't for Yun Tianmo being here, she feared she wouldn't be able to shake off the heavy accusation that Ouyang Zixin had placed upon her.
Not admitting it?
Hmph, she had guessed correctly. As the saying goes, a thief must carry stolen goods. In their illicit affair, aside from having seen it with her own eyes, Ouyang Zixin truly had no substantial evidence. At this moment, it seemed as if she were just babbling nonsense.
Using her uninjured hand, Ouyang Zixin pulled out the Stone Box without worrying that someone would take it from her. She tossed it directly to Yun Tianmo and tilted her chin at him to open it and take a look; perhaps there was still something displayed inside.
"No need to look." Yun Tianmo felt that Ouyang Zixin's action was nothing short of an insult to him; it wasn't that she didn't trust him. No matter how blind he might be, he would never be attracted to a woman as pretentious as Baike.
"That's true; anyway, we probably won't see anything now. Forget it. Just give it back to me." Ouyang Zixin tilted her head and thought for a moment, realizing that her earlier actions were indeed meaningless. So she walked toward Yun Tianmo and reached out directly to take back the Stone Box when she got in front of him.
Yun Tianmo finally waited for her to approach. How could he let her just take something and leave? As soon as she reached out, he grabbed her firmly, disregarding Baike who was still nearby, and changed from his usual cold demeanor to one of warm anger, saying, "Speak nicely."
Even when she was hiding from him at Rong Yi's place back then, she never thought of speaking to him in such a sarcastic manner. This made Yun Tianmo very displeased, especially since the nonsense she mentioned was completely unfounded. Even if there were reasons behind his actions, she should have asked him properly instead of jumping to conclusions. She should listen to what he had to say.
Ouyang Zixin felt a sharp pain as Yun Tianmo tugged at her, causing her shoulder wound to reopen. Raising an eyebrow, she smirked and said, "What’s wrong? Does the Ink King think the woman’s wounds aren’t deep enough? Should I…"
"Shut up!" Yun Tianmo looked at the blood seeping from Ouyang Zixin's shoulder and felt a pang of concern, but he refused to loosen his grip, fearing she might slip away again.
Thud.
The sound echoed.
Yun Tianmo and Ouyang Zixin both turned to the Stone Box in his hand; they had heard that sound before. However, Baike seemed oblivious, remaining nearby with a puzzled expression.
"Open it and see what’s inside this time. Oh right, maybe there will be news about your royal brother. You’re so anxious to find him after coming out of the Underground Palace; how come you have time to be here now…" Ouyang Zixin didn’t know why she couldn’t help but speak in such a sharp tone. She thought that after saying this, she would feel better, but no matter what she did, the dull ache in her heart didn’t lessen; instead, it seemed to intensify.
Because these two people in front of her were actually conspiring against her.
"News about Tian Ying?" Baike perked up at Ouyang Zixin mentioning Yun Tianying. Wasn’t he resting just ahead? Why was there news about him now?
Ouyang Zixin shot a mocking glance at Baike, who showed a worried expression. This woman really was something; she had just been close with Yun Tianmo and now was thinking about another man. And that man happened to be Yun Tianmo's sibling—was that really okay?
Yun Tianmo was infuriated by Ouyang Zixin's gaze and tightened his grip on her, pulling her into his embrace. As for the Stone Box, he had no intention of opening it at all.
"Let go, can't you hear me? I find it..." Ouyang Zixin was infuriated by Yun Tianmo's actions. What was wrong with this man? Could he not understand her words? She had clearly told him that she found it dirty, yet he continued to touch her and even tried to hold her in his arms again.
Before she could finish her sentence, Ouyang Zixin's mouth was sealed by Yun Tianmo. She struggled and made muffled sounds but couldn't break free. The thought of Baike being nearby made her feel like she was being treated like a monkey, just like in Mirror Guardian. Yun Tianmo didn't mind being looked at this way repeatedly, but she did. Without thinking much, Ouyang Zixin kicked hard at Yun Tianmo's leg and quickly retreated while he was distracted.
"Have you seen enough? Why don't you leave?" When Yun Tianmo looked up, he saw Ouyang Zixin vigorously wiping her mouth, as if his kiss had disgusted her greatly. A wave of irritation surged within him. This woman was like a cat with its fur bristled; he couldn't lose his temper at her, or else Baike would be the unfortunate one.
Baike was taken aback for a moment before realizing that Yun Tianmo was talking to her. Although his attitude wasn't great, Baike didn't mind this time. She had wanted to leave long ago; Ouyang Zixin had come at her with unfounded accusations. Fortunately, Yun Tianying wasn't around; it would be terrible if he misunderstood the situation. Yun Tianying was the first man she had feelings for, and she didn't want him to think she was an easy woman, so she hurried to find him.
Seeing Baike turn to leave while Ouyang Zixin continued to wipe her mouth, which was now red and almost bleeding from the friction, she shouted, "You can't leave!" (To be continued.)
