Ouyang Zixin was clearly heartbroken by the scene on the Mirror Guardian, yet she couldn't bring herself to look away. She wanted to know what would happen next; perhaps Yun Tianmo had a purpose for his actions. Children raised in the palace, like them, were no strangers to schemes and pretenses.
Despite finding countless excuses for Yun Tianmo's behavior in her mind, Ouyang Zixin could not stop the pain in her heart. She knew very well that regardless of his intentions, whether genuine or feigned, she could not accept the scene before her. She was merely deceiving herself, and what tormented her most was that she could not even manage to deceive herself; her mind was far too clear.
Nameless watched Ouyang Zixin's trembling shoulders and knew she must have cried again, stubbornly refusing to make a sound. Even though he understood her pain, she continued to hold back her tears. Having been by Ouyang Zixin's side for so long, Nameless felt a dull ache in his heart as he realized what human sorrow truly felt like.
With a thud, he punched the stone wall beside him, transforming his inner pain into anger. Since Yun Tianmo treated his master this way, he would not hold back when they met again.
Hearing the noise, Ouyang Zixin stiffened noticeably and remained tense for a while; only her occasionally trembling shoulders revealed her sorrow. Just as she was about to unleash her pent-up anger, he noticed that Ouyang Zixin seemed to gasp sharply, and even her shaking shoulders froze.
Feeling anxious, Nameless rushed to Ouyang Zixin's side and supported her body with his hands. He wanted to ask if she was alright. However, when his gaze inadvertently swept over the Mirror Guardian, he was completely stunned—not only could he not comfort Ouyang Zixin, but he was also taken aback by what he saw.
At that moment, Yun Tianmo was holding Baike, who had buried her delicate face almost entirely in his chest. Yun Tianmo leaned slightly forward to look at her; one could see his thin lips moving gently as he whispered sweet nothings into Baike's ear. As she listened, Baike buried her head deeper and deeper. Her small hand even playfully hit his chest as if something he said had made her shy.
It seemed that Baike said something in return. Then she twisted her body, trying to break free from Yun Tianmo's embrace, but he refused to let go and suddenly pulled her back forcefully. He then grasped her chin and turned her face back toward him. His gaze remained fixed on hers; even from the depths of the Underground Palace, through the Mirror Guardian, Nameless could feel the depth of emotion in his eyes.
With some difficulty, Nameless swallowed hard. A hoarse voice echoed through the Underground Palace: “Master, please don’t look.”
Ouyang Zixin still had her back turned to Nameless, ignoring his words. Her body had stopped trembling, indicating that she had ceased crying; however, this only made Nameless more worried. To his surprise, she moved forward slightly as if trying to see the scene in the Mirror Guardian more clearly. He could faintly hear her mumbling something.
The warm yellow light emanating from the Small Stone Box persisted without dimming; instead, it seemed to grow stronger. The Mirror Guardian continued to display scenes related to Yun Tianmo.
Feeling a bit embarrassed under Yun Tianmo's gaze, Baike slightly turned her face and softly said a few words. She then saw Yun Tianmo's lips curl into a smile, a charming grin appearing on his face. His long eyebrows arched upward, and his beautiful eyes were clearly filled with amusement. Baike, having turned to look at him, was captivated by his enchanting demeanor.
Also entranced was Ouyang Zixin in the Underground Palace. It was the first time she had seen such an expression on his face; even when he kissed her, she had never witnessed that devilishly charming smile. Why, why did he show such an expression to Baike?
Ouyang Zixin pressed one hand against her chest, her fingers digging into the area over her heart, as if only this could alleviate the pain she felt.
Behind her, Nameless was unaware of her actions and only worried that she might faint from the emotional strain. He kept his hands protectively at her sides, his gaze never leaving the Mirror Guardian.
Yun Tianmo successfully captivated Baike with his charming smile, and the words he spoke next brought a satisfied smile to Baike's face. She blushed and nodded, seemingly agreeing to something. However, the words Yun Tianmo uttered were anything but satisfying in Ouyang Zixin's eyes; they struck her like a bolt from the blue—far more unbearable than seeing him being affectionate with Baike.
Ouyang Zixin was merely a plaything.
"Yun Tianmo, how can you say such cruel things!" Ouyang Zixin could no longer hold back; sorrow nearly engulfed her. If she didn't find an outlet for her grief soon, she might drown in it. Her sudden cry left Nameless momentarily stunned, but he had been attentive to Ouyang Zixin's reactions, so he quickly regained his composure.
"Master..." Nameless could no longer bear to watch Ouyang Zixin suffer. After catching sight of Yun Tianmo embracing Baike and moving behind a stone wall, he swiftly closed the Small Stone Box with a loud clap.
The tranquility of the Underground Palace was shattered as Ouyang Zixin finally broke down in tears—her hoarse sobs, heart-wrenching cries, and nearly breathless gasps...
Ultimately culminating in three words—why!
Overwhelmed by sorrow, Ouyang Zixin unleashed Mysterious Energy that scattered around her. Concerned that she might injure her meridians due to her emotional turmoil, Nameless had no choice but to knock her unconscious. Even if she couldn't escape her grief upon waking, at least he couldn't let her harm herself recklessly over a treacherous Yun Tianmo; it seemed far too unworthy.
Sitting beside Ouyang Zixin and observing her swollen eyes and red nose, along with lips already cracked further pale from crying and tears still glistening on her face, Nameless slowly reached out a hand to tuck away the stray hair from her forehead and sighed, "Human emotions are truly intense; they can be so painful."
