"Master, is this pattern exactly the same as the first door?"
Ouyang Zixin walked over to Nameless, glanced a few times, and nodded, "It is the same, but the fish eyes are a bit brighter than those on this door." After all, having absorbed the mysterious energy from several experts, it was much more vibrant compared to this lifeless pattern.
After explaining what happened when entering the first door, Ouyang Zixin thought that since the patterns on the doors were identical, the method to enter the stone door must be similar. She instructed Nameless to push it open and prepared to try it herself.
Nameless, feeling somewhat puzzled and worried, thought that if it were really that simple, then entering the first door would mean that the subsequent paths would be completely unobstructed. Were the mechanisms within the Millennium Ruins really that easy?
As expected, just as Nameless feared, Ouyang Zixin stood in front of the door for a long time, and those fish eyes showed no reaction at all, let alone responding to her. "How could this be?"
"Master, even if the method is the same, this stone door hasn't absorbed the mysterious energy from several people like the first one did. There might be some steps we've overlooked," Nameless said. After awakening in the Millennium Ruins, she felt that this place should be harmless to her; rather, it was the Yuhai Continent that was less suitable for her existence.
Ouyang Zixin nodded upon hearing this; she indeed had underestimated the situation. She then extended her hands and gently pushed against the door, but it remained completely still. Leaning her face closer, she noticed that although the gap in the Double Stone Gate appeared closed, she could faintly sense a cool breeze blowing from inside. It was very weak but still detectable. "Nameless, when you looked at this pattern earlier, did you notice any wind blowing out from inside?"
Nameless shook his head, indicating that he hadn't felt any wind while standing in front of the door.
No wind?
So this breeze must have just appeared. Was it due to her previous attempt to connect with the fish eyes or because she had casually pushed against this stone door? Ouyang Zixin stopped communicating with Nameless and instead furrowed her brows in silence while lying against the stone door, sorting through various possibilities in her mind.
Seeing Ouyang Zixin like this, Nameless chose not to disturb her and began observing the stone door and surrounding walls. The two worked together in hopes of discovering a way to enter this second stone door. Indeed, having an ally within oneself felt like cheating.
The wind inside was not continuous but came in bursts. Ouyang Zixin lay against the door for about a stick of incense's worth of time and felt that weak breeze approximately six times. The intervals between each gust became progressively shorter. Did this mean that over time, the wind would eventually become continuous?
"Could it be a countdown device?" If it truly was a countdown, then that would be troublesome; it meant they needed to act quickly to enter this stone door. After muttering to herself for a while, Ouyang Zixin decided to discuss it with Nameless but turned around only to find him also lying against the wall, seemingly preoccupied with something.
She tiptoed over and lay down on the other side of Nameless as well. After observing for a while without noticing anything unusual, she poked him with a finger and asked, "What are you doing?"
Nameless made a shushing gesture and continued lying there. Feeling somewhat bored, Ouyang Zixin decided to ignore him and sat cross-legged in front of the stone door instead. It seemed she couldn't afford to skimp on using mysterious energy; she needed to sense things properly. At least she had to try whether her mysterious energy could penetrate through this stone door to sense what lay beyond.
As her mind gathered mysterious energy and just as Ouyang Zixin was about to release it, she suddenly felt warmth at her dantian. The incomplete Taiji Yin-Yang Diagram emerged within her body and resonated with the mysterious energy in her mind, forming a bright beam of mysterious energy that connected from her third eye down to her dantian.
What was happening?
Trying to channel the limited Mysterious Energy within her dantian, Ouyang Zixin discovered that the pattern did not hinder her from releasing Mysterious Energy, so she decided to ignore it for the time being. She opened her eyes and controlled the Mysterious Energy to fly out from her forehead, aiming directly at the gap of the Double Stone Gate, attempting to pass through.
However, no matter how Ouyang Zixin tried, the gap that could blow out wind was impenetrable. The dispersed Mysterious Energy instead uncontrollably covered the stone door except for the Taiji Yin-Yang Diagram. Given the size of the door, with such a covering method, it seemed that before she found a way to open it, Ouyang Zixin's Mysterious Energy would be nearly depleted. Yet, she could not control the Mysterious Energy and, in a moment of panic, called out for Nameless.
Hearing the call, Nameless descended from the stone wall and floated behind Ouyang Zixin. Without hesitation, he clapped his hands together and channeled Mysterious Energy into her body. "Master, what is going on?"
In just a short while, a third of the Mysterious Energy within Ouyang Zixin had been consumed. Did this stone door really need to absorb Mysterious Energy before it could possibly open?
A thin layer of sweat appeared on Ouyang Zixin's forehead. She could only smile bitterly at Nameless's question; she had not expected that this stone door would autonomously absorb Mysterious Energy and that it would be uncontrollable by its master. She remembered that during the first stone door encounter, such a situation had not occurred. Even those guards had actively released Mysterious Energy only to be repelled in the end.
But what was happening here? Not only was she not being repelled, but it was also desperately absorbing her Mysterious Energy. Was it trying to drain her completely?
"Master, try forcing that pattern formed by your Mysterious Energy out of your body and see if it can resonate with the pattern on the stone door." Earlier on the stone wall, Nameless had noticed that these seemingly smooth walls had actually suffered strong impacts from external forces; however, those marks had ultimately disappeared. If it weren't for his special constitution, he might not have been able to detect them.
The stone door was different; it was truly smooth, seemingly impervious to external damage. Even direct attacks against it would likely rebound onto the side walls. Thus, it was evident that the patterns on this stone door were crucial, and the incomplete pattern within his master's body should have significant importance.
Ouyang Zixin shook her head; she had tried before, but that Yin-Yang Fish Diagram formed by Mysterious Energy remained stagnant in her dantian. It only occasionally resonated with her internal Mysterious Energy but refused to move even an inch, let alone be forced out of her body.
"How could this be?" Clearly residing within her body yet remaining uncontrollable. What significance did such Mysterious Energy hold?
Gradually, other empty areas of the stone door were covered by Mysterious Energy, while the Taiji Yin-Yang Diagram remained unchanged and even appeared dimmer under the reflection of surrounding Mysterious Energy. This discovery caused both master and servant to worry; this was clearly not a good sign, especially as the wind blowing from inside the door became increasingly dense.
"What should we do?" Ouyang Zixin felt completely helpless; she had already tried everything possible. If she ended up trapped here after passing through the first door, no one would believe it.
While they were at a loss for solutions, Yun Tianmo continued steadily walking through the passageway. This was already his third time. He also realized that these seemingly smooth stone walls were not as they appeared; there must be some mechanism allowing them to temporarily recover.
As he approached another exit in the passageway, Yun Tianmo suddenly stopped. This was where the final partition lay. He extended his arms to either side. One hand pressed against one side of the partition as Black Qi gathered in his palm; with a sudden burst of strength, he pressed against the partition—
Crack.
The partition actually retreated back into the stone wall completely.
Subsequently, all partitions Yun Tianmo passed through retracted into the stone wall, making the entire passageway appear smoother. Looking ahead, he noticed that an empty room at the end of the passage seemed to burst forth with light—almost blinding. That light had originally existed solely within the room and could not penetrate into the passageway. But now it illuminated where Yun Tianmo stood.
As the range of light shifted, Yun Tianmo discovered a strange phenomenon—
Aside from where he stood, everywhere else was as bright as day. So where had the shadows that should have appeared gone?
Lowering his hands, he turned around to look; there was no shadow behind him, and none in front of him either. Under what circumstances could such a phenomenon occur? He recalled having experienced Absolute Darkness before; could this be the legendary Absolute Light?
It is said that where there is light, there must be shadows, yet here it was all bright with no shadows at all. If this is not Absolute Light, then what could it be?
If that were the case, breaking this cycle would not be difficult. The corners of Yun Tianmo's mouth lifted in a smile, his confidence evident in his eyes. He closed his eyes and instead of stepping out of the passage, he turned back, sealing off his Six Senses and allowing his steps to wander freely.
At the moment he sealed off his Six Senses, the passage behind him collapsed after he passed through it. This meant that even if he woke up now, there would be no way back. However, strangely enough, the speed of the collapse matched perfectly with his walking pace, so there was no need to worry about being crushed beneath it.
After walking for about the time it takes to brew a cup of tea, Yun Tianmo stopped, and astonishingly, the collapse behind him also halted. He did not open his eyes but instead gathered Mysterious Energy beneath his feet and unleashed his ultimate skill, Sky Treading. In this passage that seemed only two people high, as soon as he used Sky Treading, he was already able to reach the top of the passage. Strangely enough, he was not blocked but instead passed through the stone ceiling and disappeared from the passage.
Once Yun Tianmo vanished from the passage, it could no longer support itself and collapsed with a loud crash, sending debris flying everywhere.
After emerging from the passage, Yun Tianmo finally broke through the closure of his Six Senses. He looked around and found that he was still underground, but this space was much more spacious than the previous passage. Directly in front of him stood a stone door identical to the first Double Stone Gate.
"Hey, the wind has stopped." Ouyang Zixin suddenly noticed that the wind had not blown out from the crack in the door for quite some time. This shouldn't be happening; logically speaking, as it became denser, it should have continued without interruption. Why had it suddenly stopped?
Nameless also found it strange; with the wind stopping, the Mysterious Energy continuously flowing into Ouyang Zixin's body actually began to retreat. Ouyang Zixin said, "No need to input anymore; it seems that the reason this stone door absorbs Mysterious Energy is because of that wind."
Now that the wind had stopped, Ouyang Zixin could control Mysterious Energy herself and thus refused Nameless's continued input. She stood up and leaned against the stone door again. Ouyang Zixin confirmed that this stone door no longer absorbed Mysterious Energy because when she placed her hand on it, she felt a sign that the Mysterious Energy covering its surface was actually beginning to reverse.
Ouyang Zixin was taken aback; could this mean it wanted to return Mysterious Energy to her?
Waving at Nameless, Ouyang Zixin invited him to try as well since there was also his Mysterious Energy involved here. However, when Nameless placed his hand on it, he did not feel any reversal of Mysterious Energy and looked puzzled, unsure of what Ouyang Zixin wanted him to try.
The Mysterious Energy slowly flowed back along Ouyang Zixin's hands; she could sense that this flow was different from how she released it. When she released it, it flew out from her forehead; however, now it flowed along her meridians toward her Dantian, giving her a feeling as if she were being cleansed again.
But with so much Mysterious Energy flowing back into her body all at once, wouldn't she explode from being overfilled?!
Just as Ouyang Zixin worried about whether too much Mysterious Energy would cause her to burst, she noticed that this energy did not gather back into her Sea of Consciousness but instead flowed along her meridians toward her Dantian.
"What is it trying to do?!" Ouyang Zixin's cultivation has never been traditional, so her dantian is actually quite fragile. The gathering of the Mysterious Energy could pose a danger to her. However, her attempt to redirect the Mystical Artifact midway was unsuccessful, and she could only watch as the Mysterious Energy continued to accumulate in her dantian.
"Nameless, see if you can absorb the Mysterious Energy from me."
Upon hearing this, Nameless nodded. Seeing Ouyang Zixin's expression, it was clear that something uncontrollable was happening within her. It immediately soared into the air and transformed into a beam of light that entered her forehead.
—Master, it seems that this Mysterious Energy only recognizes you.
After entering Ouyang Zixin's body, ideally, their Mysterious Energy should be shareable and interconnected. However, this time was different. Nameless not only couldn't absorb the Mysterious Energy but found it difficult to even get close.
What should I do? I've never cultivated a dantian before.
—Master, Nameless has a vague memory that seems to resemble the current situation. Try not to resist and see what these Mysterious Energies intend to do.
Damn, such unreliable memories and feelings...
Ouyang Zixin cursed inwardly but had no other options. She had no choice but to trust Nameless.
Gradually relaxing her body, Ouyang Zixin stopped resisting the entry of the Mysterious Energy. As she opened herself up, the Mysterious Energy surged in like wild horses breaking free, swirling faster and faster until it formed a small tornado-like shape in her dantian.
"Fish eye?!" (To be continued.)
