The entire Yuhai Continent has many people like Baike who strive for their families to gain access to the Millennium Ruins, but the price each person pays is different.

When Zhai Yiqi received the message from the Dreamland Royal Family, he was also calculating the likelihood of his own entry into the Millennium Ruins. "Brother, what are you thinking about?" Zhai Huan had just returned from outside and bounced over to her dazed brother, tilting her head in inquiry.
Zhai Yiqi reached out and ruffled his sister's hair with a light laugh, "Where have you been getting into mischief again?"
Hearing her brother say this, Zhai Huan pouted her lips in displeasure, "Huan'er hasn't been mischievous at all."
This time, the elders of the family had instructed him to take Zhai Huan out for a tour. He wasn't entirely clear on the specific purpose because the guard accompanying Zhai Huan was a trusted confidant of the clan leader. All arrangements were communicated to him through that guard, which left Zhai Yiqi feeling frustrated and helpless.
Zhai Huan waved her hand to send the guard away and then slyly smiled at Zhai Yiqi, "Didn't you ask me if I received any letters from home?"
As he poured water for Zhai Huan, Zhai Yiqi's hand trembled. He realized that his sister had listened to him and managed to coax a letter from the guard. He felt a mix of anticipation and fear.
After handing the water to Zhai Huan, he didn't show any urgency but instead encouraged her to drink some first. He didn't want her to get thirsty. Then he gently asked if she had the letter with her.
"Brother, I have the letter right here, but you have to promise Huan'er one condition before I show it to you," Zhai Huan said. Although she was young and didn't understand much, she was raised in a prominent family and knew a bit about the importance of the letter.
Zhai Yiqi already held a letter in his hand. However, it wasn't addressed to him but rather to Baike. If the letter in Zhai Huan's possession was also related to the Millennium Ruins, could he really make an effort for it?
"Brother, why do you always seem lost in thought when you come in?" Zhai Huan pouted and plopped down on a chair, her small stature not hindering her mischievous speculation. "Could it be that you're missing that beautiful sister?"
Her sister's guess was half right, but not entirely. However, hearing such words from this little one made Zhai Yiqi find it somewhat amusing. "Where did you learn such nonsense? Come on, what do you want from your brother?"
Ever since Zhai Yiqi had gained the family's favor, he had been intentionally kind to Zhai Huan. After all, she was the beloved daughter of the clan leader, and having her support would make many things much simpler. As for whether he was using her or not, he didn't care at all. Which prominent family wasn't like this? All familial bonds were built on the foundation of mutual benefit.
"I'm not a child anymore! I want you to promise me that wherever you go, you must take Huan'er with you." Although Zhai Huan didn't fully understand the meaning of the letter, she sensed that her brother would likely be sent somewhere by their father and the clan elders.
Upon hearing this, Zhai Yiqi felt his blood boil with excitement. Huan'er's words implied that arrangements had already been made within the clan, and these arrangements were not only related to the Millennium Ruins but also involved him. Realizing this made him restless; however, he couldn't just snatch the letter to read it. He had to suppress his excitement and said, "Huan'er is the clan leader's daughter; there are places your brother can't take you."
After a moment's contemplation, Zhai Yiqi continued, "If Huan'er lets me see the contents of the letter first, then I can decide whether to take Huan'er along. What do you think?"
Zhai Huan may have been small, but she wasn't foolish. She quickly covered the letter and refused to hand it over. She already knew that it instructed the guards to send her home immediately. But she wasn't done playing yet; she didn't want to go back. The guards wouldn't listen to her, which was why she ran to negotiate with Zhai Yiqi.
"Are you trying to trick me into giving up the letter so that the guards will send Huan'er back?" The thought of her brother going off to have fun while she was stuck at home made her unhappy. She insisted that Zhai Yiqi promise to take her along before she would reveal the letter.
Meanwhile, outside the door, the guards received word that Baike had arrived at their inn.
Bai Kexin was anxious and didn't wait for a day; instead, she found an excuse to leave the palace for a short while just to ask Zhai Yiqi if there were any messages from the Dreamland Royal Family.
"The beautiful sister is here?" Zhai Huan cheered as she dashed outside. After arriving in the Capital of the Departed Nation, they had parted ways, and little Girl actually missed Baike a bit.
Zhai Yiqi followed behind, shaking his head helplessly; it seemed he wouldn't be able to read the family's letter for now.
"Young Master Zhai, Huan'er." Baike smiled gracefully and reached out to pat Huan'er's head as she rushed over.
Zhai Yiqi also performed a bow, stepping aside to let the person in. He then asked Baike to wait a moment while he returned to his room to retrieve the message sent by Dream Nation.
Confirming that the Dreamland Royal Family had agreed to Baike's conditions, the next concern for Baike was whether the elders in her family would blame her. She had handled this matter somewhat poorly, but aside from that, she couldn't think of any other way to persuade the Crown Prince and the Fifth Prince.
"White Maiden." Zhai Yiqi noticed Baike frowning after reading and called out to her with concern.
"Thank you, Young Master Zhai."
Zhai Yiqi waved his hand, indicating that she need not be so formal; it was just passing on a message, a small effort on his part. Besides, it allowed him to see her again, so he truly didn't require such politeness.
"Pretty sister, do you have a letter too?" Huan'er asked, standing on tiptoe beside them trying to see. Unfortunately, being small meant she couldn't see anything, so she spoke up: "Huan'er has one too."
Baike was taken aback and looked at Zhai Yiqi, wondering how a letter from the family ended up in the hands of a little girl. Zhai Yiqi could only smile wryly; after all, he was just a branch of the family, and even if he was valued, it was limited.
"Huan'er, could you let your sister see the letter?" The Zhai Family was also a prominent household in Dream Nation. If they were writing now, it likely had something to do with the Millennium Ruins, which is why she wanted to take a look.
Zhai Huan felt an inexplicable fondness for Baike and leaned in closer to whisper in her ear: "But you can't tell brother; Huan'er still wants to negotiate with him."
In truth, his voice wasn't quiet at all. Moreover, they were all cultivators present; Zhai Yiqi could only pretend not to know anything. Baike slightly nodded at Zhai Yiqi and then began whispering back with Zhai Huan.
The letter indeed mentioned matters concerning the Millennium Ruins. The Zhai Family had the qualifications for this; however, Baike was somewhat surprised by how quickly they acted. (To be continued.)
