In the palace, despite the undercurrents of turmoil, the low pressure in the National Protector's Mystic Master Manor remained undisturbed. Early in the morning, the servants in the manor had shed their previous gloomy expressions, each face now adorned with joy.
"Xin'er..." Bai Su rushed to Yuexin Pavilion as soon as she received the news, tears streaming down her face as she embraced Ouyang Zixin, pouring out her worries.
"Mother." Ouyang Zixin, just waking up and still weak, found herself unable to break free from Bai Su's embrace and could only helplessly allow her to hold her.
Ouyang Hao nearby felt a twinge of emotion, while Rong Yi appeared more composed, smiling as he watched Bai Su and Ouyang Zixin, as if he were part of their moment.
"Alright, alright, it's good that you're awake. Susu, stop crying; you'll ruin your beauty," Rong Yi finally spoke up to comfort Bai Su, who had been crying non-stop.
Bai Su blushed at his words. Realizing that at her age, crying like a child was indeed inappropriate, she struggled to regain her composure. Wiping away her tears, she playfully chided, "Brother Rong, you're teasing me."
It was Ouyang Zixin's first time witnessing this interaction between the two and it caught her attention. Although she had heard their stories before, she hadn't expected that after all these years they still shared such a close bond without becoming a couple.
She wondered if her father would feel jealous.
The answer was yes! Very much so!
Unable to watch any longer, Ouyang Hao stepped forward and wrapped his arms around Bai Su, positioning himself closer to the bed. He scrutinized his daughter and said, "My lady, Xin'er will be just fine soon. If you keep being this sad and crying like this, what will happen to your health? I would be heartbroken."
Ouyang Zixin feigned a grimace and touched her arm. "Father and Mother, you two are being too mushy."
Rong Yi rolled his eyes at Ouyang Hao; he found him overly dramatic.
Bai Su first felt teased by Rong Yi and then by her own daughter. Unable to maintain her composure any longer, she let out a soft sigh and buried her head in Ouyang Hao's embrace.
This only backfired and drew laughter from everyone present.
"You all..." Bai Su stomped her foot and turned to flee. But then she hesitated; she couldn't bear to leave her daughter behind and found herself stuck in place.
Ouyang Zixin knew when to stop; after all, this was her biological mother, and she couldn't joke too much. She let Liu Ying help her sit up straight, reached out, and pulled Bai Su back, pouting, "Where does Mother want to go? I just woke up, and you can't leave."
As soon as she pouted, Bai Su's attention was immediately drawn to her, and the earlier awkwardness was forgotten. She hurriedly said, "Xin'er, Mother isn't going anywhere; I'm here to keep you company."
"Master, Madam, Miss, the Ink King has arrived," a servant reported from outside the door.
Ouyang Hao glanced at Rong Yi with some disapproval. Their daughter had just woken up; why was there such urgency? He had come uninvited, and Ouyang Hao hadn't even attended the meeting in the Main Hall yet.
Rong Yi ignored Ouyang Hao's protest and turned her head as if she knew nothing.
However, since he was already here, they couldn't stop him from entering; after all, he was also considered their daughter's savior.
Thinking of this made Ouyang Hao feel uneasy; there was an indescribable sensation stuck in his throat, and he couldn't pinpoint what felt wrong.
When Yun Tianmo entered the room, he politely greeted them before glancing at the still weak Ouyang Zixin on the bed and said lightly, "So you finally woke up."
Upon hearing this, Ouyang Zixin scoffed. What did he mean by "finally woke up"? She had been wanting to wake up all along; unfortunately, no matter how hard she tried, it didn't work. In the end, it was only with Rong Yi's help that she managed to wake up.
During her unconsciousness, she initially felt nothing. However, later on, she sensed a warm feeling as if something was wrapping around her. Then she realized someone was holding her until they returned to the residence; only then did she discover that it was Yun Tianmo.
She could hear the people around her speaking but couldn't wake up until Old Xuan Physician came and randomly messed with her face. After that, she felt like she might finally wake up. But then that uncle arrived again, and that warm feeling returned, making her urge to wake up vanish completely.
Yet she really felt an impulse to curse them out; what were these two doing?
Now that Yun Tianmo had come in and started to pressure her, how could Ouyang Zixin tolerate it?
"Speaking of which, I really should thank you both for covering me with Mysterious Energy so I could sleep well!" The way she emphasized "thank you" and "sleep well" made it clear what she meant; it seemed that it wasn't that Ouyang Zixin was too weak to wake up but rather that their Mysterious Energy had caused her prolonged slumber.
Rong Yi and Yun Tianmo exchanged glances—was there really such a thing?
"Uncle, isn't there a saying about good intentions helping..." Ouyang Zixin was always very casual when facing Rong Yi, so teasing him felt effortless.
"Stinky girl!" Rong Yi rubbed his nose, not allowing her to finish her sentence. He stepped forward and signaled Bai Su to step aside; he needed to check again.
Since he had never considered the issue from this perspective before, he hadn't checked whether the external Mysterious Energy had caused Ouyang Zixin's fainting. Now that she had brought it up, if he couldn't figure it out, he would really lose face.
Seeing her daughter joke around, Bai Su was happy to let Rong Yi examine her thoroughly to avoid any lingering health issues.
"It seems that the Mysterious Energy within you has undergone some changes," Rong Yi withdrew his hand and looked at Ouyang Zixin. Previously, most of her Mysterious Energy had gathered in her Mind, but now it appeared that there were signs of it shifting.
Ouyang Zixin stopped joking and said seriously, "Uncle, I feel like my Mysterious Energy could disperse from my Mind at any moment. When I was unconscious, your Mysterious Energy kept me in that state but also temporarily halted those signs."
Recalling her conscious moments during the fainting spell, Ouyang Zixin shared all the changes she felt in her body, including a vague sensation that some unknown Mysterious Energy seemed to be gathering in her Dantian.
"It looked somewhat like a Yin-Yang Fish Diagram, but it was missing two fish eyes on top." Ouyang Zixin thought for a moment; it did resemble a Taiji Yin-Yang Diagram, but overall it seemed incomplete.
She asked for paper and pen and sketched out the shape roughly before pushing it in front of Rong Yi. "It's something like this."
Yun Tianmo, standing nearby, examined it closely and suddenly looked up at Ouyang Zixin. "What is your connection to the ruins from a thousand years ago?" (To be continued.)
