"Jade Pendant?" Ouyang Hao frowned. This jade pendant was left by Rong Yi for Bai Su, and then Bai Su passed it on to their daughter.
However, Ouyang Zixin had always kept this jade pendant close to her. How did it come to be exposed and caught the attention of the Old Man?
For a moment, Ouyang Hao felt troubled. He looked at his wife, who was weeping inconsolably in his arms, and found it difficult to agree.
The Old Man's eyes glinted as he chuckled, "It's just an inanimate object. What harm is there in giving it to me? Why are you so reluctant?"
Upon hearing that the jade pendant was being requested, Bai Su immediately looked up and said, "What jade pendant? You can take it."
For Bai Su, nothing was more important than her daughter's life. Without hesitation, she agreed. Ouyang Hao sighed lightly, feeling relieved. After all, it would have been inappropriate for him to agree himself. Now that Bai Su had nodded in agreement, it couldn't be better.
It was only then that Yun Tianmo noticed the jade pendant peeking out from Ouyang Zixin's embrace. He had seen that item before with his master but hadn't paid much attention to it at the time. Now that the Mystic Physician was asking for it, there must be something he hadn't noticed.
Rong Yi was not an ordinary person; having his gift passed on was one thing, but now it was being used as a bargaining chip. If he found out, the Mystic Physician would likely face consequences.
Just as the Mystic Physician was about to reach for the jade pendant, Yun Tianmo's cold voice stopped him. "Do you know who gifted this jade pendant?"
The Old Xuan Physician recognized the benefits of the jade pendant. Wearing it long-term not only benefited one's health but also greatly aided those who practiced cultivation or were involved with the Mystic Physician.
Initially thinking that the jade pendant was merely a family heirloom given by an elder, he thought nothing of asking for it. However, with Yun Tianmo's remark and recalling Ouyang Hao's reaction earlier, it seemed there was more to this situation.
Could this jade pendant have significant origins?
His probing gaze shifted between Bai Su, Ouyang Hao, and Yun Tianmo, still unwilling to give up. Gritting his teeth, he said, "Since they have agreed, what does it matter who gifted it?"
With that, he reached out to grab the jade pendant. Although such items weren't particularly rare, encountering one made it hard to let go.
"You certainly have some nerve!"
A white shadow suddenly flashed in from outside the door, shooting a crystalline Mysterious Energy towards the Old Man's hand. The Old Man yelped in fright and jumped behind Yun Tianmo for cover.
Yun Tianmo glanced at the newcomer and smirked. He didn't shield the Old Man but instead stepped aside, exposing him once again.
The Old Man was furious and cursed under his breath. Did they even want him to save anyone? It was truly infuriating.
"Is that jade pendant something you can covet?" The visitor was none other than Rong Yi.
In front of the hunched Old Man, Rong Yi's ethereal demeanor made him seem like a celestial being compared to an ant, causing the Old Man to lower his head in intimidation, no longer cursing or complaining.
"Why are you here?"
"What brings you here?" Ouyang Hao and Bai Su spoke simultaneously. How could Rong Yi appear at this moment?
No one paid attention to how he could move freely within Xuan Shi Mansion without being detected. If Rong Yi could be discovered by the guards in Xuan Shi Mansion, he wouldn't deserve to be called a master of Yuhai Continent.
"Why can't I come?" Rong Yi shot a glance at Ouyang Hao and replied curtly. "If I don't come, are you planning to give the jade pendant away?"
The Old Man was outraged; it turned out this jade pendant was meant for someone else. Why should he be excluded? "A gift is someone else's property. If they are willing to exchange it, what does it have to do with you!"
Yun Tianmo observed the Old Man daring to challenge Rong Yi and couldn't help but regard him with newfound respect; he truly had some guts. Despite Rong Yi's seemingly light and easy demeanor, he was known for being vengeful and stingy, except towards those he favored.
It seemed the Old Man had not recognized Rong Yi.
Rong Yi had rarely traveled across the continent in recent years, so it was understandable that the younger generation didn't recognize him. However, given the Old Man's age, he should have known better.
"Brother Rong, Xin'er is in critical condition. That jade pendant is for Mister Xuan Medical; I promised it," Bai Su said anxiously. It was just a piece of jade; after all this talk, no one had even started treating her daughter.
With Bai Su's intervention, the Old Man suddenly felt emboldened and straightened his back to glare at Rong Yi.
"Susu, if we have that jade pendant, what do we need this old man for?" Rong Yi spoke gently to Bai Su, his soothing voice immediately calming her anxious heart.
Ouyang Hao watched from the side and interjected, "Enough talk; let's check on Xin'er first."
At their age, still feeling jealous. Rong Yi found it amusing and glanced at Ouyang Hao, who turned slightly red in embarrassment, realizing he might have overreacted.
Their silent exchange did not escape anyone's notice except for Bai Su, who remained focused on her daughter lying on the bed.
"Such arrogance." The Old Xuan Physician was usually respected throughout Yuhai Continent; how could anyone be so rude? He felt a surge of frustration. If it weren't for his lack of skill, he wouldn't be intimidated by this seemingly powerful figure.
Rong Yi turned around, his black hair creating a beautiful arc in the air as he coldly smiled at the Old Man. "Did you bring that?"
The Old Man was taken aback, wondering what he had brought.
This remark was directed at Yun Tianmo, implying that the Old Man was being clueless. However, facing the Old Man made him mistakenly think it was directed at him.
"Master." Yun Tianmo didn't bother to clarify and simply called out.
This single call left not only the Old Man stunned but also the Ouyang couple. Only Rong Yi understood Yun Tianmo's intention, rolling his eyes and snorting lightly, but he did not respond.
He knew best what kind of temperament his disciple had; calling him "Master" meant he was throwing down the gauntlet.
"You... what did you call him?" The Old Man stuttered, confused. What was going on here?
Yun Tianmo glanced at the Old Man as if watching a show and obediently moved to stand behind Rong Yi. What a joke; if he upset Rong Yi in front of outsiders, he, as Cloud Nation's Nine Commanders, would not fare well.
"Brother Rong? Master..." The Old Man had a thought in his mind but found it hard to believe. It was rumored that Cloud Nation's Nine Commanders achieved such success at a young age mainly because they had a good master in their childhood. And for someone who could be the Ninth Prince's master to be called Brother Rong by the National Guardian Mystic's wife...
This was bad, very bad.
The Old Man regretted it immediately; if he had known, he would have treated him first and bargained later. Now it seemed there might not even be a chance for him to act! (To be continued.)
P.S.: The Old Man felt like spitting blood; ha ha, serves you right for not treating properly! Rong Yi has arrived; you have nothing to do with this now, right? Still wanting to covet someone else's jade pendant~ hum hum~
