Yun Tianmo halted his movements, his brow furrowed. He could understand the orange glow on his forehead; it indicated the fusion of the Orange Element. However, what was the silver-gray light surrounding him?
He attempted to connect with Nameless, but there was no response. At that moment, Ouyang Zixin was also isolated; even though they were in the same space, she had become an unreachable presence for him.
This feeling left Yun Tianmo quite displeased, but he could only observe silently as events unfolded.
The silver-gray light vanished along with Ouyang Zixin's loud shout, so brief that one might think it was merely an illusion. However, upon looking at Ouyang Zixin again, it became clear that what had just occurred was indeed real and not a figment of imagination.
Why do I say this?
Because Ouyang Zixin, who had just moments ago appeared pale to the point of transparency, now had bright eyes and white teeth. The surface of her skin seemed to shimmer with a layer of radiant light, making her extraordinarily beautiful. Her lips, which had gradually lost their color, were now restored and even looked so moist that one couldn't help but want to taste their sweetness.
The orange glow on her forehead was now as dazzling as a rising sun, radiating halos that flowed outwards like a cauldron, cascading layers of orange light from her head down to envelop her entire body.
"How could it overflow?"
Yun Tianmo was puzzled by the overflow of the Orange Element and muttered to himself.
The rippling orange light lasted for about the time it takes to burn a stick of incense before it began to fade slowly and soon disappeared completely.
This was a sign of successful fusion.
However, before Yun Tianmo could closely observe Ouyang Zixin's changes, he noticed two streams of Mysterious Energy rising from behind her head—one gray and one nearly transparent. These two streams appeared immediately after the disappearance of the Orange Element, with almost no gap in between. What did this indicate?
Ouyang Zixin was quite bold.
Fusion requires preparation time; the timing must be precise. This meant that while fusing the Orange Element, Ouyang Zixin had already divided her focus to control this final stream of Gray Profound Energy.
Just a stick of incense ago, she had struggled greatly and nearly failed. Yet now, in less than that time, she was beginning to fuse Gray Profound Energy again—wasn't this reckless?
Initially, the two streams of Mysterious Energy rising behind Ouyang Zixin were intertwined, but they quickly began to change.
A portion of the Gray Profound Energy was extracted and merged into Ouyang Zixin's own Mysterious Energy. The colors of both streams began to shift. The gray Mysterious Energy deepened in color until it became as dark as ink; the nearly transparent Mysterious Energy also darkened until it resembled pure snow.
These two streams of Mysterious Energy first blended together, then separated, only to come back together again… and then separate once more…
After repeating this process, the colors became increasingly distinct, and finally, two clearly defined streams of Mysterious Energy were tightly adjacent to each other, with a noticeable boundary in between.
The pattern that Yun Tianmo saw was unfamiliar to him; it resembled a Gossip Yin-Yang Fish Diagram but lacked the two defining dots. Therefore, even if Ouyang Zixin were to see it at that moment, she might not recognize it.
The pattern continuously rotated behind Ouyang Zixin's head, gradually rising. Then it began to spin rapidly like a flying saucer, darting around in space as if it had lost control.
Humans are always filled with fear when faced with the unknown. Even a master like Yun Tianmo felt uneasy. He stared intently at the bizarre Mysterious Energy flying around, instinctively entering a defensive stance, his body tense as if ready to strike at any moment.
However, the pattern formed by the Mysterious Energy did not seem to intend to attack him; it merely flew erratically in space for a while before gradually shrinking. When it reduced to about the size of a walnut, it began to dart back, but its speed was too fast. It did not appear to be returning to Ouyang Zixin's Mind but seemed aimed at attacking her.
In a moment of desperation, Yun Tianmo instinctively reached out to block it, colliding forcefully with the dual-colored pattern of Mysterious Energy—
With a crisp sound of impact echoing in the space, perhaps due to his momentary lapse in judgment, he underestimated the power of Ouyang Zixin's dual-colored Mysterious Energy and ended up getting hurt.
After drawing blood, the Mysterious Energy ultimately returned to Ouyang Zixin. The trace of blood brought her back from her meditation; upon opening her eyes, she saw Yun Tianmo's injured hand still extended.
"What happened to you?"
Yun Tianmo shot her a cold glance and remained silent, causing Ouyang Zixin to feel guilty. She cautiously asked, "Me?"
Of course, who else could it be? Was there a third person in this space?
Well, except for Nameless.
With a tearing sound, Ouyang Zixin ripped a strip of cloth from her outer garment and stepped forward to bandage Yun Tianmo.
The two remained quiet without further communication. This silence made Ouyang Zixin somewhat uncomfortable. Should she apologize? She hadn't done anything wrong, but saying nothing also felt inappropriate.
"How much do you understand?" Yun Tianmo finally spoke, his eyes fixed on her.
Ouyang Zixin truly did not know much about her Mysterious Energy; how could she answer? Especially regarding the integration of Polar Bear Gallbladder—he had helped with that process, so why was he asking her now?
Originally confident, Ouyang Zixin suddenly felt guilty. Her gaze wandered, her hands twisted together behind her back, and her toes traced circles in the air.
Seeing her like this made it clear that she was indeed uninformed.
With a sigh, Yun Tianmo realized that he wouldn't be able to ask anything further, so he decided not to dwell on it. He raised his hand to glance at the bandaged wound, feeling a warmth rise within him. Although, given his cultivation level, bleeding from the wound was one thing, it didn't require bandaging; he could recover in no time.
However, ever since his mother passed away, no one had been as concerned for him as she once was. Perhaps there were those who wanted to care for him, but his cold demeanor always pushed them away.
"How ugly."
Huh?
Coughing lightly, Ouyang Zixin followed his gaze. Her bandaging skills were indeed lacking, but her good intentions were directly dismissed by Yun Tianmo's remark, leaving her feeling somewhat embarrassed.
"Is it done?" Yun Tianmo assessed the cloth strips on his hand and looked at her.
Ouyang Zixin nodded awkwardly, tilting her head to feel it and said, "It seems like there hasn't been much change."
If Polar Bear Gallbladder was not mistaken, it had already been completely absorbed by Ouyang Zixin. However, she felt that something seemed to be added. But when asked to explain, she couldn't articulate why.
He really couldn't tell if she was genuinely clueless or just pretending to be. Whenever it came to crucial moments, she always seemed to falter.
Rather than asking her, he might as well try it himself. (To be continued.)
