Chapter Sixty-One: Masked Man
As soon as the bell rang, students poured out of the classroom building like a tide. Many were deeply shocked by the scene before them; they saw five people running ahead, followed by fifteen others who were chasing and shouting angrily. The ones in front were unknown to them, but some recognized those in the back. A boy sighed to his friend, "I wonder which unlucky guy has offended Fan Shao."
Zhang Qiu reached the bottom of the building and suddenly stopped, causing Gao Zhi and the others to halt as well.
Wang Zhen caught up, pointing at Zhang Qiu and cursing, "Damn it, you run pretty fast. Why did you stop? Huh? You think I won't dare to hit you here in the classroom building?"
Zhang Qiu looked at Wang Zhen with a cold smile and walked toward him, his eyes blazing with fury. Wang Zhen had completely provoked Zhang Qiu.
Wang Zhen dismissed Zhang Qiu as he approached, standing confidently with over ten brothers behind him. Why would he be afraid of Zhang Qiu? Wang Zhen strode forward toward Zhang Qiu.
When they were about a meter apart, Zhang Qiu suddenly lunged forward and punched Wang Zhen in the stomach. Caught off guard, Wang Zhen bent over in pain. Zhang Qiu followed up with an elbow strike from above, crashing down onto Wang Zhen's back. Wang Zhen felt a surge of nausea in his lungs; his legs went weak, and he barely managed to brace himself on one hand to avoid collapsing to the ground.
Gao Zhi, Wang Zhengxiang, Yao Yu, and Zhao Pingchuan stood frozen in shock. Just moments ago, Zhang Qiu had been running with them; how had he suddenly become so formidable? Why hadn’t he shown this skill earlier?
Wang Zhen fell to the ground, leaving his brothers behind stunned as well. However, those who reacted quickly began rushing toward Zhang Qiu. Just as Gao Zhi and the others were about to help Zhang Qiu, a group of masked individuals suddenly charged out, pulling out one-meter-long baseball bats and swinging them down on Wang Zhen's crew, resulting in immediate cries of agony.
The onlooking students were dumbfounded; such scenes only existed in movies.
In just a few minutes, the Masked Men swiftly departed. In the distance, security personnel from the Security Department were rushing over with flashlights, shouting as they ran, "What’s going on? What’s happening? Everyone stay where you are!"
"Run!" Zhang Qiu shouted as he pushed Gao Zhi and the others back into the classroom building. They dashed through the building and exited through another door, continuing their escape out of the school gates.
After running a little further out of the school gate, Zhang Qiu finally stopped and said to his four brothers, who were also panting, "Thank you, Brothers."
Wang Zhengxiang waved his hand and said, "It's nothing. I can't just watch my deskmate get bullied. Besides, it wasn't even our turn to step in; who were those people anyway?"
Zhang Qiu chuckled, "My brothers."
As he went downstairs, Zhang Qiu blindly typed a text message in the dark and sent it to Yang Yu, asking him to bring some people into the school after class.
Yao Yu gave a thumbs up and praised, "That's impressive! You really have hidden depths." In Yao Yu's impression, Zhang Qiu was quite an honest student, and he didn't expect him to have such a fierce side.
At that moment, Yang Yu and the others turned the corner from the district and walked over to Zhang Qiu, greeting him.
Zhang Qiu introduced both parties to each other, and Yang Yu smiled politely. Yang Yu was simply giving face to Zhang Qiu; he usually wouldn't even glance at these people. This wasn't because Yang Yu looked down on them but because he felt they weren't in the same league. At that moment, Yang Yu had no idea that in the future, they would be closer than brothers.
"Brother Qiu," Zhao Pingchuan also used this group’s term for Zhang Qiu, "Now that you've hit Fan Shao's people, I’m afraid they won't let it go easily."
Before Zhang Qiu could respond, Yang Yu spoke up first: "What Fan Shao? If he dares to mess with Brother Qiu, then it's simple—let's fight!"
Zhao Pingchuan glanced at Yang Yu's demeanor and closed his mouth.
Zhang Qiu looked at them with concern: "I'm more worried about you guys. I'm afraid of dragging you into this, so I tried to delay until after class when Yang Yu and the others arrived before taking action. But this situation has gotten a bit out of hand; so many people saw it that even the Security Department got involved."
"Brother Qiu, thank you." After hearing this from Zhang Qiu, Zhao Pingchuan finally understood why Zhang Qiu chose to run first before taking action; it was all for their sake.
Zhang Qiu pondered for a moment before saying, "When we leave the classroom, especially when going to the restroom, don't go alone. We can't do much about the school side, but we need to be cautious about Zeng Fan."
"Got it, Brother Qiu."
"Brother Qiu, we'll head home first. See you tomorrow."
Zhang Qiu nodded and said, "Make sure to rest early when you get home. I'll treat you all to dinner next week."
"Sounds good!"
"Goodbye, Brother Qiu..."
Yang Yu also said to the Brothers behind him, "Alright, there's nothing else today. You all can head home."
"Yes!" The Brothers left one after another.
"Thank you, Brothers," Zhang Qiu thanked them one by one.
After everyone had left, Zhang Qiu looked at Yang Yu and smiled while pointing to a nearby barbecue place. "Shall we grab some?"
"Absolutely!" Yang Yu replied cheerfully.
