Chapter Fifty-Nine: One Wave After Another 0

The night grew deeper, and a thick fog gradually spread across the land. The moonlight appeared hazy and pale under the cover of the fog. As the bustling Beilan County Town began to settle into calmness, the entire Beiluan High School was brightly lit. In each classroom, students sat neatly at their desks, focused on their pens, immersed in their studies. The thick stack of textbooks and endless piles of papers were the foundation for changing their destinies. 0

"Whoo! Whoo!" 0

While pondering a difficult math problem, Zhang Qiu paused his writing, glanced around the classroom to ensure safety, and then quietly took out his phone. 0

"Brother Qiu, we have arrived, we're at the school gate. — Yang Yu" 0

Zhang Qiu checked the time; it was nine twenty-four, with ten minutes left until class ended. With only ten minutes to go, Zhang Qiu lost patience. After putting away his phone, he capped his fountain pen, folded the unfinished Mathematics Test, and stuffed it along with other necessary items into his bag. As soon as the bell rang, Zhang Qiu would rush to meet Yang Yu. 0

After packing up, Zhang Qiu sat back in his seat, lost in thought. He had intended to call Song Weidong, but he was momentarily stunned by his own hesitation; perhaps this was a good thing. However, Zhang Qiu still didn’t dare let his guard down—who knew if Song Weidong would catch on? 0

Having practiced martial arts for years, Zhang Qiu had considerable wrist strength, but it was only relative to ordinary people. Even with several more years of practice, he wouldn’t be able to drive a playing card into a door frame. As for that playing card, it was one he used during magic tricks; wrapped in paper was a layer of ultra-thin steel. 0

Even if Song Weidong was genuinely intimidated and hesitant to act, if Liu Xiaolong came personally with people to confront him outside of school, it would lead to a major conflict. Zhang Qiu chuckled self-deprecatingly; ever since high school began, he had been cautious and avoided touching the strict discipline of Beiluan High School. Fighting was something he never dared to consider. Who would have thought that as graduation approached, everything would come crashing down at once? 0

While Zhang Qiu was deep in thought, the front door of the classroom suddenly swung open. Instinctively, he pulled out a book from the thick stack on his desk. He didn’t want the teacher to see his desk empty; if discovered by the teacher, he would surely face another round of nagging. 0

"Who is Zhang Qiu, come out!" 0

Upon hearing his name called, Zhang Qiu instinctively looked toward the door. It turned out that it wasn’t a teacher who had entered but someone looking for him. Song Weidong had caught on! Suddenly realizing that Song Weidong must have brought people with him again sent a chill down Zhang Qiu's spine. If he could intimidate him once before, this time there would be no avoiding a fight. Sighing inwardly, fighting at school was something that Zhang Qiu truly wished to avoid. 0

"What's going on? Why are you shouting at the door during class?" Before Zhang Qiu could respond, Jiang Xue, who was on duty at the podium, stood up angrily, her fury directed entirely at the group of Rascally Boys. The solution she had painstakingly thought out was completely disrupted by that shout. 0

The boys at the door paid no attention to Jiang Xue's anger; instead, one of them proudly raised his head and asked, "Zhang Qiu is in this class, right? Call him out." 0

"Whatever it is, wait until after class. Don't disturb our classmates while they're studying, or I'll call the teacher," Jiang Xue said, her hostile gaze fixed on the boy at the door. She could tell that he wasn't there to make friends with Zhang Qiu. 0

Jiang Xue and Zhang Qiu had been classmates for two years and had a good relationship. They often hung out together after school. To Jiang Xue, Zhang Qiu was an interesting person with a strong sense of justice. Being with Zhang Qiu made her happy, and she didn't want to see him bullied. 0

While Jiang Xue was arguing with the Rascally Boys, Zhang Qiu had already arrived at the door. With Jiang Xue protecting him like this, he couldn't let her suffer any grievances. 0

Zhang Qiu pointed at the arrogant boy at the door and said coldly, "What are you shouting at a girl for? I am Zhang Qiu. If you have something to say, let's go outside. Don't disturb my classmates' studies here." 0

Jiang Xue had been focused on the group of boys at the door and hadn't noticed that Zhang Qiu had come to the classroom entrance. As she saw Zhang Qiu about to leave with those boys, she felt a sense of urgency creeping in like ants crawling over her. She quickly stopped Zhang Qiu and said, "It's still class time; go back!" 0

Zhang Qiu smiled lightly and disregarded his classmates' gazes as he gently patted Jiang Xue's head and said, "Don't worry, I won't get into any trouble." 0

Jiang Xue—Zhang Qiu always called her "Xue." There was a time when Zhang Qiu considered pursuing her but later thought it would be better to remain friends. They both remained single and maintained a relationship that was more than friends but less than lovers. 0

"Are you really going to come out or not?" the boy at the door provoked. 0

Zhang Qiu cast a stern glance at the boy who spoke. The latter suddenly shivered in fear; after glancing at his companions behind him, he regained his earlier arrogance. 0

"Don't worry," Zhang Qiu assured Jiang Xue as he smiled and stepped down from the podium. Watching Zhang Qiu leave with that group made Jiang Xue feel increasingly worried for him. 0

As soon as Zhang Qiu stepped out of the classroom, he realized that there were so many people in the hallway, roughly estimating at least a dozen. Zhang Qiu smiled; it seemed they really thought highly of him. However, he was not worried at all; no one would be foolish enough to start something in the teaching building. Once they reached the open area downstairs, as long as he wasn't surrounded, it wouldn't matter how many people there were. 0

"Why isn't Song Weidong here?" Zhang Qiu noticed that Song Weidong was absent from the crowd. 0

The boy who had been talking at the door turned around and shouted loudly without caring that they were still in the teaching building, "Why are you getting involved in Fan Shao's business? Are you looking for trouble on purpose?" 0

"Fan Shao." Zhang Qiu repeated this name in his mind. He suddenly realized that this group of people was not sent by Song Weidong to deal with him. The Fan Shao mentioned by that person was none other than Zeng Fan, Song Weidong's rival and the leader of the senior year. 0

Zhang Qiu smiled helplessly; he didn't need to worry, as this group was definitely sent by Liu Xiaolong. Since Song Weidong couldn't handle him, Zeng Fan had come to find trouble instead. Zhang Qiu couldn't help but sigh; Liu Xiaolong had quite a bit of influence. 0

This made sense; most delinquents in society often formed ties with a certain "boss" at school, and school "bosses" were usually eager to befriend "social heroes" to strengthen their own power. 0

This time, it seemed he had offended everyone he could offend; things were getting more and more interesting. In the darkness, Zhang Qiu's hands fumbled in his pockets, typing out messages one by one. His eyes radiated a predatory gaze, as if he intended to devour everyone around him. 0
