Chapter 22: Zhang Qiu's Plan (Part 2) 0

"Uncle, I'm in a bit of trouble..." As soon as Zhang Qiu spoke, He Jun interrupted, "I know, it's about the post. Don't worry, I've already taken care of it. But remember, don't stir up any more trouble. The college entrance exam is coming up; focus on your studies, that's the right path." 0

Zhang Qiu smiled helplessly, "Uncle, I understand your concerns. But this time, trouble has come knocking at my door, and I don't think I can avoid it." 0

"What happened?" He Jun's voice turned serious. 0

Zhang Qiu didn't answer directly but instead asked, "Uncle, do you really want to follow the leadership of your director? In terms of qualifications, you're far more capable than he is. You've worked hard to reach the position of deputy director as a pragmatic police officer, and now you're in your forties. But what about Wang Guodong? He's just over thirty and has already become the director. You must know better than I do what’s behind that. Do you want to replace him? I believe if you were Police Chief Wang Guodong, Beilan County would be much better off." 0

"What nonsense are you talking about? Don't say such things outside," He Jun admonished Zhang Qiu. These words could not be spoken lightly; if others heard them, it would cause unnecessary trouble. He Jun did not deny Zhang Qiu's points; in fact, he acknowledged that his nephew had some valid reasoning. However, what could be done? Reality was as it was and did not change according to one's will. 0

"Uncle!" Zhang Qiu called out with deep emotion. This was both for his uncle's unfulfilled potential and for his own grand plan. 0

He Jun continued, "Police Chief Wang Guodong was brought in from elsewhere and won't be promoted locally. Moreover, among the three deputy directors in the bureau, two are Wang Guodong's people. This murky water is not something you can navigate. Right now, your priority should be to study hard." 0

Zhang Qiu understood his uncle's difficulties but became agitated and raised his voice, "Do you really want to spend your whole life in a deputy position? You're already forty; if you don't climb higher now, there may not be another opportunity." 0

After a brief pause, Zhang Qiu continued, "Don't you want to realize your ambitions? You graduated from Public Security University. You used to ask me if I wanted to be an honorable People's Police; I still remember those words. Have you forgotten them?" 0

There was silence on the other end of the line. Wang Jinghan tugged at Zhang Qiu's arm and whispered, "Calm down, take it slow." 0

Zhang Qiu's words reminded He Jun of himself when he had just graduated. Back then, he was full of ambition and determined to make a significant impact and bring peace to his jurisdiction. However, after starting his career, he realized that the political arena was murky; every step he took felt exceptionally heavy. Fortunately, he held onto his principles and did not betray his conscience, but this led to him being marginalized. After a long pause, He Jun finally said slowly, "Let's talk about your troubles then. After all this talk, what do you want me to do?" 0

"I am currently inside the county hospital building, and Liu Xiaolong—the one who injured my father—his brother has blocked me in the hospital." 0

"Should I send someone to rescue you?" He Jun asked, puzzled. He felt that his nephew's words were not simply about rescuing him. 0

"No, I have come up with a plan." Finally getting to the point, Zhang Qiu suppressed his excitement and tried to keep his voice steady. "I am going to call a friend and have him bring people over. After Both Parties clash, you can show up with your team and arrest everyone. Of course, the people I bring should be let go; just take the others back to the station. The people Liu Xiaofei brings are all connected to his brother Liu Xiaolong, and they are involved in the demolition issue. My dad has a disability assessment related to this, which you had arranged." 0

"And then? Is it really that simple?" 0

"These things may seem trivial, but they can escalate. It will draw public attention to the police department, and the higher-ups won't be able to withstand the pressure. Police Chief Wang Guodong will have to be replaced. Even if you can't become the chief yourself, having someone else in that position is better than suppressing you under Wang Guodong." 0

He Jun fell into deep thought again; he was indeed somewhat tempted by Zhang Qiu's proposal. He was getting older, and if he didn't make an effort now, he would truly lose any opportunity. Moreover... as he thought about it, a light shone in He Jun's eyes that hadn't been there for a long time. 0

"The arrest and release part is good; I can take people over without letting Wang Guodong know. Once we have them captured, it won't matter if he tries to intervene; besides, he wouldn't bother speaking up for just a few thugs." He was confident about making arrests; catching a few thugs was nothing for someone with years of experience in law enforcement. There was even a third-class merit medal preserved on his home cabinet. 0

"Then it's settled; I'll call my friend right now." Zhang Qiu was so excited he could almost jump up. Initially, he only wanted to deal with Liu Xiaolong and avenge his father. However, the development of events had exceeded his expectations, and now he was about to pull off a big operation. 0

"Wait." He Jun stopped Zhang Qiu. Although he was tempted, he still had his concerns; this matter was too hasty. Wang Guodong wouldn't have reached his current position without some capability. Especially when it comes to handling negative news, every leader has accumulated valuable experience. 0

"This matter could very well be suppressed from above; no one wants negative news under their watch, especially if it involves them personally," He Jun said with concern. 0
