With a resounding clang, a flash of bright light streaked across, resembling a long rainbow piercing the sun, accompanied by a ghostly howl, aimed at the roaring Byron.
The Ethereal Thirteen Swords were unleashed in the hands of Hong Lian, executed with far more finesse and skill than Bu. This was not due to Hong Lian's superior mastery of the Ethereal Thirteen Swords, but rather because of Hong Lian's terrifying speed, akin to always being in the second stage of Bloodline Transformation.
Using this speed to perform the Ethereal Thirteen Swords, each strike was faster than the last, so fast that it appeared as if only one sword was thrusting out, when in fact it was seven swords.
Seeing the dazzling sword light approaching him, Byron laughed in anger. He swung his Broad Sword not to block the blade but aimed directly at Hong Lian's head. Thunder and lightning crackled along the edge of the sword, showcasing its lethal power.
Hong Lian remained calm, knowing that Byron relied on his Thunder Armor for protection, which gave him the audacity to adopt such a reckless fighting style. However, since his opponent showed no fear, with his own physical strength and the forbidden technique Transform Void, there was no need for him to hold back.
His eyes narrowed slightly as the bright sword light suddenly exploded into seven points of cold radiance, resembling seven silver serpents dancing wildly, flicking their dangerous tongues as they lunged toward Byron's exposed face outside his armor.
A ghostly howl echoed as three shadowy figures merged into the sword from behind Hong Lian. The seven swords launched simultaneously, splitting into seven beams of light with varying sharpness and attack forms, all targeting Byron's Seven Orifices.
"Damn it!" Byron thought in shock. With an arrow already nocked on the bowstring, he had no choice but to release it. He suppressed his impulse to evade as he continued his downward strike with the Broad Sword aimed at Hong Lian's head. The thunderous sound reverberated within him as he summoned every last ounce of energy. Just before the seven beams of light reached him, electric sparks flickered around his head as a thin, nearly transparent Thunder Helmet suddenly materialized.
Boom!
The first four swords aimed at his ears and nose shattered upon contact with the Thunder Helmet. However, the impact from these four strikes evidently did not suffice to maintain its integrity; the helmet became increasingly transparent and dimmed.
"Die!" Byron's entire head buzzed from the impact of the four swords, intensifying his rage. The Broad Sword he had swung ultimately crashed down hard onto Hong Lian's head.
Thunderous! The lightning surged; this strike was a rare opportunity for Byron to unleash all his strength.
Hong Lian’s gaze remained unwavering as he allowed the Broad Sword to land on his head. The blinding lightning illuminated Byron’s ferocious visage like a demon.
With a swift motion, one sword descended in response; Byron's eyes nearly bulged out.
At that moment, he had only one chance to widen his eyes because the fifth to seventh swords aimed at his mouth and eyes had already shattered the protective Thunder Helmet and plunged fiercely into his body.
The spinning Seventh Sword transformed into an Energy Wheel, directly slicing through Byron's mouth full of white teeth, shattering them to pieces. The point of the Fifth Sword manifested as a Ethereal Light, piercing through his right eye, while the Sixth Sword took the form of a cold gleam, penetrating his left eye and continuing on to pierce through his skull.
"No!"
With his mouth a bloody mess, Byron let out a horrific scream. His entire jaw was nearly severed by the Energy Wheel, and both of his eyes were blinded. Even his skull was pierced by the sharp Sword Aura.
If it weren't for his body being close to the stage of iron skin and bronze bones, and if he didn't have the Thunder Helmet to weaken the lethality of the Sword Aura, he would have been dead by now.
"Kill!" Exiting the state of Transform Void, Hong Lian's face was slightly pale, but without hesitation, he swung his sword again. Energy surged within him, and the sharp Sword Aura re-emerged, moving like a comet across the sky. With one strike, swift as a shooting star, he aimed for Byron's neck.
Despite being gravely injured and on the brink of death, Byron, with his peak strength at Intermediate Level 5, exuded a formidable aura that made anyone hesitate to approach.
Even Simba and Bernie had their own deadly trump cards; how could someone as strong as Byron not have one?
Bu would not give his opponent any chance to turn the tide. His focus was entirely on Hong Lian. The connection between his true self and the Avatar was seamless; there was no hesitation—when he struck, it was meant to take a life.
The sword light blazed fiercely, and Byron's mournful scream abruptly ceased. A chill rose from his feet, surging upward through his spine and into his brain, causing his body to tremble uncontrollably. It felt as if a bucket of cold water had been poured over him; even pain seemed distant.
Byron retreated quickly, his steps chaotic yet swift. In the blink of an eye, he had created a distance of ten zhang, but he was fast; Hong Lian's sword was faster, relentlessly pursuing him like a parasite.
"I'll fight back!" Though blinded, Byron still possessed his Mental Power, allowing him to sense the current danger. He felt his head growing heavier; the enchanting sound of the Flute Sound echoed in his ears but no longer felt clear. He knew that even without this relentless pursuit, he wouldn't survive much longer. But now that the enemy was hot on his heels, he resolved that if he were to die, he would take someone down with him.
A fierce and desperate aura suddenly surged from Byron. Thunderous lightning appeared around him; nearly all of his internal energy had been consumed. Even with forbidden techniques at his disposal, he could not use them now. At this moment, he burned through his life force, squeezing out his last potential as he roared and swung out a sword!
The Broad Sword vibrated with a buzzing sound as faint arcs of electricity danced upon it. Though this electric arc barely covered its surface, it was far more terrifying than all previous lightning combined.
This arc was red; it represented the killing thunder that Byron sacrificed with his life force!
The two men with their swords rapidly closed in on each other. With a clang that shattered the thick fog around them, their swords inevitably crossed paths. The most direct result was that Hong Lian's Azure Morning Sword broke in two.
The red lightning detached from Byron's sword and suddenly surged up Red Lotus's body. As Red Lotus, holding the broken sword, brushed past Byron, a splash of blood erupted at the moment they crossed paths.
Drip, drip.
Drops of blood fell from the fractured sword onto the ground. Red Lotus's face grew increasingly pale as all his Mental Power was consumed to maintain the Transform Void state. His body was enveloped in red arcs of electricity, which only slowly dissipated after a couple of breaths.
Exiting the Transform Void state, his entire body fell into paralysis. With Red Lotus's strong physique, the moment that thread of Red Lightning surged through him felt like being struck by lightning; an excruciating pain tore through him as if his body were about to be ripped apart. Had he not quickly activated Transform Void, he would have suffered severe injuries.
Bang!
A dull thud echoed as a heavy object hit the ground. Red Lotus touched the Azure Morning Sword, now broken in two, and turned to see Byron with a gaping wound on his neck, blood spraying like a fountain. As Byron lay on the ground convulsing, he emitted pained sounds before dying.
"Got it!"
Bu Chang let out a breath and looked towards Eve, who had stopped playing and gently moved her jade flute away from her lips. She smiled back at him, her bright eyes flashing with a hint of pride.
"So, do you think that sometimes my contributions are far greater than those of some self-proclaimed powerful Fellows?" Eve seemed to imply something more with her words as she glanced at Bu with an air of triumph.
"Oh dear, this girl is already getting bold," Bu Xin muttered under his breath. He raised an eyebrow and grabbed Eve's arm, pulling her soft figure into his embrace amidst her startled cry. "You may not think so, but now that you mention it, your contributions are indeed quite significant at times."
After saying this, he unabashedly began to tease her, causing Eve to cry out repeatedly until she begged for mercy before he finally let her go reluctantly.
"You just like to bully me." Eve tossed out a remark that could be interpreted as either sulky or resentful, her cheeks flushed red. Seeing Red Lotus approach slowly made her turn away, unable to face this so-called "big brother."
Byron ultimately lasted only a little over ten breaths before dying. His Amplification Equipment was impressive, and Bu naturally had no qualms about taking anything from a dead person.
After some selection, he finally picked out an intact pair of Wrist Guards, a shimmering white Belt, and a Gem Ring with a five percent Amplification power value. Of course, he also made sure to take the rather appealing Broad Sword and stow it away.
But that wasn't all; the greatest treasure was the Storage Bracelet on Byron's wrist. Bu treated it as a top priority and almost yanked it off Byron's wrist in haste. He eagerly sent a thread of Mental Power into it to check its contents.
Upon seeing this, Bu was so shocked that he nearly bit his tongue.
"Oh, Huang, thick earth, great mercy and compassion of Guanyin Bodhisattva, I finally get to be Bu Baiwan!" After the surprise, Bu's hand holding the Storage Bracelet began to tremble slightly, looking utterly dazed and lost, which made Eve unable to help but laugh.
Not to mention the few pieces of Excellence Level top-notch Amplification Equipment he stripped from Byron, nor the semi-legendary Broad Sword that nearly rivaled the Taiyuan Spear with its outstanding attributes, just the pile of sparkling Azure Jade in the Storage Bracelet looked like a small hill, each piece being fifth-grade, and at a glance, there were at least tens of thousands of them.
"My goodness!" Bu's eyes sparkled, his heart pounding violently, almost fainting from happiness.
These tens of thousands of Fifth-Grade Azure Jade, if sold at the auction price from the last Blue Castle Auction House, would fetch two hundred million Silver Kall for a set of twenty thousand pieces.
The more he looked down, the greater his joy in Bu Xin grew. There were neatly arranged dozens of sets of Excellence Level Amplification Equipment, all uniform in style, clearly prepared for some loyal subordinates.
There were over a hundred bottles of various alchemical potions with different uses and high grades.
Scattered about, Bu felt numb by the end; not to mention anything else, just this storage space being five times larger than his own Storage Bracelet was already a treasure in itself.
Moreover, at the very end, Bu saw something that nearly made his mind go blank—a Skill Book—Thunderous Strike.
Mind Method Secret Manual: Thunderous Strike.
