When you see her, it's hard to imagine that this disheveled girl was once a proud university student. Now, she is imprisoned in a dilapidated dark room.

During the Spring Festival in 2008, a local newspaper received a call to their helpline. The caller claimed he had not seen his niece for eight years and later discovered that she was imprisoned in an abandoned house.
Upon learning of the situation, reporters immediately drove to the girl's location.
Outside the house, there was a thick layer of snow on the ground, and the temperature was below minus ten degrees Celsius. Yet, the girl was confined in this drafty, run-down house.
When the reporters entered the room, they nearly vomited because it was not only in shambles and covered in dust but also filled with garbage and human waste.
What startled the reporters even more was when a girl suddenly emerged from beneath a tattered cotton batting on the sofa in the room.
Caught off guard, they were shocked by her appearance.
Due to years of neglect, the girl's hair had become tangled, and her nails were shockingly long.
When the reporter gently lifted the girl's blanket, a foul odor wafted out, and the girl appeared frightened by the presence of a stranger. However, when faced with the reporter's questions, she seemed to be in a state of mental distress, speaking incoherently and curling up in the blanket, talking to herself.
Through inquiries with nearby neighbors, it was learned that the imprisoned girl was named Xiao Min, and she had been in this dilapidated house for eight years. It was hard to imagine how she had survived in such harsh conditions for so long.
The reporter also discovered that Xiao Min actually had family nearby, and more importantly, their home was considered relatively well-off in the local context.
So why was Xiao Min confined by her family in this rundown house?

Just then, a speeding van suddenly stopped in front of everyone, and a man who claimed to be Xiao Min's father got out. He had come to bring Xiao Min clean clothes and blankets, as well as some plastic sheets for repairing the house.
It seemed that Xiao Min's father intended for his daughter to endure this winter in the broken house and had no plans to take her back home.

He stated that he had spent over a hundred thousand on medical treatment for his daughter and that the family could no longer bear the burden. But just after he finished speaking, the neighbor brought over a bowl of egg noodles. Upon seeing the food, Xiao Min started eating heartily, looking as if she couldn't get enough from three meals a day.
It seemed that Xiaomin's Father was just talking nonsense.
What could be the reason for him to keep his daughter locked up in this dilapidated house?
This house was not only in disrepair and prone to danger, but the environment was also so harsh. Xiaomin's Father did not agree to bring his daughter back home.
Xiaomin's Father even told the reporters that he had already spent a lot of money on his daughter and could no longer afford it, so he would let her fend for herself.
