While Director Qin was busy filming an advertisement, Deputy County Magistrate Wu had officially become the on-site commander of the arts festival. 0

After the first day, leaders from various levels returned home, leaving only local villagers and guests from neighboring counties or cities, as well as merchants visiting for the New Year’s Festival. There were also sponsors involved in advertising and activities. 0

With no higher authorities present, County Magistrate Wu had completely taken charge. 0

After the performances concluded on the afternoon of the first day, the stage was handed over to 14 programs selected from townships, along with performances from the County Song and Dance Troupe and other teams. 0

There were songs and dances, group performances and solo acts… one after another, they took the stage. 0

Apart from the final three grand prizes awarded to amateur teams, every participant received a cash subsidy, and with the county television station broadcasting the event, it turned into a grand showcase for the community. 0

By the fourth day, signs of dwindling crowds began to appear. 0

Exhibitors were also preparing to pack up and leave the next day. 0

Chen Ming and Chai Liang, along with a group of Japanese invaders, finally awaited Qin Chizian. 0

Chen Ming clapped him on the shoulder: “It’s been four days; you’ve really kept us waiting!” 0

Qin Chizian repeatedly apologized: “I’m so sorry; I’ve been busy!” 0

Chai Liang chimed in: “Did they want to see how rattan weaving is done at a farmer’s home? Is that a problem?” 0

What could possibly be a problem? 0

Qin Chizian got in the car with Chen Ming, Chai Liang, and two leading Japanese guests, heading to Zhao Tiechui's home in Xikou Village. 0

The family had moved their rattan weaving setup to an old house in the west of the village, where there was plenty of space. 0

Zhao Tiechui smiled so broadly upon seeing Qin Chizian that his eyes nearly closed: “Qin Cadre, why are you here instead of busy at the venue?” 0

Qin Chizian gestured to Chai Liang and Chen Ming: “These are guests from Yanjing; I wanted to show them what our rattan weaving looks like.” 0

The two Japanese who came along were named Kameda Yuji and Yata Hiroo; both understood Chinese and nodded while bowing repeatedly. 0

Seeing outsiders present made Zhao Tiechui suddenly lose his weaving skill; his hands became clumsy. 0

Zhao Tiechui grew anxious and kicked his son: “Look at you! As if Japanese aren’t human!” 0

This left Qin Chizian and his companions exchanging glances: Old man, even if you think Japanese aren’t human, you shouldn’t insult them in front of their faces. 0

In the spacious farmhouse courtyard, Kameda Yuji recorded with his DV camera: in the frame, a farmer was intently engaged in handcrafting rattan weaving. The winter sunlight bathed him; his hands were rough yet strong as he picked up a vine and cut it neatly with a sharp tool. The vine was tough yet elastic; he skillfully manipulated it into various shapes and styles. His fingers danced nimbly among the vines like a skilled weaver at work. The entire process was smooth and practiced, almost like an art form. 0

He was weaving a wicker basket. First, he pulled out several vines and bent them into the base of the basket before starting to weave around this foundation. His gaze was focused and eager as if he were communicating with these vines to bring out their most beautiful forms under his hands. Occasionally, he would trim some vines with his tool to better fit his vision. 0

As time passed, a beautiful Wicker Basket gradually took shape, its edges undulating, appearing both practical and aesthetically pleasing. 0

Two Japanese individuals continuously exclaimed "Yoshi Yoshi" in admiration. 0

While the two Japanese were engrossed in the lively scene, Qin Chizian's phone rang. 0

"Xiao Qin, where are you?" It was Wu Youshun's voice. 0

"Deputy County Magistrate Wu, I'm over here in Xikou Village. Is there something you need?" Qin Chizian asked. 0

"Come back quickly; something went wrong here!" Wu Youshun's tone became abrupt. 0

"What happened, County Magistrate Wu? I'm still with guests from Yanjing!" Qin Chizian inquired further. 0

"A few Japanese friends have arrived at the venue, and due to the language barrier, they got into a conflict with the villagers and are now trapped by them. I had Peng Guoan take people to rescue them, but he mishandled the situation on-site, leading to even greater chaos!" Wu Youshun's words conveyed both helplessness and a sense of impatience from a position of authority. 0
