John continued to lead the team deeper into the underground cave with heavy footsteps. Their light sources could only illuminate a limited area, but even so, everyone could feel the abnormality of this place. Twisted rocks and unusual terrain made them uneasy, but what was even more surprising was that they had stumbled upon a crude house.
"Look at this," John illuminated a small hut made of rough stones and wood with his flashlight, "These houses look man-made, but definitely not built by humans."
Taktron carefully observed for a moment, then nodded. "Based on my analysis of ancient records, these might be Skaven settlements. We used to think of them as mythical or something from stories, but now it seems they are real - or at least they once existed."
"What are Skaven?" Alixia furrowed her brow.
"They are a very ancient species, said to be extinct. They are creatures twisted by chaotic forces, extremely dangerous, adept at lurking and assassination. They have their own social structure and beliefs, worshiping chaotic deities, and are skilled in using poisons and concealed weapons," Taktron explained in detail.
Karenmu couldn't help but tighten his grip on the weapon in his hand. "It sounds like we need to be even more careful."
"Indeed," John said, "stay alert and be prepared to encounter the enemy at any time."
Taktron emitted a brief electronic signal from the device in his hand and said to John and the others, "Our purpose in coming here is not only to complete the mission, but also to learn something else from this experience."
"Learning?" Alixia said mockingly.
"Yes, understanding these Skaven may be advantageous for us," Taktron said.
John smiled slightly, "Continue, scholar."
Taktron excitedly pointed to the distant houses and continued to explain, "These should be the settlements of Skaven. You see, even in such harsh conditions, they are able to carry out such complex construction activities, proving that their social structure is much more complex than we imagined."
"Social structure?" Karenmu doesn't seem very interested, but still asks politely.
"Yes. Skaven have a hierarchical society. Because they live in such dense and resource-limited environments, their socio-economic system heavily relies on plunder and looting. They have a culture that worships strength and combat skills. In some ways, they are actually quite similar to the soldiers of the empire."
"What can we do with this information?" John asked.
"At the very least, we can understand how they operate, which will give us more options in terms of combat and tactical planning," Taktron replied.
John nodded slightly, "Then let's continue forward. I don't want to stay in this place for too long."
The four of them continued their journey, but this time, with Taktron's explanation, they gained a better understanding of Skaven and became more cautious as a result. They knew that they were not just fighting a group of beasts, but a society with its own beliefs and culture. This made their next actions full of uncertainty, but also more intriguing.
John led the team slowly crawling to a vantage point. Gripping the handgun tightly, he turned to everyone and said, "These Skaven, judging from their recent behavior and armament, shouldn't pose too much of a threat. They are primitive and backward. With our equipment and training, we should be able to handle them easily."
Alixia gave him a cold look and then pointed to the distance, " John, take a look for yourself."
John turned around, his gaze piercing through the distant mist, then his pupils suddenly contracted. There, just beneath a modern city, lay a massive Skaven kingdom. The densely packed rat people were busy moving stones and iron ore, while craftsmen were industriously producing one ancient and evil weapon after another.
"What... what is going on?" John's voice was filled with astonishment.
Alixia A faint smile, but this smile has no warmth: "Backwardness and barbarism do not mean they cannot be a threat. Especially in the soil where chaotic forces breed, anything can become very dangerous."
Taktron also nodded and continued, "Indeed, the social structure of this race is more complex. They have a high degree of organization and division of labor, and we cannot ignore the possible connection between them and the forces of chaos."
Karen tightly grasped his weapon and said in a low voice, "It seems that we need to reassess the difficulty and risk of this mission."
John took a deep breath and then tightly grasped his rifle, "Okay, after reassessment, we will take immediate action. This rat kingdom, no matter how powerful they are, cannot become puppets of chaos."
Everyone nodded, fully understanding that the upcoming mission would be even more challenging and dangerous than they had anticipated. But no one backed down, because they all understood that this was not just a battle, but a war that would determine the future of the entire Yakannix Planet and the empire.
John stared intently at the surrounding environment, his brow furrowed. "Taktron, I need you to conduct a detailed environmental analysis immediately. Find the best position for the attack, time is running out."
Taktron nodded and carefully adjusted the settings of his smart glasses. This device, created by Tau Technology, not only had high analytical capabilities but also synchronized with his personal data network. He began scanning the intricate Skaven Kingdom below, with data streams constantly flashing in his field of vision.
"Scanning initiated," he murmured to John, as the optical lenses of his glasses spun at high speed, scanning at a frequency far beyond the range of human perception.
A few seconds later, Taktron's glasses captured an important piece of information. "Found it," he nervously swallowed.
"To the northeast, about 1,500 meters away, there is a high-level chemical reaction area. Preliminary analysis indicates that this is a manufacturing facility for explosives or energy weapons. Attacking here could effectively weaken the enemy's forces and potentially trigger a chain reaction, causing serious damage to them."
John carefully listened to Taktron's report, and then began to further analyze the strategy. "If we can make a precise strike on that factory, not only can we destroy the enemy's equipment manufacturing, but we may also ignite other flammable materials, further expanding the scope of destruction."
"Correct," Taktron added, "If that factory is indeed as important as we predict, attacking it may also throw the enemy into disarray, disrupting their command structure. This will give us more opportunities to penetrate deeper into their interior and further eliminate them."
John nodded, "Good, that's our goal. Let's get ready to move."
