An aged hand rested on her wrist.
Xia Yangyang's heart tightened. Victor had even called Shaman; had she been unconscious for a long time?
She heard Ian's loud cries, seemingly punching and kicking Victor: "It's your fault, all your fault. Why did you send Mom to the trench? If it weren't for you, Mom wouldn't be sick. You lied to me saying Mom didn't want me. You're always lying to me, I hate you so much."
Victor pressed his lips together in silence, allowing Ian to pull at his hair.
Finally, Shaman finished the examination, his expression grave. From his appearance, this living young life should not be in such a frail state. Except for the limbs, all other areas had solid pulses, especially the heart pulse which was in pain.
"Heart exhaustion."
As soon as these words were spoken, Victor immediately suspected Black Witch was behind it.
"What treatment does she need?"
Shaman pondered for a moment and wrote down several remedies that were not hidden in the sea. After handing the prescription to Victor, he thought for a moment longer: "The Young Ocean Sovereign has the divine power of the Heart of the Ocean within. If the Young Ocean Sovereign can stay by her side to care for her, it would surpass all treasures."
Shaman's words struck a chord with Ian. "I am willing, I am willing."
Ian was extremely eager and immediately tried to climb onto Xia Yangyang's arm.
Xia Yangyang was too exhausted; despite Shaman finding her a dolphin's heart, that heart clearly could not support her energy consumption as a human.
The noise gradually faded away, and she fell back into darkness once again.
For several days, she remained unconscious, but although her body could not move, her consciousness occasionally awakened.
A slightly warm hand slid down her waist. Xia Yangyang shivered; even in this state, he still... What kind of habit is this?
Her cheeks burned with fever, and the urge to wake up had never been so strong. Perhaps it was the healing effect of the Heart of the Ocean. As she strained to stretch her arm, she broke free from her restraints and grasped a solid wrist.
She slightly opened her eyes and saw Victor with disheveled hair, his head pressed against her heart.
"Why can't I hear your heartbeat? Xia Yangyang, where did you take it?"
That afternoon, the Black Witch's shop was smashed.
Victor stood on the ruins; he had not found Xia Yangyang's heart, nor had he found the Black Witch.
His shoulders slumped. There was no wind in the sea, yet sand blew into his eyes.
Xia Yangyang had never seen this unruly guy with red-rimmed eyes before.
"What exactly did you trade with her?" Victor's gaze was shattered; rather than an interrogation, it felt like he had grasped the last straw in the Dead Sea.
But Xia Yangyang could not say anything. She had always been ruthless and resolute in her actions; she didn't care, not even about her own life.
What does she care about? What is worth her giving away her heart?
Victor was puzzled, tears streaming down his cheeks, merging into the vast and boundless sea.
He often saw her cry, but he never knew her tears could be so bitter.
The frail Yangyang deliberately avoided answering: "Hug me, Victor."
She smiled at him, just like when they first met. Victor felt a lump in his throat as he held her tightly in his arms.
The journey back to the city was dull and long. Victor kissed her forehead: "When we get back, I'll have Ian keep you company."
"Don't call Ian. I just want you with me."
Victor remained silent for a long time, resting his chin on the top of her head, simply staying close to her.
Victor would not let any trace of the Black Witch slip by. He issued a bounty and conducted a thorough search of the entire sea area. Whenever there was any suspicious news, no matter how busy he was, he would personally follow up.
Unable to pry information from Xia Yangyang, he turned to others for answers.
