A knock on the door sounded immediately, and Zuo Yi propped himself up to stand. The living room was already filled with a faint smell of blood, which, although not overwhelming, still made one feel nauseous.
"Where's the head?" Captain Xing asked upon seeing Zuo Yi.
"There," Zuo Yi pointed casually toward the living room.
Captain Xing led his team into the living room. When they saw the head placed on the coffee table, they were all taken aback. The eyes of the head stared at them wide open, as if refusing to close even in death, with the eyeballs nearly bulging out.
"This Killer is so audacious, openly threatening and killing," Captain Xing said angrily as he looked at the gruesome head. He then instructed his subordinates, "Wrap up the head and take it back to the forensic expert."
"Captain Xing, we already know who the victim is. His name is Wang Fan, a first-year clinical medicine student and a key member of the student union's publicity department. He enjoys going online and is quite articulate; he gets along well with others," Chu Feifan said calmly. Although encountering such an incident was unbelievable, being a boy, he had a better psychological resilience.
Jiang Jie could only glance at the head before turning away in disgust. She took notes on Chu Feifan's words while occasionally looking at Su Jin'er, who was still sitting in the corner.
She kept wondering whom she had offended, but she couldn't think of anyone, which left her feeling quite discouraged.
Jiang Jie walked over and looked at her. "Are you scared?"
Su Jin'er nodded, a bitter smile flashing across her face as she replied, "I can't recall having offended anyone to this extent; I just can't remember."
Jiang Jie sat down beside her and said, "If you can't remember, then don't dwell on it. It might just be some pervert with a twisted mind acting this way. There are many people committing crimes due to psychological issues nowadays."
Su Jin'er nodded again. "But he's too twisted; he keeps killing to torment me. If we don't catch him soon, who knows how many more will die!"
"I understand how you feel. Knowing that someone is targeting you while innocent people around you are getting hurt is worse than dying yourself. Even if you don’t know some of them personally, they still died because of you."
A hint of sadness flashed in Jiang Jie's eyes, but it quickly returned to normal.
"By the way, do you think this case is related to Zhuo Xiaoman's death?" Jiang Jie suddenly asked.
"I don't know. I feel confused. It seems like two separate cases, but there seems to be some connection. However, I can't piece it together. It's puzzling."
At that moment, the officers had already wrapped up the head and were preparing to leave.

"A woman delivered it?" Captain Xing asked.
"Yes, the delivery guy was a young man. He said a woman asked him to bring it," Chu Feifan replied.
"That's strange! Don't food deliveries usually come from orders placed at a restaurant? Why would a delivery turn into a human head? Isn't that odd?" Captain Xing said with confusion.
"That's right! The delivery was done by the staff, so how did it turn into a human head?" Jiang Jie also said.
"The person delivering the food wasn't really a delivery person," Captain Xing said with a frown. "Do you all remember what he looked like?"
"Ah!"
The three of them were stunned because none of them could recall what the delivery person looked like; they only remembered that he was quite a young guy.
After a moment, Captain Xing said, "I think that delivery person might be the Killer. Even if he isn't the Killer, he could be an accomplice."
A chill ran through them as they realized they had let someone who could possibly be the Killer slip away right under their noses.
"Wang Fan is dead, his body was found in the woods, and his head appeared in this manner. As for his limbs, we don't know how they will show up in front of you, so you all need to be extra cautious lately. Prepare yourselves mentally so that when you see it again, you won't be scared."
Captain Xing looked at Su Jin'er and spoke, his face filled with worry. This must be the first time encountering such a case! He sighed and said, "Now that we know who the victim is, let's go to the school and ask his classmates who were closer to him about the situation!"
Captain Xing's voice was filled with helplessness; the Killer was so cunning that anyone would feel powerless.
"Is there no clue at the dumping site?"
Su Jin'er asked, actually more anxious than anyone else.
"No, the Killer is very smart. He chose to dump the body in the woods where there are so many leaves. Not only can he hide his footprints, but the smell of the leaves can also cover up the scent of blood, preventing other students from discovering it early and helping him execute his original plan."

The campus, shrouded in darkness, took on a layer of mysterious colors that made people feel scared yet unable to resist exploring. At this moment, a few people hurriedly entered through the school gate.
The newcomers were none other than Captain Xing, Jiang Jie, Su Jin'er, Chu Feifan, and Zuo Yi.
"Do you know which dormitory Wang Fan lives in?"
They all shook their heads.
Chu Feifan took out his phone and made a call to someone.
Chu Feifan returned with a pale face and said, "Wang Fan and Hao Hongtao are in the same dormitory."
"So that's their commonality?" Su Jin'er raised an eyebrow.

Su Jin'er remembered that when she last went to inquire about Hao Hongtao, she didn't see Wang Fan; she only met a classmate named Tian Qing who wore glasses. He seemed to be someone who loved reading and hardly left the dormitory.
The boys' dormitory buildings were numbered two, four, six, eight, ten, while the girls' were one, three, five, seven, nine. Hao Hongtao lived in Room 301 of Building Two. Captain Xing knocked on the door; someone inside said to wait a moment, and then footsteps could be heard approaching.
A boy with long hair styled in a messy bun peeked out and asked, "What are you doing?"
Then he caught sight of Su Jin'er and Jiang Jie standing behind and immediately closed the door. After that, a voice came from inside saying, “Tian Qing, put on your clothes; there are women outside.”
About two minutes later, the door opened again. The man was wearing glasses, his hair was tidier, and his clothes were neatly put on. He smiled at them and said, “Do you need something?”
“Zheng Kai? Do you live in this dormitory?” Zuo Yi asked him.
“Zuo Yi? Who are they?”
“Oh! They are from the Criminal Police Team and want to ask a few questions.”
Captain Xing took out his police badge for him to see, and he immediately nodded and bowed, letting them into the dormitory.
“Are you here to ask about Hao Hongtao? Actually, we don’t know much about him; he doesn’t stay in the dormitory often.”
Captain Xing didn’t respond but carefully looked around their dormitory. There were four beds, each made up with bedding, indicating that someone was living there. The room was messy, with unwashed socks on the floor. When Captain Xing’s gaze fell on the socks, Zheng Kai immediately shouted, “Tian Qing, pick up your stinky socks!”
At that moment, a head popped out from the bed furthest to the left. With messy hair and squinting eyes, he found his glasses and said, “They’re not mine; they belong to Wang Fan.”
Hearing Wang Fan’s name, Captain Xing asked, “How long has Wang Fan been gone?”
“Oh! You mean Wang Fan? That guy loves to go online, so he often stays out all night. Last night he said a classmate invited him to go online, so he wouldn’t be back. We’re used to it by now, so we didn’t think much of it. What’s wrong? Did something happen to him?”
“Oh! No. Do you know the name of the classmate who invited him to go online?”
“This… I don’t know. Tian Qing, do you know? Hey! Don’t sleep; do you really want to sleep that badly?” Zheng Kai pulled Tian Qing out from under the blanket.
"I haven't slept for a day and a night, so let me sleep! Can you answer their questions for me?" After saying this, he burrowed back under the covers to sleep.
"What has he been doing for a day and a night without sleeping?" Captain Xing asked.
"Oh, he just loves reading. He downloads horror stories every day and hides in bed to read them. He won't sleep or eat until he finishes. He downloaded another one yesterday, so he probably stayed up all last night and today to finish it. Now he's tired and just wants to sleep!"
Captain Xing frowned; no wonder he looked so thin and sickly.
"Think carefully about what that classmate's name is."
Zheng Kai tilted his head, thought for a long time, and finally scratched his head, saying, "I think it's something like 'Gang.' He lives in Room 303 of Building 4. I'm not very familiar with him."
Su Jin'er suddenly asked, "If you're not very familiar with him, how do you know his room number but not his name?"
