Qin Yu's body suddenly recoiled, and she began to cry while laughing.
"Why? Why? Why?" She repeated the word "why" three times, her tears smudging her makeup, but she didn't care.
"I like you. From the moment I first saw you, from the time you stepped onto the student council stage, I liked you. You are so outstanding that I couldn't bear to look directly at you; I could only watch from afar, waiting for the day I could become as excellent as you. But then, Su Jin'er appeared. She didn't have to do anything; she drove almost all the boys in the school crazy for her. Every smile and frown of hers tugged at so many hearts. Even now that she has killed someone, there are still so many people who feel sad for her. Why is this happening?"
"Because she could never have killed anyone," Chu Feifan said calmly. His heart had been in turmoil these past few days. For some reason, he felt a voice desperately trying to convince him that Su Jin'er was a murderer, and he had been battling with that voice every day. Now that voice had finally disappeared, and he felt much lighter inside.
"Haha, that's funny. She could never kill anyone. Are you all just going by your feelings?"
"Yes, it's a feeling!" A voice came from behind; Zuo Yi stood quietly behind her.
Qin Yu seemed to lose her spirit suddenly and looked despairingly at Chu Feifan, saying, "I understand now."
Qin Yu left in dejection.
"What on earth happened?" Zuo Yi asked slowly as he watched Qin Yu's retreating figure.
"I don't know. Ever since Jin'er got into trouble, there's been a voice in my head telling me that Su Jin'er is a murderer. It's been tormenting me. Although I didn't want to believe it, that voice kept talking, and I almost broke down."
No wonder his behavior had been so strange lately; he often hit his own head with his hands. It turned out to be this way, but this matter was a bit too bizarre.
"Why would this happen? Have you been controlled by someone?"
Zuo Yi's words jolted Chu Feifan awake. Could it be that someone was trying to control him into believing that Su Jin'er was a killer? Who could that person be? Who would have a reason to do this?
"Could it be..." Chu Feifan frowned and said.
"It’s Qin Yu!"
The two exclaimed simultaneously.
Qin Yu likes Chu Feifan, so if Chu Feifan no longer likes Su Jin'er, he might just like Qin Yu.
"In order to verify whether I am being controlled, I want to go find Lin Yajie and ask her."
As they reached the school gate, they saw Captain Xing's car pull up.
"Captain Xing, what brings you here?" Chu Feifan asked as he watched Captain Xing get out of the car.
"Jin'er said that the White-Clad Girl might be Lu Lili, so she sent me to check if she's still at the school."
"The White-Clad Girl is Lu Lili? No way! We thought she might be Qin Yu."
"Why do you say that?"
Chu Feifan then recounted everything that had happened over the past few days and his suspicions.
"That makes some sense, but Jin'er said that the girl's silhouette looks like Lu Lili's, and she might have already been harmed."
"Let's go take a look."
Since the dormitory manager had seen them multiple times, they simply informed her and went straight up to the fourth floor.
They knocked on the door of Room 402 for a long time but received no response.
“Lu Lili is not here, so the crazy Cheng Xiaoying should be around, right?” Chu Feifan said. Although he had taken her to see Lin Yajie last time, her mental state had not fully recovered, so she was definitely still in the dormitory.
“I'll go find the administrator,” Zuo Yi said as he ran downstairs. After a while, the administrator came up, twisting her plump body and mumbling something under her breath, appearing quite dissatisfied.
When they opened the dormitory door, they were shocked to find Cheng Xiaoying tied up, with a cloth stuffed in her mouth, and she was on the verge of losing consciousness.
Chu Feifan untied the ropes from Cheng Xiaoying's hands and removed the cloth from her mouth. Then he heard her seemingly trying to say something.
“What is she saying?”
“I don't know; I can't hear her clearly.” Chu Feifan leaned his ear close to her lips, listening carefully.
After a moment, he raised his head and said, “It seems like she’s saying something about green.”
“Green? What about it?” Zuo Yi asked in confusion.
“You guys take her to the hospital; I’ll go find Lu Lili.”
“But do you know where Lu Lili is?”
“I don’t know, but Jin'er said she might be at the Morgue.”
“Zuo Yi, you take her to the hospital. Captain Xing and I will go look for her.”
The three nodded and then went off to do their respective tasks.
Captain Xing and Chu Feifan returned to the forest area again. Since this was the crime scene, it had already been cordoned off with police tape. There were originally no people around, and now it was even quieter.
About a hundred meters away from the Morgue, there were still bloodstains left from that day on the ground. Although they had turned dark, seeing them still evoked a sense of horror, reminding them of Ruan Hongmei's mangled head and the pool of blood and white matter on the floor. They felt uneasy all over; what must Su Jin'er have felt at that moment?
Captain Xing opened the door to the Morgue, and the two stepped inside together.
It was pitch black inside, and as soon as they entered, a chilling sensation enveloped them. It felt eerie even during the day, let alone at night. Su Jin'er certainly had remarkable courage!
They walked up to the heavy iron door and opened it. The coldness intensified inside, with white mist slowly drifting through the air, as if they had entered the underworld.
"I really don't know how Jin'er could be so brave," Chu Feifan said while rubbing his arms.
"She is just that bold; otherwise, how could I have believed her and actually come here to look for someone?"
Captain Xing scanned the room but found no clues.
"This place is so terrifying that even guys would feel scared; what are the chances a girl would be here?"
"It's hard for the living to stay here, but it's different for the dead."
"Are you saying Lu Lili has already been killed?"
"Very likely!"
The two exchanged glances and then focused their attention on the cold storage cabinets; this was the best place to hide a body.
There were three body storage cabinets in the Morgue, one of which had nine compartments, totaling twenty-seven compartments altogether.
"Let's split up and search."
Sure enough, not long after, the two found the body of Lu Lili in the bottom compartment of the cabinet in the middle.
Another person was dead!
This made the students at the school even more terrified. Everyone was spreading rumors that it was the ghost of Zhuo Xiaoman coming back for revenge. For a time, fear gripped the school, and everyone felt insecure.
Since Lu Lili's body had already been frozen, determining the time of death was not easy; they would have to wait for the dissection to find out.
"By the way, where is Hao Hongtao?" Chu Feifan and Captain Xing were sitting in Captain Xing's office.
"He's still locked up. He admitted to having raped Zhuo Xiaoman, so he has been detained on charges of rape."
"What about his breakdown last time? How do you explain that?"
"Oh! I almost forgot about that. It was that handkerchief; it contained a substance that could induce hallucinations, and he had it on him all along, which caused him to hallucinate."
"So how is he doing now?"
"Let's go take a look!"
The two went to the interrogation room, where Hao Hongtao had already been brought in. In just a few days, he had lost a significant amount of weight, his face covered in stubble, looking very unkempt as he sat in the chair.
"Can I get a cigarette?"
Captain Xing took a cigarette from his pocket and tossed it to him. At the sight of the cigarette, a glimmer of excitement flashed in his eyes.
Captain Xing lit his cigarette. After taking a deep drag, he leaned back in his chair and said, "If you have any questions about the drugs, just ask! I'll tell you everything I know."
"Do you know Cheng Xiaoying?"
"Yes, I know her. She's a silly girl from my high school."
"What do you mean?"
"Actually, I know she has always liked me, and she chose this university because I did. The reason I call her silly is that she clearly knows I like Qin Yu, yet she still followed me here. Don't you think that's foolish?"
After saying this, he let out a bitter laugh.
"Do you know that she's gone crazy now?"
Hao Hongtao showed a surprised expression, then quickly returned to his original demeanor and said weakly, "I knew it would come to this."
"What do you mean? Be clearer."
"She was already very timid, and her relationship with Zhuo Man was never good. With Zhuo Man dead, it's normal for her to be scared and go crazy."
"She was driven mad by Zhuo Xiaoman's ghost."

"Who else?"
"Qin Yu and Lu Lili! I thought you all knew!" He laughed sarcastically.
"Lu Lili is already dead."
"She was meant to die."
Chu Feifan frowned, "What exactly is your relationship?"
"What relationship? It's a complicated one. I think you don't need to investigate this case anymore; it must be Zhuo Man's ghost coming back for revenge. She won't let any of us go."
"Nonsense, there are no ghosts that kill people in this world. Just tell us the truth," Captain Xing said loudly.
Hao Hongtao shifted to a more comfortable position, then forcefully finished the last bit of his cigarette before tossing it into the ashtray on the table. He sighed deeply and said, "You know, I, Qin Yu, and Cheng Xiaoying were high school classmates. You know our relationship; it's a Love Triangle. Lu Lili, Wang Xiangxiang, and Zhuo Xiaoman were roommates with Cheng Xiaoying. They used to have a good relationship, but because of me, their relationship fell apart." He smiled proudly at them as he spoke.
"Go on."
"That silly girl Xiaoying always believed that I would eventually like her, so she kept waiting. She knew that Qin Yu didn't like me, so she was very confident. In the end, I didn't end up with Qin Yu or with her; instead, I got together with Zhuo Man. When she found out, she was furious because everyone in their dorm knew she liked me. But Zhuo Xiaoman actually ended up with me, so of course she was angry and had a fight with Zhuo Man."
