After saying that, she left without even looking at the two of them. Ruan Hongmei followed closely behind her like a child who had done something wrong. After walking a distance, she turned back to see that the two had not followed and slowed her pace, waiting for Ruan Hongmei to catch up.

Ruan Hongmei nodded.
They slowly walked toward their dormitory. Just as they reached the door, a group of girls suddenly rushed out of the dormitory, each with expressions of either fear or surprise as they ran outside. The girl finished speaking, broke free from Ruan Hongmei's hand, and ran outside.

Su Jin'er was about to go upstairs when Ruan Hongmei grabbed her: "Let's go take a look!"
She had an excited expression on her face, completely forgetting her earlier displeasure.
Su Jin'er initially didn’t want to go, but she was forcibly pulled to the construction site.

Captain Xing was already there, standing next to familiar faces—Chu Feifan and Zuo Yi. Not far from them stood Zhuang Lingtian.
On the ground lay something covered with a white cloth; it looked like a corpse. Captain Xing was talking to someone who seemed to be the foreman.
Zhuang Lingtian saw Su Jin'er and Ruan Hongmei and happily ran over to stand beside her, sharing what he knew about the situation.
It turned out that right after Su Jin'er and Ruan Hongmei left, they encountered many students running toward the construction site, so they followed along. Upon arriving, they just happened to see the remains being brought up from underground. Captain Xing soon arrived and was inquiring about the bones.

Su Jin'er felt a bit bewildered by Captain Xing's question. She wasn’t a police officer or a detective and certainly didn’t know how to judge a case. Why was he asking her? She looked at Captain Xing in confusion.
"I don’t know anything about the situation, so I don’t know how to answer you."
Su Jin'er let out a bitter laugh.
"Oh! I'm sorry, but I would like you to come with me to the station. I think you might know something about this skeleton."
Although Su Jin'er felt it was strange, she nodded in agreement.
Entering the police station is not necessarily a good thing. Although she had not committed any crime, anyone walking into a police station would feel a sense of oppression and gloom. This is not because one has a guilty conscience, but rather it is intentionally designed this way, as it puts pressure on suspects and makes it easier for them to confess their crimes. Su Jin'er and her companions were not new to this place.
Sitting in Captain Xing's office, no one spoke, and the atmosphere felt awkward. What puzzled them was that Zhuang Lingtian was allowed to come in as well.
Su Jin'er sat in a chair near the desk and casually picked up a book titled Impurities from the desk to read, while the others could only sit there in silence. Chu Feifan had been fiddling with his phone since they entered, seemingly texting someone, constantly tapping away.
He was probably texting Qin Yu!
After a while, Captain Xing entered.
"Sorry to keep you all waiting."
"It's fine. Has the Autopsy Report come out?" Su Jin'er asked.
"Yes, the deceased is female and likely died about four or five years ago."
Four or five years?
This immediately made Su Jin'er think of Xiao Mei. At that time, there were reports stating that Xiao Mei was raped and murdered when the school was newly established. However, later she found out that Xiao Mei was brutally killed by Akasaka five years ago, and nearly all the teachers at the school were involved in the case. Although it was confirmed that Xiao Mei had died, her body had never been found.
"Can we determine the age of the deceased?"
"About twenty years old, and her ribs and the bones in her left leg are broken."
Captain Xing's words made Su Jin'er feel like she was the police officer, while he was just a newcomer to the precinct, which puzzled her.
Seeing that Su Jin'er did not respond, he continued, "I think you should already have an idea of who the deceased might be, right?"
"Yes, but it's still just a guess; I can't be sure," Su Jin'er replied honestly.
"You told me before that you dreamed she wanted you to help find her body, or else she would make the people at school accompany her in death. Now I think you can rest easy, right?"
Su Jin'er looked at Captain Xing in surprise. It turned out that he hadn't brought her here to ask for her opinion on the bones; he just wanted to inform her that Xiao Mei's body had been found, and she no longer needed to worry about it. She looked at Captain Xing with gratitude.
"However, I still can't be certain until the forensic team restores her facial features. There's nothing more to do now; you all can go back!"
"Come on, are you kidding? I thought we would get to participate in the Murder Case investigation!" Zhuang Lingtian said unhappily.
Just as they were about to leave, Captain Xing suddenly said, "Feifan, wait a moment!"
Everyone except Chu Feifan left. After they exited the precinct, Zuo Yi told them to head back to school first while he waited for Chu Feifan. Although Su Jin'er found it strange, her relationship with Chu Feifan was awkward at the moment, so she didn't ask any questions and left with Zhuang Lingtian and Ruan Hongmei.
In Captain Xing's office.
Captain Xing cleared his throat and said, "Although your relationship with Jin'er is a personal matter, I can't shake the feeling that something is off. Are you hiding something?"
Chu Feifan looked at Captain Xing in shock and then lowered his head without saying a word.
"I know you must have some unspoken reasons, but I believe it's all for the best for Jin'er, right? Regardless, it's better to talk about it. Hehe, don't think I'm being naggy! I really have high hopes for you two!"
Captain Xing actually looked a bit shy like a child.
Chu Feifan thought for a moment and said, "Actually, the first reason is because of Qin Yu, and the second is that I feel the situation with Zhuo Xiaoman's suicide isn't that simple. I don't want Jin'er to get involved again; losing Linyuan has really caused her a lot of pain, and she's just been pretending all along."
"You understand her well?"
"I just know that she's actually very fragile and not as strong as she appears. I can even imagine her crying every night in bed thinking about Linyuan. She's truly a girl who deserves sympathy."
Captain Xing remained silent. Although he hadn't known Su Jin'er for long, he could see that.
