The next day was Monday. Because Captain Xing was investigating a case, Su Jin'er was eager to find out what that thing was, but Ruan Hongmei insisted on taking her to class instead. Ruan argued that they had missed many classes before and needed to make up for them, so Su Jin'er didn't say anything in response.
Although Ruan Hongmei didn't want her to go to the classroom either, she couldn't find a reason to keep her in the dorm. Almost every student knew about the Suicide Girl incident from yesterday, and she was afraid Jin'er might hear about it.
On the way to the classroom, Ruan Hongmei carefully helped her avoid other students. Whenever she heard students discussing something, she would come up with various excuses to steer clear.
Su Jin'er looked at her curiously and asked, "Why are you trying to avoid our classmates?"

Su Jin'er knew she was definitely hiding something from her. From the looks of it, it seemed like the other students were aware of it while she was not. Suddenly, she recalled the piercing scream they had heard yesterday afternoon. Could it be that this was what Ruan was trying to keep from her?
She quickened her pace and caught up with Ruan Hongmei, grabbing her arm and asking, "Do you know anything about that scream we heard yesterday afternoon?"
Ruan Hongmei looked up in surprise. "You—remembered?"
"What happened?"
Ruan Hongmei said casually, "Actually, it's nothing much. A girl committed suicide yesterday afternoon because of a breakup, and that scream you heard was hers."
Su Jin'er frowned, "Does suicide really make such a terrible scream? That seems a bit hard to believe!"
"Maybe it was because at the moment she jumped, she regretted it, but it was too late, so she screamed!" She seemed to think her reasoning was good and nodded heavily after finishing.

"What’s your name?" Captain Xing asked the boy in front of him.
The boy was thin, had slightly dark skin, small eyes, a flat nose, but his mouth was quite nice with rosy lips that were just the right thickness.
"Hao Hongtao!"
"Why did you break up with your girlfriend?"
"Of course I didn't like her anymore. If I didn't like her, why would I stay together?"
Hao Hongtao remained calm, showing no signs of fear despite sitting across from a police officer.
"Your girlfriend is dead. Aren't you sad at all?" Captain Xing asked, even though he knew this question was unnecessary. He wanted to see just how composed the young man could remain.
The boy's body trembled slightly before he suddenly laughed. "Not sad? How could I not be? After all, I once loved her."
"Where were you when she committed suicide? What were you doing?"
"I was accompanying another girl at the Singing Competition. Many classmates can verify that," he replied candidly.
"What was that girl's name?"
The boy looked up and said, "That girl has nothing to do with this!"
His emotions suddenly became agitated.
Captain Xing looked at him curiously; it seemed unnecessary to be so worked up over just a name.
After asking a few more questions and confirming that he indeed had an alibi, they had no choice but to let him go.
Could this case really just be an ordinary breakup suicide?
But how can that tragic scream be explained?

When they chased outside, Hao Hongtao had already vanished. They couldn't find him in the dormitory, so they had no choice but to look for that girl first.
"Do you know about Zhuo Xiaoman's pregnancy?"
"What? Are you saying Zhuo Man is pregnant?" The girl's face turned pale upon hearing about the pregnancy.
"Yes!"
"My God! Does she really believe that?"
The girl's words immediately caught their attention.
"Believe what?"
"Zhuo Man is someone who loves telling stories, and her favorite ones are ghost stories. The one that left the deepest impression on us was about a female student."
Then she recounted the story.
It was about a beautiful girl from the countryside at a university, pursued by many suitors. She accepted one boy who wasn't very handsome but treated her well. Coming from a conservative background, she eventually succumbed to her boyfriend's pleas and gave herself to him. However, afterward, she discovered she was pregnant. When she told her boyfriend, he angrily demanded that she abort the child, but she refused. Eventually, the school found out and expelled her. Her boyfriend never appeared to take responsibility, so the girl had to return to her rural hometown. The people there were even more conservative; being unmarried and pregnant was seen as disgraceful. Her family had no choice but to kick her out. With nowhere else to go, she sought out her boyfriend again, only to find he had another beautiful girl by his side.
In that moment, the girl felt despair. She ran up to the dormitory building and jumped off from above, her body shattered upon impact, leaving a gruesome scene below.
Her eyes were wide open, refusing to close, filled with resentment as she left this world. The girl's boyfriend was terrified and sought the help of a sorcerer to perform a ritual. The sorcerer discovered that the girl was tightly clutching a strand of hair, which was ultimately confirmed to belong to her boyfriend. The sorcerer warned the boy that the girl still harbored resentment towards him, and her anger was significant enough that she might return to seek revenge, advising him to be cautious. The boy was frightened and earnestly asked the sorcerer for help to get through this ordeal. After some thought, the sorcerer instructed him to hide under the bed on the night of the girl's Seventh Day, no matter what sounds he heard.
Later, on that night, the boy hid under the bed, closing his eyes in fear of looking outside. When it reached midnight, he heard a "thud thud" sound coming from outside. He nervously kept his eyes shut and clearly heard the sound approaching the door, then it opened and slowly moved closer to the bed. He then heard laughter—sweet and innocent laughter—continuing with "I found you, hee hee, I found you."
The boy didn't believe she could find him; he thought she was luring him out. So he opened his eyes and saw a pale face—the face of the girl.
The next day, people found the boy dead under the bed, his face frozen in terror; he had died from fright.
After hearing this story, Captain Xing and Chu Feifan both gasped in shock. Did the girl who committed suicide yesterday have to repeat this story?
It was just a scary story meant for children; how could it be taken seriously?
But someone had already died. What good would it do to know?
"I think Hao Hongtao must know about her pregnancy," Captain Xing said after the girl left.
"I don't think he knows this story; we need to tell him."
"Are you suggesting we instill fear in him?"
"Yes, people are more likely to speak the truth when they are afraid."
"I understand that, but do you really think Zhuo Xiaoman wasn't a suicide but was killed by Hao Hongtao?"
"I don't know, but Hao Hongtao must know something."
"Yeah, I just don't know where that guy has run off to now."
At this moment, Su Jin'er and Ruan Hongmei appeared at the door of the Student Council Office.
"Are you still investigating?" Su Jin'er asked with a smile.
Chu Feifan looked at Ruan Hongmei with a questioning gaze, and Ruan Hongmei shrugged, indicating that Jin'er already knew.
