Su Jin'er did not voice her thoughts. Once her eyes adjusted to the light, she carefully examined the girl in front of her. The girl's hair, dyed yellow, flowed smoothly down her back. She had thick eyebrows and large, sparkling eyes. Her nose was not very prominent, a bit small, and her lips were beautifully shaped. However, the only flaw was that her skin seemed to be in poor condition, feeling a bit dry, with small spots on either side of her nose. Overall, she was still a very pretty girl.

The girl slapped her forehead and exclaimed loudly, "I'm so silly! My name is Hongmei, Ruan Hongmei." Her expression immediately turned dejected. "Isn't it a very common name? I really don't understand why my mom gave me such a name. Your name sounds so nice! Jin'er, Jin'er—it just sounds pleasant."
"Not at all! I think it sounds like an ancient maid's name," Su Jin'er joked to herself, thinking how expressive this girl was.
The girl burst into laughter and looked at Su Jin'er in surprise. "You're different from what they described. Besides being beautiful, I think you're really cute."
After saying that, she playfully pinched Su Jin'er's cheek.
This action left Su Jin'er completely stunned. It reminded her of Linyuan; she recalled their first meeting when Linyuan had pinched her cheek with her small chubby hand. At that time, Linyuan had pinched too hard, causing Su Jin'er to cry, and since then she had never been able to forget that strong-handed girl.
Seeing Su Jin'er's eyes slowly redden, the girl nervously said, "I'm sorry! Did I pinch you too hard? I'm really sorry."
Su Jin'er came back to her senses and wiped away the tears from her cheeks. She smiled shyly and said, "No, it's just that your action reminded me of a friend."
"Is it Linyuan?"
Su Jin'er looked at her; this girl must be something special. From the moment she started speaking until now, she acted as if she were very familiar with Su Jin'er and kept mentioning "them." Even Linyuan was known to her, which made Su Jin'er feel anxious.

I became curious and decided to transfer here to study and successfully moved into your dorm."

Ruan Hongmei sat down and said, "No one dares to say they aren't afraid of demons; some just hide it. I'm no exception. I'm not unafraid; I'm very afraid, but I'm also curious. Besides, if a beautiful girl like you isn't scared, why should I back down?"

When Su Jin'er was young, she had heard her grandmother talk about Ghost Catching. However, she had never seen it herself. Although she had listened to many stories about it, she never took them seriously. Now, hearing a girl around her age claim to know about Ghost Catching made her somewhat skeptical.
"I know you don't believe me, but I don't care. Although I've heard about the incidents in your dormitory, I think it's not ghosts killing people; rather, someone is using this to cover up their own actions."
Su Jin'er nodded; she thought the same way. In her opinion, some people's hearts could be scarier than ghosts.
"You didn't move in here just out of curiosity, did you?"
"No. Actually, I'm more curious about ghosts than about the Murder Case. I transferred to this school for another reason, and I moved into this dormitory because of you."
"Because of me?" Su Jin'er pointed at herself, surprised to hear someone would move into a dormitory where three people had died.
"Yes! They all said you're very beautiful, so I wanted to see for myself."
"Aren't you afraid of dying? You know that students at school either see me as a Killer or a female ghost. Aren't you scared?"
"Everyone fears death; it's just that some can accept it while others cannot. I'm one of those who can accept it."
After saying that, she picked up her phone that was beside the pillow and exclaimed in surprise, "Wow! It's already 11:45. We should go to sleep quickly! Ruan Hongmei had already lain down on her bed. She seemed to firmly believe in her own statement. However, Su Jin'er didn't care; she had slept too much in the afternoon and felt no desire to sleep now. She turned off the light, lay on her bed, and stared at the dark ceiling. Many fragmented images began to appear before her eyes, but each image was incomplete. She tried hard to piece them together but found that each one was missing a crucial part. This missing piece distorted and made the entire image strange. Strangely enough, she felt that her attempts to connect the images were correct, yet she couldn't see their content clearly.
Each fragment felt like a piece of her fragmented memory, but she couldn't recall what those memories were like. Her temples throbbed, and her mind was chaotic, resembling a field trampled upon—disorderly and messy.
It seemed that the wind had picked up outside; the leaves rustled continuously, making the already quiet night feel even more silent. The moon had also hidden behind clouds at some point, leaving everything around her pitch black. Although Su Jin'er kept her eyes wide open, she could see nothing as if she had suddenly gone blind. This thought filled her with fear. She wanted to wake Ruan Hongmei to talk with her but felt it would be inappropriate; if she couldn't sleep, she shouldn't disturb someone else’s rest. So she dismissed that idea and soon heard Ruan Hongmei's steady breathing beside her.
Her heartbeat suddenly quickened, and her body felt heavy as if something very weighty was pressing down on her. Breathing became difficult; she struggled to make her chest rise and fall but found it only grew heavier as if hands were pressing down forcefully.
What’s happening?
An inexplicable panic made her eyes widen in terror, yet everything remained pitch black before her. She tried to move her body but realized even her fingers wouldn’t budge.
Sleep paralysis?
She suddenly recalled seeing something about sleep paralysis on television before, causing a wave of anxiety within her. She opened her mouth but found it felt glued shut; she desperately widened her eyes but still saw nothing.
Help!
She shouted in her heart!
She hoped that Ruan Hongmei could wake up and realize her situation; as long as she called out to her, she would be saved. However, her hopes were dashed, and all she could hear was Ruan Hongmei's steady and powerful breathing.
Su Jin'er looked at the dark world before her with a sense of despair. She knew she wouldn't die, but that heavy feeling was worse than death.
She wanted to close her eyes but found that even this simple action was impossible. Fortunately, she could still breathe and think, she comforted herself.
Clearing her mind, she tried to calm her heart, not thinking of anything, just focusing on pressing her fingers into the bed. If she could complete this action, she would be free.
Her fingers curled tightly.
With a sudden gasp, she sat up and began to breathe heavily. She was relieved to have made it through. Touching her forehead, she found it covered in sweat; her pajamas clung uncomfortably to her skin. She got out of bed and walked to the bathroom.
Turning on the light, she squinted at the mirror, seeing her disheveled appearance. This was the first time in her life she had encountered such a thing. Her heart was still racing. She turned on the faucet and splashed cool water on her face, feeling much clearer in her mind. Looking at her pale face in the mirror, she smiled helplessly and thought about what had just happened, finding it strange how such an incident could occur suddenly. She had heard of sleep paralysis before but had never believed it—now she had experienced it herself.
