Su Jin'er remained nestled in Chu Feifan's embrace, her expression calm, yet her heart was tumultuous. She was uncertain whether this case was related to Chu Feifan's father. If it were true, could they still be together? She knew she couldn't let him bear the sins of his father, but his father was still the indirect killer of Linyuan. 0

She silently prayed that this matter was not caused by his father. 0

Chu Feifan was also contemplating the situation. He understood that if his father were involved, it would mean he and Su Jin'er were not meant to be. In truth, he felt immense pain; all he remembered was fainting in that villa, and everything afterward was a blur. He blamed himself for being useless and unable to help. He glanced at Zuo Yi, who was quietly staring out the window. Although he couldn't see Zuo Yi's expression, he knew how much pain lay within him. 0

This is the second one, right? 0

Chu Feifan sighed. 0

Captain Xing occasionally glanced at the expressions of the three of them in the rearview mirror. He understood their sorrow and could guess their thoughts, but all he could do was watch helplessly, shaking his head before focusing seriously on driving. 0

The Chu family villa was located in a forest not far from the city center. It was said that they had purchased the land, and all the trees were planted by their family. There were no other residents nearby, just their villa, which had three stories; from a distance, only the third floor could be seen. 0

"Is that your family's villa?" Su Jin'er asked, pointing at the villa. 0

"Yes, that's right. The entire area belongs to my family, and we planted all those trees. We're the only ones around," Chu Feifan replied with a smile, though there was an indescribable desolation in his eyes. 0

"Don't you feel scared at night?" 0

"When I was young, yes; but not anymore as I grew up," Chu Feifan said shyly. 0

"That's right! When we were kids, he was very timid and wouldn't dare sleep alone at night, so I often stayed over at his house," Zuo Yi said with a laugh. 0

It had been a while since they heard Zuo Yi speak; they were surprised by his sudden voice and turned to look at him. Although he smiled, they could clearly sense that his smile was no longer as radiant as it once had been. 0

Feeling a sudden heaviness in her eyes, Su Jin'er turned her face away as the car slowly came to a stop. They opened the doors and stepped out. 0

Su Jin'er took a deep breath, stretched her arms wide, and tilted her head back as she said, "No wonder you want to live here! Compared to the polluted air in the city, this place is really refreshing!" 0

"Do you like it here?" 0

"Yeah! There's no noise from the city, and no one with a stench of copper hanging around. It feels really good." Su Jin'er didn't hide her smile; she hadn't laughed this happily in a long time. 0

Chu Feifan looked at her happily, thinking that bringing her home was the right decision. If he had known what would happen next, he certainly wouldn't have felt that way. 0

"Although the roads here aren't as good as in the city, and it gets muddy when it rains, the air is really nice," Zuo Yi said, kicking a stone on the ground. 0

"Are you sure your dad isn't home today?" Captain Xing asked. 0

"Yeah, he won't be home. How could he possibly miss this time to meet his mistress?" Chu Feifan sneered. 0

"Then let's go!" Captain Xing was the first to walk ahead. 0

They walked along the cobblestone path toward Chu Feifan's villa. He didn't often stay at home because he couldn't stand his father bringing his mistresses back. Because of this, his father stopped bringing women home and instead went out to meet them every weekend, which was why he dared to bring them back. 0

"Young Master?" 0

The maid who came to open the door looked surprised at Chu Feifan. 0

"Weren't you sleeping in your room? When did you come out?" 0

"When you weren't paying attention." 0

Chu Feifan replied coldly, then stared at the maid and said, "If you dare tell my father that I'm back today, you can pack your things and go back home." 0

After saying that, he pulled Su Jin'er inside the villa without looking back. Zuo Yi and Captain Xing followed behind. The maid bowed to Zuo Yi respectfully and called out "Young Master Zuo," not daring to lift her head. She knew that Chu Feifan's temperament was just like his father's; he always meant what he said. But could she really choose to remain silent? 0

Upon entering the foyer, Chu Feifan instructed the servants to bring two pairs of slippers. Zuo Yi, being a frequent visitor, had his shoes always left on the shoe rack. He skillfully changed into the slippers and walked into the living room with his hands in his pockets, followed by Su Jin'er and Captain Xing. 0

They were astonished as they looked around Chu Feifan's living room. Su Jin'er had imagined what his home might be like; she knew his family was wealthy, but she never expected it to be to this extent. 0

The entire living room was predominantly white, not overly extravagant, and could even be described as quite simple. However, she understood that every piece of furniture in this house would exceed her expectations in price. Just the intricately carved patterns on the spiral staircase in the center of the living room indicated its high cost. Not to mention the set of off-white sofas placed next to the floor-to-ceiling windows. The living room was not cluttered; it contained only a sofa set, a coffee table, and a media wall. Surrounding the walls were some landscape paintings, but one painting caught Su Jin'er's attention. It was an abstract piece dominated by red, resembling splattered blood with drops dripping down. 0

"Surprised?" Zuo Yi said with a half-smile. 0

Su Jin'er awkwardly smiled back. 0

The maid who had opened the door looked stiffly at Su Jin'er and asked, "What would you like to drink?" 0

"Just water is fine!" Su Jin'er replied with a smile. She felt that Chu Feifan's earlier attitude towards her was somewhat excessive, so she smiled at the maid, who returned her a stiff smile. 0

"I'll have the same," Captain Xing said. As the captain of the criminal police team, he smiled at the maid like an elder would, showing no surprise at the luxury of Chu Family Villa. This composure impressed Su Jin'er, who had always prided herself on being calm. 0
