"What's wrong? Is something the matter?" Chu Feifan asked as he looked at the dazed Su Jin'er. 0

"I just find it strange; it feels like these two pairs of shoes were prepared specifically for us," she said, frowning as she pointed at the two pairs of slippers on the shoe rack. 0

Chu Feifan furrowed his brow as well. "Maybe the owners of this villa are just a man and a woman! Don't overthink it; we're not filming a movie." 0

She thought there was some truth to Chu Feifan's words. Although she still felt something was off, she couldn't quite put her finger on it and decided to temporarily accept that the owners were indeed just a man and a woman. 0

In the living room, the most striking feature was the set of milky white leather sofas. It was noticeable because it was the only set of leather furniture in the large living room, accompanied by an ordinary-looking glass coffee table. 0

"What a strange combination," Su Jin'er said as she touched the sofa, finding no dust on her fingers. "It's so clean, a stark contrast to the messy garden outside." 0

"It looks like someone lives here, but the furniture is too simple. By the way, where is that person?" 0

Only then did Chu Feifan remember that the person who brought them here had yet to appear. They had been so captivated by the strange sights that they completely forgot about their guide. 0

"There are so many rooms here; let's split up and see if there are any other exits," Su Jin'er suggested, glancing at the rooms on the second and third floors above them. 0

"No way! What if he slips away while we're looking for him?" After thinking for a moment, he said, "How about this? You go upstairs and check each room from the doorway so I can see you from here." 0

Su Jin'er tilted her head, considering this plan, and nodded. She then ascended the stairs on the right side. Standing on the second floor, she looked down at Chu Feifan, who nodded to indicate he could see her. However, when she stood at the doorway of a room, he could only see the top of her head. 0

Su Jin'er stood in front of the first room, where a rusted nameplate hung on the door with illegible writing. She shrugged and pushed open the door to reveal a room of about twenty square meters—empty and bare, with only discolored curtains fluttering in the wind. 0

She shook her head and closed the door before signaling to Chu Feifan downstairs that there was nothing inside. They both remained silent; the entire house felt eerily quiet. Even they didn't understand why they were reluctant to speak, as if talking would awaken some monster sleeping within these walls. The atmosphere was stiflingly oppressive. 0

She opened the second room, which was identical to the first but lacked curtains, making it feel even emptier. Thus, she explored all of the second floor rooms—each one empty and similar. Each door bore a nameplate with indistinct writing; some rooms had curtains while others did not. This oddity made them feel uneasy—no longer just strange but bizarre enough for Su Jin'er to question if everything was real. 0

Standing at the top of the stairs on the second floor, she pointed to the third floor to inform Chu Feifan that she was going up. Chu Feifan was worried about her going alone; from his position on the second floor, he could barely see anything on the third floor at all. 0

"Let's go up together," Chu Feifan said after a moment of thought. 0

His voice was not loud, but for some reason, as soon as he finished speaking, they felt a chill in the air. Outside, the sun was shining brightly, making it impossible for such a cold wind to exist. Su Jin'er hugged her shoulders and looked around warily. Chu Feifan felt it too; he quickly ran up to the second floor, and then they both walked up the stairs leading to the third floor. Each step felt like they were treading on a bomb that could explode at any moment, every movement heavy, even their breathing became tense. 0

What was hidden on the third floor? 0

Finally, they reached the last step, but their legs trembled uncontrollably. 0

Taking a deep breath, they stepped onto the third floor together. 0

However. 0

Nothing happened. 0

They exhaled and then laughed together, wondering when they had become so timid. Although they seemed indifferent on the surface, deep down, they were still scared; it was just that no one showed it. 0

They approached the first room. The door had no rusty nameplate or illegible writing. He reached out and pushed the door open. Inside was not empty; it could be described as a very beautiful room—at least for a girl who liked pink. There was a pink bed, pink curtains, pink dolls—everything was pink. Even the flowers blooming on the windowsill were pink. The entire room was as clean as the hall on the first floor. 0

"This should be a girl's room," Chu Feifan said. 0

"Not necessarily! Look over there!" Su Jin'er stepped into the room and pointed at the only photo on the bedside table. It was clearly a picture of a boy, but his face had been scratched out, so they couldn't tell who he was. 0

"How strange; would a boy really like pink?" Chu Feifan picked up the photo and looked at the boy in casual clothes. For some reason, she suddenly thought that this boy must have been very handsome. 0

"Maybe this is a girl's room, and this photo belongs to her boyfriend." 0

"Then who comes here often to clean?" 0

Su Jin'er shrugged and took the photo from Chu Feifan's hand, placing it back on the bedside table. "Perhaps we just stumbled into a strange villa, and the person who led us here has never even been to this place." 0

Chu Feifan looked at her strangely; the occurrence of all these events was indeed baffling. 0

"Anyway, since we are here, let's check all the rooms. Perhaps we will find something," Chu Feifan said, pointing to the other rooms. 0

Su Jin'er nodded. 0

The second room was empty, with nothing inside. Even the walls were covered in dust, and cobwebs filled the corners. Su Jin'er looked around in surprise, her brows tightly furrowed; the contrast was simply too great. 0

"Are we dreaming?" Chu Feifan asked, touching the wall, his fingertips covered in dust. 0

"Uh! This is a strange villa. Could it be that the person living here only cleans their own room and ignores the others?" Su Jin'er leaned against the door. 0

"Perhaps that's all we can think of. Maybe only one person lives here, and because the rooms are too big to clean entirely, they only tidy up their own room and the living room downstairs." 0

"Alright! Then let's keep this thought in mind as we finish checking the remaining rooms and then leave," Chu Feifan said, crossing his arms. 0

"Why do we have to check them all?" 0

"Curiosity!" 0

Su Jin'er looked at Chu Feifan's departing figure with confusion, suddenly feeling that he was far away from her—so far that she couldn't reach him or even see him clearly. There was also a strange sense of unfamiliarity. 0

She shook her head; Chu Feifan's figure was still within reach. He stood smiling at her in front of the third room's door. She smiled back at him, unaware of how forced her smile was at that moment, but Chu Feifan didn't seem to mind at all. 0

The third room was just as empty as the one below. Chu Feifan shook his head in disappointment, having found nothing new; he seemed quite let down. 0

Su Jin'er watched him, feeling an increasing sense of strangeness. Yet, she couldn't understand why she felt Chu Feifan was unfamiliar to her. 0

She remained standing there in a daze, watching Chu Feifan open all the doors and then shake his head in disappointment before closing them again until he returned to stand in front of her once more. 0

"There's nothing in the other rooms. It seems we really have just barged into an ordinary family's house," Chu Feifan said with a somewhat cynical smile, quite different from his usual demeanor. 0

Su Jin'er frowned but didn't elaborate; she simply shrugged and said, "Maybe that's the case. Let's go!" 0

As Su Jin'er went downstairs, she felt no longer afraid, only filled with confusion about Chu Feifan's doubts and speculations. 0

"No, there's still one place we haven't checked," Chu Feifan continued to smile, still with that cynical air. 0

"What place?" 0

"The kitchen and the bathroom." 0

She remained silent, following him downstairs, waiting for him to lead her to the kitchen and bathroom. He suddenly seemed very familiar with the place and accurately found the kitchen. It was covered in dust, and even the overall color of the cabinets was unrecognizable. 0

Su Jin'er stood in a corner of the living room where she could see everything in the kitchen, but she didn't pay attention to it; she was focused on watching Chu Feifan's every move. 0
