Su Jin'er rolled up her pant legs and looked at her injured knee. Due to the bleeding, her pants were stuck to the wound, causing her to gasp in pain. Fortunately, it was just a flesh wound. She gently wiped away the blood and lowered her pant legs again. Leaning against the wall behind her, she slightly closed her eyes, savoring the coolness that came from her back. In the dim light, the surrounding silence was eerily profound; only this could prove that she was still alive and capable of feeling everything in the world.
She sighed softly and began to reflect on everything that had happened recently. Although Li Yiqian had admitted to being the one who killed Li Yiqing and Li Ran, and she knew she had been used by someone, she still couldn't understand what kind of hatred could drive a person to kill their own family.
Could that person have been the one who deceived Li Yiqian? Was he male or female? What kind of grudge did he have against Chu Feifan? She remembered him saying he wanted to torment Chu Feifan and make him watch his friends suffer.
Oh my! What kind of person had he offended?
A demon?
Right, Li Yiqian knew they were here. Would he call the police after realizing they hadn’t returned? Would he come looking for them?
Suddenly, she placed her hope in Li Yiqian.
At that moment, footsteps echoed from the tunnel, and Su Jin'er opened her eyes to look outside.
Two people walked in—those who had brought her here.
Brought here?
She suddenly laughed at herself for using the word "brought."
"You! Come here, our mage wants you," one of the thinner men said as he approached and opened the door, pointing at her.
Su Jin'er glanced around; she was alone in this place. Why did he seem to think there were others inside?
She stood up and walked toward the door, but then the man locked it again and said something that sent chills down Su Jin'er’s spine: "You all behave; no messing around. Sit tight!"
Su Jin'er turned to look at the empty cell; there was nothing inside.
Was he talking to a ghost?
At this thought, she couldn't help but shiver and instinctively rubbed her arms as she followed them outside.
This person was really strange; he locked himself up for less than ten minutes and then called someone to let him out. He must have a problem with his head.
Su Jin'er found this amusing.
Just as she was about to walk out, her eyes were covered again.
"Why do you like blindfolding people so much? The path is already hard to walk on, and it's even harder when I can't see!" she protested unhappily.
"Stop talking nonsense!"
With no way to protest further, she could only be pushed along by them. Fortunately, her hands weren't tied this time. The two men held her up on either side and practically ran forward, while her feet barely touched the ground, making it feel like she was flying—just too low to the ground, occasionally hitting stones that made her cry out in pain.
When she finally returned to the ground, she was thrown harshly onto it. She reached up to remove the cloth from her eyes and saw a pitch-black room, still lit by candles in the corners.
She raised an eyebrow and surveyed the room.
It was a rectangular space with a wooden cross at the far end, ropes wrapped around it, and beside it was a table with a whip resting on top.
She stood up and walked closer to inspect the whip, noticing dried black bloodstains on it. This must be where punishments were administered.
Was she going to be punished with that whip?
She had never been hit before; even her parents were reluctant to lay a finger on her.
She gripped the whip tightly, her knuckles turning white.
At that moment, the door was opened again, and Chu Feifan was brought in, unlike her, he was tied up with ropes.
"Feifan—" She walked over, trying to reach for him, but was pushed to the ground.
"Jin'er, are you okay?" Chu Feifan asked nervously.
Su Jin'er did not answer him; she watched helplessly as he was bound to that frame, unable to do anything because she was tightly held by someone.
"What do you want from us?"
No one answered Su Jin'er's question; they simply finished their tasks with expressionless faces and stood aside.
She was tied to a chair, unable to move.
"Chu Feifan, are you alright?"
That sharp voice echoed again, seemingly from every corner of the room.
"You damn coward, come out if you have the guts! Stop hiding!" Chu Feifan shouted angrily.
"Don't get angry just yet; you'll have your turn soon. I’m giving you two choices: first, let this girl watch you get beaten; second, you watch this girl get beaten."
"Isn't that obvious? Of course it's the first one." He answered almost without thinking. "This is my grudge with you; let my friend go."
"Let them go? You really overestimate yourself. It wouldn't be fun if I let them go, and they know too much; they absolutely cannot be released."
Chu Feifan looked at Su Jin'er: "What do you want from us?"
"Nothing much, just playing with you."
"If you want money, I can give it to you. Just let them go."
"Money? Haha, how vulgar! I know your father is wealthy, but I don't want that. I just want you to play with me. Do you know how long I've been waiting for today?"
"Are you the mage?" Su Jin'er finally couldn't help but ask.
"What do you think, little beauty? Why are you all standing there? Hit him, hit him hard!"
The voice suddenly changed, becoming sharp and piercing.
The fattest of the three walked to the table, picked up a whip, and struck Chu Feifan. His coat had somehow been removed, leaving him in only a white shirt with two buttons undone at the collar, exposing skin as pale as porcelain.
Chu Feifan frowned, feeling a burning pain in his chest.
The person continued to lash out several more times, leaving torn marks on his white shirt, blood staining it red.
"Stop! Don't hit him anymore!"
"Oh! You've only been hit a few times and you're already feeling sorry for him. It seems you do have feelings for him! But when he married Arian, you didn't react at all! I was worried sick for him."
"You're a pervert!"
"You're right; I am a pervert. Want to see something even more twisted?"
"No, please don't!" Su Jin'er closed her eyes and shook her head desperately. "Just hit me instead!"
"It seems you really care about him! How about this, Chu Feifan? Look how good I am to you; now you won't have to worry every day that she doesn't love you."
"You bastard! Come out here; I want to fight you one-on-one." Chu Feifan's eyes were red, and sweat slowly dripped down his forehead.
"Don't worry, you'll thank me later."
A person walked over and stuffed a pill into Su Jin'er's mouth.
"What did you give her?"
"Haha! It's something good! You'll thank me in a bit!"
After that voice finished speaking, it fell silent, and the other three people untied Su Jin'er before leaving and locking the door behind them.
Su Jin'er untied the ropes on Chu Feifan's hands and helped him sit in a chair, checking his injuries.
Her fingertips gently brushed against the skin around the wounds. "Does it hurt a lot?"
Tears welled up in her eyes.
Chu Feifan grabbed her hand and shook his head. "I'm not in pain. How do you feel? Is there anywhere uncomfortable?"
Su Jin'er also shook her head, only looking worriedly at his wounds.
"What the hell did that bastard give you? He said I would thank him, as if I would..." Before he could finish his sentence, he froze. Could it be...
"Do you feel hot?" He suddenly became anxious.
Su Jin'er frowned. "A little bit. I felt cold just now! What did he give me?"
"I'm not sure yet, but I'll tell you later." Chu Feifan looked at her somewhat guiltily. If it really was that, how would he explain it to her?
Su Jin'er looked at him in confusion, but her body was getting hotter. She unzipped her jacket. "Why is it so hot? Are you hot too?"
Looking at her increasingly flushed face, he already had a clear answer in his heart. He anxiously looked at her and shook his head, "Jin'er, I think I have to tell you what he gave you."
"Um! Go ahead!" Su Jin'er said, fanning herself with her hand.
Chu Feifan stood up, "If I'm not mistaken, it should be **."
His voice trembled slightly.
"What?" She stopped fanning herself and looked at him incredulously, "You're joking, right?"
"I wish I were wrong!"
Seeing her rosy cheeks, he swallowed hard.
Su Jin'er quickly zipped up her jacket and said, "Stay away from me!"
Her heart began to race. No wonder that person said Chu Feifan would thank him. But seeing Chu Feifan's expression, he seemed even more nervous than she was. So she knew he wasn't the type to take advantage of someone in a vulnerable state. But what if she lost her composure for a moment?
