Su Jin'er and Linyuan were slowly approaching the small cabin. The snow in the forest was less than outside, but it felt colder and more damp, as if every breath brought in a wave of moisture. 0

With each step closer to the house, their fear intensified. 0

Linyuan tightly held Su Jin'er's hand, her palm slick with sweat. 0

"Jin'er, why does it feel so oppressive?" 0

"Yes, I feel the same way. This means there’s definitely something wrong with that house." 0

"Should we call the police? It might be dangerous to just go in like this." 0

Su Jin'er stopped in her tracks. They could now see the house clearly. She glanced at Linyuan beside her; her face was pale, and perhaps her own face mirrored that pallor. She felt selfish for dragging Linyuan into this risky situation. 0

"Jin'er, there's someone by the house!" Linyuan exclaimed, pointing in terror at a corner of the building. 0

Following her gaze, Su Jin'er spotted a Black Shadow at the edge of the house, wearing a grotesque Demon Mask. When it realized they had seen it, it vanished in a strange manner. 0

Su Jin'er swallowed hard and said, "We need to get out of here, now!" 0

They frantically ran through the forest, losing track of where they were headed. The figure in black clothing and mask followed them like a ghost, maintaining a distance that was neither too close nor too far, stubbornly sticking to them like gum. 0

Exhausted and unable to run any longer, they found themselves trapped in the small forest. 0

"This forest can't be this big; why can't we escape?" Linyuan gasped for breath, hands on her knees, unable to move another step. 0

"How can this be happening?" Su Jin'er looked back at the strange figure behind them. It seemed to be watching them with amusement, arms crossed over its chest. Su Jin'er could almost feel its eerie smile behind the mask. 0

"He doesn't seem to have any intention of harming us, or perhaps he wants to instill fear in us so that we give up our investigation. Maybe this person is the Killer." 0

"Now that we've seen him, why hasn't he killed us?" 0

"That's because his goal hasn't been achieved yet, and we still have some value to him!" 0

Their eyes were fixed on the man, who stood there like a statue, motionless. Once they regained their strength, they stood up. Since the man had no intention of killing them, they decided to look for a way out. Although they knew it was dangerous, running aimlessly would only lead to exhaustion or worse—being scared to death. 0

At that moment, Su Jin'er suddenly felt a sharp pain in her head, and the food in front of her began to blur. She pressed her hands against her head and leaned painfully against a tree. 0

Seeing Su Jin'er in distress, Linyuan hurriedly embraced her. "Jin'er, what's wrong?" 0

"My... head hurts so much!" Su Jin'er frowned, her face pale. 0

Linyuan glanced back and noticed that the man in black had vanished. 0

"Hang in there; we'll go back to school together." 0

The sudden turn of events left Linyuan at a loss. On one hand, she was worried that the man might suddenly reappear; on the other hand, she was concerned about Su Jin'er's condition. 0

"Xiaoyuan, let's go this way!" Su Jin'er weakly raised her hand. It felt as if millions of ants were biting her head, and beads of sweat dripped onto the snow. 0

Linyuan supported her and slowly walked in the direction indicated by Jin'er. Linyuan was directionally challenged and couldn't tell north from south. 0

Finally, after nearly half an hour of walking, they emerged from the forest. 0

"Jin'er, we are out," Linyuan said happily. 0

Su Jin'er, who had long been unable to hold on, forced a smile and fainted. 0

"Jin'er, Jin'er—help, help!" 0

Linyuan cried. She had always valued Su Jin'er's life more than her own, and now that Su Jin'er had suddenly fainted, how could she not be afraid? 0

She didn't dare to cry out loud, fearing it would attract the black-clad men from earlier, yet she wanted to cry out loudly in hopes of drawing the attention of anyone passing by. She helplessly looked around at the vast white snowfield. 0

Two figures appeared in the snow. Linyuan tightly held onto Su Jin'er and widened her eyes to look at the two people, praying in her heart that they were not bad people. 0

She saw the two figures point in this direction; their silhouettes seemed familiar—it was them! 0

She joyfully waved her hands at them: "Chu Feifan, Zuo Yi, we are here!" 0

Su Jin'er was taken to the hospital. After examining her, the doctor said there was nothing wrong with her body; she was just too tired and had a slight cold, which caused her to faint. A bit of rest and an IV drip would fix her up. 0

The three of them breathed a sigh of relief. They sat by her bedside watching over her. Linyuan, still terrified, tightly held her hand, afraid that if she let go even for a moment, she would disappear. 0

However, she was also very tired. Having not rested well before and now experiencing such fear, she was already mentally and physically exhausted. 0

"You should sleep for a while! If you don't sleep soon, you'll become a national first-class protected animal," Zuo Yi said gently. 0

"No, I can't sleep. I want to watch over her. When she wakes up, I want to be the first to know." 0

"Alright, you can watch over her. Hold her hand; when she wakes up and moves it, you'll know." 0

Looking at Linyuan, Zuo Yi nodded. She must have been really exhausted, as soon after, even breathing sounds began to emerge. 0

"What a lovely girl!" Zuo Yi couldn't help but exclaim. 0

Having found Su Jin'er, Chu Feifan finally felt relieved. He looked at Zuo Yi and smiled, saying, "You’re not falling for her too, are you?" 0

Zuo Yi curled his lips. "How could that be? My heart only has Xiaoying." 0

"But her personality is almost the same as Xiaoying's, and Xiaoying is already gone. You won't remain unmarried for life because of that, will you?" 0

"Heh heh! That's a matter for the future; we'll talk about it later." 0

Time slowly passed, and two-thirds of the IV drip had already been administered. Su Jin'er furrowed her brows and slowly opened her eyes. 0

Seeing her awake, Chu Feifan took her hand and asked, "You're awake? Do you feel any discomfort?" 0

Su Jin'er looked at Chu Feifan's concerned face and frowned. "The forest, the man in black, Xiaoyuan!" 0

She turned her head and saw Linyuan quietly sleeping by the bedside. 0

"She's fine! Just like you, she’s simply exhausted." 0

"Where have you all been these past few days? We encountered so many strange things." 0

"We'll talk about those things later. The doctor said you have a slight cold and need to rest well due to fatigue!" 0

"I'm not tired; I've already rested. Can you accompany me to that forest? I remember the memories I lost." 0

"Amnesia? When did you lose your memory?" 0

"It was some time ago. Did you accompany me? Maybe I can find Killer." 0

Chu Feifan and Zuo Yi exchanged glances and then said, "Sure, but you need to finish your IV drip first, and Linyuan is still resting. You have to wait for her to wake up, right?" 0

Su Jin'er looked at Linyuan and nodded. 0

"During this time, you can tell us what exactly you encountered." 0

Next, Su Jin'er recounted everything they had experienced, including the incident with Officer Li Jing and how Linyuan almost committed suicide last night. 0

"In the past couple of days, I've suddenly found Li Jing very strange. She appeared so suddenly, and I remember that most of the people in that police station are just going through the motions. Why would she be so interested in this case?" 0

"Have you recovered any of your lost memories?" 0

"It's still very vague. I only remember that I went to that forest and saw someone. As for who it was, I can't recall at all. But strangely, when I saw Li Jing, I felt like I had seen her somewhere before." 0

Chu Feifan lowered his head. After a long while, he looked up at Su Jin'er: "Jin'er, let's not discuss this case for now. I just want to ask you one question. Can you answer me seriously?" 0

Su Jin'er looked into his clear black eyes and nodded. Zuo Yi smiled at him, thinking that this guy was finally going to confess. 0

"This case is so dangerous; we are in the light while the enemy is in the dark. We have no idea who the next victim will be, and this case doesn't really involve you much. Why take the risk of investigating it?" 0

Zuo Yi shook his head helplessly. Su Jin'er, seeing his nervous expression, suddenly laughed: "Are you saying I'm meddling?" 0

"No, that's not what I meant! Don't misunderstand! I just—just—" 0

"Alright, you don't need to explain; I understand what you mean." She lowered her head. "At first, I didn't plan to investigate this matter, and I'm just an ordinary college student. I even told Linyuan not to worry about it. However, when I found out that this incident was related to our dormitory and involved our classmate Li Yiqian, I started to think about investigating. But every time I thought it might put Xiaoyuan in danger, I became scared and wanted to back out. But Xu Mengguang is dead, Li Ran is dead, Zhang Junsheng is dead, and even Grandpa Liu has been dragged into this because of me. I hate myself for it. Although we weren't very close to Xu Mengguang and Zhang Junsheng, we went through tough times together and witnessed their deaths. Who can continue studying and taking exams with a clear conscience? At least I can't." 0

Linyuan also woke up; she heard Su Jin'er’s words and nodded, saying, "Yes, we are scared too, but we are not heartless people." 0

Chu Feifan lowered his head. If he were to simply talk about this matter, he would indeed be selfish. But anyone encountering such a situation would want to stay as far away as possible! 0

"Okay! I give in. Actually, even if you don't investigate, I will. My brother died on that mountain during our Military Training, so I've decided that we will work together to find the Killer. But you have to promise me not to act on your own like this time." 0

"Alright!" Su Jin'er knew that Chu Feifan and Zuo Yi were very smart; with their help, they would be even stronger! 0

Although they initially helped her, she could clearly feel that they weren't fully supporting her but rather trying to protect her. 0

"My IV drip is done, and Xiaoyuan has woken up. Shouldn't you fulfill the promise you just made?" Su Jin'er looked at the IV bottle. 0

"Okay, I'll call the nurse." Friends who like Jin'er Book can join the group: 227369011; here you can communicate directly with Jin'er, share your thoughts, and become friends with her! 0
