"But didn't you say we shouldn't get involved in these matters? And now two people are dead; this must be very dangerous. We should just stay out of it!"
"Don't you realize? Every time something happens, we're there. That means even if we try to ignore it, I think the person behind this will find a way to involve us."
"The person behind this? Why do you say that? Don't you think it's Li Yiqian's sister Li Yiqing seeking revenge?"
"I don't believe in ghosts at all! There's cold medicine in the drawer; please get it for me."
Linyuan took the cold medicine from the drawer and then poured a glass of water, handing it to Su Jin'er. "Who are you going to find?"
"Zhang Junsheng!" Su Jin'er put the medicine in her mouth and swallowed it with the water.
"Why do you want to find that pervert? No way, I'm going with you. At least if there's any danger, I can help you." Linyuan had a look on her face as if she were heading to her doom.
"He's definitely a pervert, but he's also very cowardly."
"Do you know that murderers are usually perverts and also very cowardly?"
"I'm not arguing with you. I just hope this case wraps up quickly. If we catch Killer, we can finish our five years of college in peace." After a pause, she continued, "What about Xiaonan and Qian Qian?"
"You know Qian Qian is determined to avenge her sister. She believes this incident is related to her sister's death, so she went to investigate the person who died yesterday. Xiaonan is worried about her being alone, so she went with her."
"Let's go! We're going to find Zhang Junsheng." Su Jin'er got off the bed, still feeling a bit dizzy.
At that moment, Zhang Junsheng was hiding alone in his dorm room, lost in thought. After hearing that another person had died at the academy that morning, he began to feel scared. He nervously scanned every corner of the room, as if something terrifying was lurking there, ready to pounce and devour him at any moment.
Knock knock knock—
The sudden sound of knocking startled him. He looked at the door in fear, hesitating whether to open it when he heard the voice of the dormitory manager outside.
"Is anyone there? Is Zhang Junsheng here? Someone is looking for you." The voice of the administrator outside was hoarse and low.
Zhang Junsheng stood up nervously and opened the door, asking, "Who is looking for me?"
"They're downstairs!" After speaking, the elderly administrator turned and went downstairs.
Seeing the administrator's figure disappear around the corner of the hallway, Zhang Junsheng unexpectedly chuckled, his smile strange.
A while later, the three of them sat in a café near the school. It was not easy to open a café in such a remote place, and more importantly, the decor was quite stylish. Soft music played in the café, instantly calming their hearts.
Zhang Junsheng picked up the coffee in front of him and took a sip. His complexion was waxy yellow, and he had serious dark circles under his eyes, as if he hadn't slept for many days.
"I think you should be very clear about why we came to find you," Su Jin'er said gently.
"Su Jin'er, I know you're very smart, but I still advise you not to get involved in this matter; it's not something we can handle." His voice trembled, and his hands shook so much that he could barely hold the cup. He awkwardly set it down on the table, but despite his caution, coffee still splashed out.
"Why are you so scared? What do you know?" Looking at him, Su Jin'er actually began to feel sympathy for him. Although thinking about him holding her underwear made her feel disgusted, perhaps he was also a victim.
"I don't know anything. Even if I did, I wouldn't tell you. I genuinely hope you won't get involved in this matter. And as for Li Yiqian, advise her to stop investigating; otherwise, you'll all die—no one can escape."
"How do you know about this school's situation? Aren't you a freshman like us? What exactly happened?" Su Jin'er pressed tightly.
"Yes, I'm a freshman like you, but it's my curiosity that's to blame. Curiosity can really kill!" He leaned weakly against the back of his chair, his voice filled with desolation—nothing like what someone his age should sound like.
"What do you know? Hurry up and tell us; maybe we can find the Killer, and then none of us will die." Linyuan said anxiously.
"Killer? Ridiculous! Do you think this is all man-made? Have you ever seen someone scream for help while stabbing a knife into their own throat?" After saying that, he realized he had said too much.
"What do you mean? Are you saying that the person who died yesterday stabbed themselves in the throat?" Su Jin'er exclaimed in surprise; she had never considered such a possibility.
From then on, no matter how Su Jin'er asked, Zhang Junsheng no longer responded. He simply sat there quietly, staring out the window without moving.
Eventually, they had to give up on their inquiries. They had originally thought that Zhang Junsheng would help unravel some mysteries, but it seemed that the enigma was only growing larger.
As soon as they returned to their dormitory and hadn’t even had a chance to sit down, Su Jin'er’s phone rang.
“It’s Chu Feifan. He’s waiting for us downstairs in the dormitory and says he has important news to share,” Su Jin'er said after answering the call.
Su Jin'er had no idea what news Chu Feifan would bring her, nor could she foresee the many tragedies she would soon face.
“What news do you have?” Linyuan asked.
At that moment, they were sitting in a pavilion by the school lake.
“We heard from someone at the police station that the person from yesterday seems to have committed suicide. The knife found in his neck only had his fingerprints on it,” Zuo Yi said.
“We already heard this from Zhang Junsheng, but what he said seemed even more terrifying,” Su Jin'er replied.
“What do you mean?” Chu Feifan asked.
“It seems Zhang Junsheng witnessed the process of that person's death, but he refuses to say anything. He only mentioned that the person stabbed himself in the throat with a knife while desperately screaming for help,” Su Jin'er said thoughtfully as she looked at the lake.
“Then why don’t you ask him for more details?”
“He won’t say. He must have been scared! From what he implied, he seems to think this incident is supernatural.”
“Could it be that ghost named Xiaoqing?” Zuo Yi said with a hint of amusement.
“I don’t know; this matter might not be so simple,” Chu Feifan replied.
"Is that all the news you brought?" Su Jin'er suddenly asked.
"Of course not. We also investigated the information about the person who died yesterday. Can you guess who he is?" Zuo Yi teased.
"Oh come on! Just tell us already. Who has time to waste here with you?" Linyuan said, pouting.
"He was a student of The Big Five, and more importantly, he used to be Xiaoqing's boyfriend."
"What?" Su Jin'er and Linyuan exclaimed in unison.
"It's true. His name is Li Ran, but for some reason, Xiaoqing broke up with him. He was in a lot of pain, and after Xiaoqing died, he fell seriously ill," Chu Feifan added.
"What else has she been hiding from us?" Su Jin'er murmured. She had always felt that Li Yiqian was withholding something, but she didn't know if Li Yiqian was aware of this matter.
"Who?" Chu Feifan asked.
"Li Yiqian. That Xiaoqing is Li Yiqian's sister. She came here to study to investigate her sister's death. She said she doesn't believe her sister would commit suicide due to academic pressure."
Hearing Su Jin'er's words, both Chu Feifan and Zuo Yi gasped.
"We need to find out what happened five years ago that led to five deaths in one month," Su Jin'er's voice trembled slightly.
"You've heard about that rumor too?" Zuo Yi asked.
"Yes. First, Xiaoqing hanged herself, then two other girls hanged themselves as well, one fell from a building, and another drowned. What's strange is that all the deceased were girls," Su Jin'er said, lowering her head. For some reason, she had a feeling that someone else would die, and she hated that feeling.
"There's one more thing you might not know," Chu Feifan said, glancing at the pale-faced Su Jin'er. "The girls who died were good friends. Although they weren't in the same dormitory, they were in the same class."
"That makes it even stranger," Su Jin'er said as she looked up at Chu Feifan. "Who told you this news?"
"Ha ha! Jin'er, you have no idea! Our Young Master Chu is quite charming; even the Senior Sister from The Big Five is completely captivated by him. And this Senior Sister is none other than the Chairman of the Student Council, ha ha," Zuo Yi said with a laugh.
"Come on, don't say such things!" Chu Feifan's face turned red and pale as he spoke.
Su Jin'er was taken aback for a moment before saying, "Well, you're not the Chairman yet! But if that's the case, it shouldn't be a problem for you to get the key to the resource room from her, right?"
"Um—fine!" Just thinking about that Senior Sister made him break out in a cold sweat. He had seen bold girls express their feelings before, but he had never encountered someone like the Senior Sister who was so unabashed. Remembering the way she looked at him made him feel scared, as if he were standing in front of her completely naked.
"Then tonight at nine o'clock, we'll go to the resource room. The school should have records of what happened five years ago!"
"Yes, there is a clear regulation in the Student Council's rules that every Chairman must record significant events that happen at the school. The death of five people within a month should definitely qualify as a major event!"
After deciding on their plans for the evening, they each went back to handle their own matters. It was almost noon, and she wondered if Li Yiqian and Du Xiaonan had found any important clues. Additionally, Su Jin'er still had some questions to ask Li Yiqian.
Upon returning to the dormitory, she found that both of them had not yet returned, so she decided to go to the cafeteria for a meal first.
