"Bu—but..." Chen Yina didn't know how to explain to Chen Haoxuan. Chen Haoxuan could afford to eat well for the whole family, but she was different. Her father had heart disease and needed medication every day to stay alive, and both her brother and she needed to study. She was essentially holding the family together; if she didn't work hard to earn money, their household would fall apart.
"Stop with the 'buts.' Trust me, you won't regret it. Let's go shopping at the mall and buy some decent clothes," Chen Haoxuan said, pulling Chen Yina along regardless of her agreement.
Chen Haoxuan didn't go to a high-end clothing store; it wasn't that he didn't want branded clothes, but he simply couldn't afford them. He took Chen Yina through the bustling streets and ended up buying two fitted shirts, two pairs of tailored pants, and two pairs of leather shoes. The quality was decent and affordable, costing only a thousand yuan. He also bought a dress for Chen Yina.
The next day, Chen Haoxuan woke up early. After washing his face and brushing his teeth, he put on the clothes he bought yesterday. He applied some hair wax in his palms, rubbed his hands together, smoothed it onto his hair, and then combed it through. A spirited and handsome young man appeared.
Looking at himself in the mirror, Chen Haoxuan smiled to himself and said, "Now that's more like it!"
After finishing the breakfast that Chen Yina cooked, Chen Haoxuan followed her with great anticipation to New City University. He was eager to see what a 21st-century campus looked like.
At the entrance of New City University, a group of girls was chatting together when one suddenly exclaimed, "Look! Isn't that the handsome guy Chen Haoxuan? He looks so manly today!"
"Ah—if only he really had that manly charm," another girl sighed. Chen Haoxuan was recognized as a handsome guy among them, but unfortunately, he lacked the courage to stand up for himself when bullied.
"Sisters, let's go tease him—what do you think?" one girl suggested. Teasing Chen Haoxuan was something they often did, which was why he had been so shy before; it was all because of these flirtatious girls.
While Chen Haoxuan was admiring the scenery of the 21st century, he suddenly found himself surrounded by a group of girls. His reaction was quick; he immediately assumed a defensive posture. However, to his surprise, these girls gently started to flirt with him—pinching his cheeks, touching his waist, and holding his hands.
"Chen Haoxuan, you look so handsome today! You should dress like this all the time. Chen Haoxuan, I've been feeling lonely lately; why don't you be my boyfriend? I've actually had a crush on you for a long time..." The girls continued to tease him.
"So that's why there were so many admirers for Chen Haoxuan at school before," he thought to himself.
Chen Haoxuan was not exactly a paragon of virtue. With so many girls surrounding him, touching him all over, it was only natural that he should reciprocate. "Wow—your figure is amazing! Beside Chen Haoxuan, Chen Yina covered her mouth and chuckled, "I didn't expect the amnesiac you to be so bold. It used to be others teasing you, but now you're the one teasing them."
At that moment, a group of male students approached Chen Haoxuan, led by Zhu Tian, who had been knocked out by Chen Haoxuan the day before. Zhu Tian had come early with his lackeys to wait for Chen Haoxuan at the university gate to seek revenge.
"Chen Haoxuan!" Zhu Tian shouted his name almost as if he were roaring.
Chen Haoxuan and Chen Yina turned their heads in unison. When Chen Yina saw it was Zhu Tian, she instinctively grabbed Chen Haoxuan's arm and started to run. She had done this countless times before. "Wait! What’s meant to come will always come; running away isn't a solution. Nana, you go into the school first. Don’t worry; I’ll be fine," Chen Haoxuan said gently to Chen Yina. He wanted to deal with Zhu Tian now and thought the simplest way was to scare him.
"But—what about you...?" Chen Yina was worried about Chen Haoxuan facing Zhu Tian and his gang alone.
"Don’t worry! I promise I’ll come back safely," Chen Haoxuan assured her, patting his chest.
Zhu Tian didn’t want to bully a weak girl; he wisely instructed his lackeys to let Chen Yina go, who left while looking back multiple times.
"Brothers, grab Chen Haoxuan and take him into the alley up ahead. I’m going to teach him a lesson," Zhu Tian shouted with an air of authority.
Two strong boys grabbed Chen Haoxuan and led him toward a nearby alley. Chen Haoxuan didn’t resist; he actually preferred going to an isolated place. He wasn’t worried about his safety; although he didn’t have a body as strong as those from Future Century, his fighting skills and experience were incredibly rich. Dealing with these college students who hadn’t even fully matured was easy for him.
In a dead-end alley, Zhu Tian coldly said to Chen Haoxuan, "I give you two choices: either strip naked and run around New City University or let me beat you into a cripple."
"I'll tell you, Zhu Tian, I am no longer the same Chen Haoxuan as before. You'd better choose to shake hands and make peace with me, because becoming my enemy is a terrifying thing that will keep you living in fear," Chen Haoxuan said coldly, his killing intent growing stronger, as if he could barely hold back from making a move.
"You think you're something? Brothers, teach him a lesson!" Zhu Tian shouted angrily. The cowardly Chen Haoxuan actually dared to speak to him like that and even threaten him. He was furious and decided that today he would definitely take down Chen Haoxuan.
This time, Zhu Tian learned his lesson. He sent his lackeys in while he stayed back to cheer them on. Chen Haoxuan didn't want to waste time on these small fries since class was about to start. So, he pushed off the wall with his left foot and then kicked off the right wall with his right foot, leaping over Zhu Tian's lackey.
Seeing Chen Haoxuan display such impressive skills, Zhu Tian no longer underestimated him and immediately got serious. In the blink of an eye, Chen Haoxuan was in front of Zhu Tian. Zhu Tian quickly raised his fist to strike at Chen Haoxuan's head, but Chen Haoxuan tilted his head aside, dodging Zhu Tian's fierce punch. Without hesitation, Chen Haoxuan slapped Zhu Tian across the face with a loud crack that echoed through the alley.
