Chen Yina was the first to react. As soon as she woke up, she grabbed Chen Haoxuan and ran desperately outside the school. It was noon, and class would start soon, but Chen Yina couldn't care less about skipping class; it was better than being bullied by Zhu Tian and his gang.
Chen Haoxuan felt like a walking corpse, allowing Chen Yina to drag him along. As he looked around, he saw vehicles that only existed in the 21st century continuously passing by on the road. If these vehicles were brought to the Future Century, they would be worth millions of dollars. However, they were so abundant here, combined with the outdated clothing of the pedestrians, that Chen Haoxuan was certain this place was not the Future Century but rather the 21st century.
Zhu Tian's lackeys did not dare to chase after Chen Haoxuan. They had just witnessed how easily he had taken down their once-admired leader. Such a hidden talent made them reluctant to provoke him.
"Boss, wake up..." Zhu Tian's lackey kept shaking Zhu Tian while calling out loudly.
Zhu Tian slowly opened his eyes and groggily asked, "What just happened? Why did I see Chen Haoxuan attacking me?" Even now, Zhu Tian couldn't believe he had been knocked out by Chen Haoxuan. He had bullied Chen Haoxuan for over a year and had only ever seen him run away; he had never seen him fight back.
"Boss, Chen Haoxuan really attacked you just now, and he was incredibly strong. We were about to help you when he ran away; otherwise, we would have taught him a lesson," Zhu Tian's lackey said angrily. They were being insincere; after Chen Haoxuan knocked out their boss, he did not leave immediately. They had plenty of time to stop him, but none of them dared to block his path.
Zhu Tian staggered to his feet and pointed at his lackeys, shouting, "You all let a useless person get away when there are so many of you! What have you been doing all these years? Why are you still standing here? Go after him!"
Seeing their boss furious, Zhu Tian's lackeys reluctantly chased after the direction where Chen Haoxuan had gone. As they ran, they grumbled internally: "If we're useless, then you're even more useless for getting knocked out by that waste of space."
Chen Yina dragged Chen Haoxuan out of the campus and ran for nearly twenty minutes before stopping. There were no tall buildings around, only a simple Tile House made of bricks. "Brother Xuan, let's go home; we won't be going to class today," Chen Yina said breathlessly. This was her first time running such a long distance.
"Home? Our home? Where is it?" Chen Haoxuan asked breathlessly as well. After running for twenty minutes, he felt extremely exhausted. Ever since he became Chief Professor, he had almost forgotten what fatigue felt like because he had used various methods to make his body incredibly strong and didn't have to go into battle anymore. The feeling of exhaustion made him realize that he was no longer that crazy professor.
"This is it! Brother Xuan, you haven't forgotten our home, have you?" Chen Yina pointed at a shabby Tile House ahead.
Chen Haoxuan felt a bit dizzy; this was his home? How could it be so shabby? It looked no different from an outhouse.
Chen Yina walked to the front door of the Tile House, took out a key from her pocket, and with a click, opened the door. She turned to Chen Haoxuan and waved, "Brother Xuan, why are you just standing there? Come in!"
Chen Haoxuan stepped inside and immediately asked Chen Yina, "Excuse me, could you lend me a mirror?"
"Mirror? Don't you have one in your room, Brother Xuan?" Chen Yina pointed to his room, puzzled. She felt that her Brother Xuan was acting strangely today. After being hit by an apple thrown by Zhu Tian, it seemed like he no longer recognized her. Then he effortlessly knocked out the thug Zhu Tian like a martial arts master. Now he even seemed to forget their home and his own room. Could it be that the apple hit him so hard that he lost his memory?
Chen Haoxuan entered the room Chen Yina indicated and quickly found a basketball-sized mirror by the window. When he picked up the mirror and saw his reflection, he was startled. He touched his face and muttered to himself, "My goodness! Is this really me?" His smooth, fair skin revealed sharp features; his deep black eyes sparkled with charm; thick eyebrows, a high nose, and perfectly shaped lips all exuded nobility and elegance. Coupled with his simple attire, it gave him a natural beauty that even left Chen Haoxuan mesmerized by his own appearance.
Chen Yina walked into Chen Haoxuan's room, her mind filled with questions. Why did her Brother Xuan not recognize her at school? Why was he able to knock out Zhu Tian with martial arts? Why had he forgotten their home?
"Brother Xuan, what's wrong with you today?" Chen Yina asked with red eyes as she looked at Chen Haoxuan who was admiring himself in the mirror.
"Ah—." Chen Haoxuan put down the mirror and turned to see Chen Yina's red eyes and worried expression. He didn't know how to talk to this unfamiliar girl but could sense that there was an unusual connection between him and her.
Chen Haoxuan's mind raced, and suddenly an idea struck him. Since he didn't know why he had changed like this, he might as well pretend to have amnesia. "I—I think I have amnesia. I've forgotten everything, including myself. I can't recall any of my past memories. Can you tell me about it?" Chen Haoxuan said seriously to Chen Yina.
"Ah—, you—you say you have amnesia?" Chen Yina gasped, covering her mouth with her small hand.
"Yes, it's true. I'm not lying to you. Although I can't remember anything from before, I can feel that I'm very familiar with you," Chen Haoxuan replied.
Hearing Chen Haoxuan's words made Chen Yina's heart flutter with sweetness. After comforting him for a while, she slowly began to tell him about the past of his current body. They talked for two hours, and after the lengthy explanation, Chen Haoxuan finally understood the gist of it. It turned out that this body shared his name—Chen Haoxuan—as well; it seemed like fate. He also learned that he was now living alone because a few years ago, this body's older brother had separated from him. Their parents chose to live with his brother because he was more capable; he had opened a small store in the county town and even bought a van. His parents were materialistic people who naturally chose to live with his brother instead.
