The Celestial Palace of Leisure is different from the outside Desert, as it still experiences a division between day and night. At this moment, dusk has fallen, and large areas of Crimson Glow signal that night is approaching.
In the Radiance, the vast Salt Pond resembles a gigantic mirror. In the center lies a thick layer of saltwater glowing with Azure Light, surrounded by large, solidified salt layers that appear bright white and seem very smooth at first glance.
Many mortals are busy around the Salt Pond. These individuals look like slaves, scantily clad, with some even shackled at their hands and feet. They use pickaxes to break open the salt layers and shovels to carve them into neat blocks, which they then pack into burlap sacks. Once a sack is filled, two people grab a corner and lift it into a large cart parked by the roadside.
These carts, pulled by Azure Wind Antelopes, continuously travel along this road, which leads to the Salt Warehouse—a long row of square stone houses resembling boxes, surrounded by tall walls with only one exit. About five hundred mortal warriors guard the entrance, their vigilant eyes fixed on every driver and salt worker.
Suddenly, one bearded warrior shouted, “You! Yes, you! Stop!” He rushed forward, hand on his sword hilt, and seized a person.
It was a Mortal Boy who appeared to be around fourteen or fifteen years old, dressed in rags with a pale and thin face. Upon seeing the warrior charging towards him, he trembled in fear.
The warrior reached him and sneered, “Did you think your little tricks could fool me?” He forcefully pulled open the boy's tattered burlap shirt.
With a clatter, a small piece of white salt no larger than half a palm fell to the ground. The boy was caught on the spot, unable to run away, staring blankly at the bearded warrior.
The bearded warrior chuckled coldly, “Good! Another one who isn’t afraid of death!” He stomped hard on the small salt piece, crushing it into powder before drawing his long knife with a sinister grin aimed at the boy's neck.
“Stop!” A loud shout echoed from above.
All mortals looked up and immediately knelt down in fear; even the murderous bearded warrior dropped his knife and trembled as he fell to his knees. Moments later, only the dazed boy remained standing inside and outside the Salt Warehouse.
Li Hongfei landed on the ground and pointed at the bearded warrior, shouting, “Are you human or beast for wanting to take his life over such a small piece of salt? It seems you are not human! Since that’s the case, I Li Hong won’t hesitate to send you on your way!”
With a flick of his finger, a True Fire darted swiftly into the body of the bearded warrior. The warrior didn’t even have time to scream before he turned into a fireball; his face briefly showed pain amidst the flames before he crumbled into a small pile of ashes with a thud.
In an instant, this bearded warrior completely vanished from this world. The mortal warriors watched in horror at this scene.
“Get lost! All of you get lost! I can’t stand you filthy creatures! Get out! If you don’t leave quickly enough, I’ll treat you all the same!” From behind them, Heavenly Torch stepped down from the void with an air of murderous intent.
All the warriors fled in panic, faster than rabbits, and in the blink of an eye, the Salt Warehouse was empty.
It was only at this moment that the young man regained his senses, realizing he had narrowly escaped death. He was about to run when Li Hong grabbed him, saying, "Wait a moment, little brother, I have something to ask you."
The boy trembled violently. Even though Li Hong had saved his life, it seemed to pale in comparison to the terrifying impact of his "immortal" identity. No matter how gentle Li Hong's tone was, the boy's eyes began to glaze over, his legs shook uncontrollably, and a stream of yellow liquid flowed down his pant leg.
Li Hong smiled wryly and patted the boy's head. A wave of gentle Awareness flowed into him, calming the boy's mind. He softly said, "Little brother, we came from outside; we are not immortals from the Celestial Palace of Leisure. Don't be afraid. Also, I found it strange that with so much salt here, why would you steal salt? Why would that person want to kill you over such a small piece of salt? Don't worry; I just found it odd and wanted to ask."
After a long while, the boy finally understood and replied shakily, "Xiaoyao City has large Salt Ponds, but those Salt Ponds belong to the city lord. The common people must pay a high price for salt. We are all slaves, working hard every day without a single meal to spare; where would we get salt? My mother is sick and just wanted some saltwater to drink, so I stole it. Immortal, please have mercy and let me go."
Upon hearing this, Heavenly Torch nearly exploded with rage: "What kind of immortal realm is this? It's even worse than the Human Realm! Kid, just wait!"
In a flash, Heavenly Torch flew to the entrance of the Salt Warehouse and punched the wall without even looking. With a loud crash, half of the wall collapsed, revealing piles of bags filled with salt.
Heavenly Torch casually grabbed one bag and flew back in front of the boy, extending his hand: "Here! This is a gift from me! If that dog of a city lord dares to mess with you, I'll make sure to twist his head off! If anyone asks you, just say it was me who said so!"
The boy stared intently at the bag of salt; his eyes slowly brightened. Just as he was about to reach out for it, he saw Li Hong snatch the bag from Heavenly Torch's hands. He loosened the rope and poured half of its contents onto the ground while keeping the other half tightly secured before handing it to the boy: "Take this; you should be able to carry it. Run fast! As fast as you can!"
Without saying another word, the boy took the bag and slung it over his shoulder before quickly darting down a side path.
"You really are thoughtful; how did I not realize this little guy couldn't carry much?" Heavenly Torch chuckled as he scratched his head. "What should we do next?"
"Of course we create chaos; the more chaotic it gets, the better! We should..." Li Hong whispered his plan. Heavenly Torch listened with excitement and gave a thumbs up: "That's clever! But hey, it's exactly what I wanted! Let's start!"
Li Hong charged into the Salt Warehouse, forming hand seals continuously as bags filled with salt flew into his sleeves like a tide; hidden within were Cosmic Bags. All those bags filled with salt were actually stored in Cosmic Bags.
Meanwhile, Heavenly Torch soared into the air with his large copper bell-like eyes scanning around. Before long, he spotted a target and suddenly dashed eastward. Shortly after, there was a muffled grunt followed by a heavy thud as something fell to the ground.
Soon, the Heavenly Torch returned, with a person tucked under its elbow, one of the twenty or so immortals from the Celestial Palace of Leisure who had been watching them.
At this point, Li Hong had already finished collecting all the sacks in the warehouse and, without hesitation, started a fire. This was no ordinary fire; it was the indestructible True Fire. The stone house, devoid of any flammable materials, ignited in an instant. The stones quickly melted and with a loud crash, the entire Salt Warehouse ceased to exist.
Now, in the bare courtyard of the Salt Warehouse, only Li Hong Tian Zhu and the captured immortal from the Celestial Palace of Leisure remained.
The sky had completely darkened, and the last bit of dim red light from the melted stones illuminated the immortal's face. Li Hong realized that this was a familiar face—Xiao Twelve, who had discovered them initially.
Li Hong chuckled and summoned Lingyi, holding it in his hand as he waved it in front of Xiao Twelve's face, threatening fiercely, "Shout! Scream at the top of your lungs! If you don't make a sound, I'll gouge out your eyeballs!"
Xiao Twelve remained defiant, gritting his teeth and saying nothing.
Li Hong laughed, "I didn't expect you to be such a tough guy despite your unimpressive looks. But no matter how tough you are, you can't compare to a magic weapon!" With a swift strike, he plunged it into Xiao Twelve's chest. However, he deliberately avoided the heart and targeted the Dan Zhong acupoint instead, twisting it forcefully to disrupt the Ren Meridian.
This was indeed a critical point in the meridians. Xiao Twelve's expression changed drastically. Li Hong felt it wasn't enough to draw out those lurking in the shadows, so he made another deep cut. Finally, Xiao Twelve let out a loud scream as one of his arms flew off and fell into the dark red molten stone, slowly catching fire and shrinking into ashes.
"Very good! Keep shouting; otherwise, your legs will be next!" Li Hong waved Lingyi near Xiao Twelve's thigh. Unable to contain his fear any longer, Xiao Twelve shouted, "Come out! Everyone come quickly! We must capture him!"
As soon as he finished speaking, it was as if fireworks had ignited in the dark night; dozens of dazzling flashes rushed towards Li Hong Tian Zhu.
"Come on!" Li Hong shouted loudly. The Moonlight of the Waning Moon flashed out at once while Lingyi brutally slashed across Xiao Twelve's neck. His head immediately rolled away. The silver-white Nascent Soul attempted to escape but was swiftly caught by Li Hong by its neck. With a powerful grip of his fingers, he crushed it instantly.
Xiao Twelve was obliterated both physically and spiritually.
At that moment, Heavenly Torch made a sharp turn with a series of crisp sounds ringing out. Its appearance suddenly transformed; two horns sprouted from its head while countless fiery dragon scales erupted all over its body. A massive fist resembling a vinegar jar emitted a trail of red light as it struck with an ear-splitting crackle that shattered at least half of the magic weapons in its path.
Li Hong's subordinates were equally ruthless; these immortals from the palace wielded standard silver-white Flying Swords that were at most mid-grade spiritual weapons from the Mortal Realm. They stood no chance against Li Hong’s full-force strike with Yue Que. It looked as if silver rain fell from the sky as countless tiny metallic fragments scattered down like confetti.
The two of them destroyed all the tails with a single strike of the Flying Sword! These immortals were closely tied to their own Flying Swords, and the dozens of figures flying towards them all paused. In the next moment, Li Hong shouted, "You go left, I go right!"
The two of them leaped forward, surprisingly not using any magical artifacts, but employing their unmatched close combat techniques.
Li Hong's fists transformed into a pair of shining golden iron fists. With one punch, he struck the immortals as if hitting leather; with a thud, their chests caved in. With another punch, a head was completely driven into its chest, the body crushed. Similarly, the Celestial Candle Dragon was equally formidable. The two moved like hungry tigers pouncing on sheep. Before those immortals could react, in that brief moment when their spiritual energy faltered, they were all severely injured and fell from the sky with splashes.
In just three breaths, the battle was over. Li Hong and Heavenly Torch both swayed slightly, flames rising a foot high from their bodies, burning away the bloodstains on them. Li Hong looked at the struggling bodies and coldly said, "Brother, eliminate the roots!"
"Absolutely!"
The two brushed past each other again, their cooperation flawless, and in an instant, all those tails were completely annihilated.
"Continue with the plan." Li Hong took out two Invisibility Talismans and affixed one to himself and one to Heavenly Torch. Their figures swiftly vanished from sight.
In the next moment, an immortal from the Celestial Palace of Leisure hurriedly flew over. Upon seeing the ground littered with severed limbs and bones, his expression changed drastically, and he immediately retreated.
In the darkness, two invisible figures closely followed him.
