"How did you get in here!"
A loud shout came from behind, and Yue Changzi appeared out of nowhere.
Li Hong immediately panicked, feeling like a thief caught red-handed, stammering and unsure of what to say.
Yue Changzi quickly scanned the surroundings and cautiously picked up a few silver needles that were still twitching. Upon closer inspection, he was instantly shocked: "You actually broke the 'Heavenly Extreme Needle' set up by the Tenth Generation Sect Master Ancestor! How did you do it? Stand still!"
He approached the small room, gesturing with his hands as he cast a series of seals. Strange red lights flickered around the outer layer of the small room. After a while, when sweat appeared on his forehead, Yue Changzi finally stopped and muttered to himself, "Strange! The restrictions only activated the first layer. It actually let this kid go."
He turned around and shouted, "How did you know about this place? How did you get in? What happened just now?"
Fortune favors the bold. Li Hong thought to himself that since Yue Que had already been cultivated by him, did Yue Changzi want to take it back? He decided to take the plunge and said loudly, "I got lost and accidentally discovered something behind the wall. I walked in and almost got killed by those silver needles. At a critical moment, Yue Que saved me!"
"Yue Que!" Yue Changzi looked utterly stunned, staring at Li Hong with eyes nearly popping out of their sockets.
After a moment, he finally grasped the situation. "Yue Que actually came out by itself... It came out by itself... This is serious! Quickly follow me to see the Sect Leader!" He grabbed Li Hong and dragged him outside.
As Li Hong was pulled toward the wall, he felt a twinge of reluctance in his heart—it was for Yue Que. Why was it reluctant? Li Hong turned back to look; the small room still stood quietly, as if there was something else there...
Suddenly everything went dark and then bright again. Li Hong found himself back in the Passageway, with the wall he had entered through right behind him.

The hall was dimly lit, and Ling Xuzi's face appeared calm as he gazed at Li Hong, seemingly lost in thought.
Yue Changzi shouted loudly, "Chu Hong trespassed into a forbidden area, and what's worse is that he actually cultivated Yue Que without permission—this is extremely audacious! Please instruct us on how to punish him!"
Ling Xuzi avoided answering directly and instead said, "According to you, the reason he cannot cultivate those Artifact Spirits has already been found. Please share it with me."
Yue Changzi was taken aback, revealing a thoughtful expression. He replied, "I suddenly remembered that there was a similar case in the past. Our sect once had a disciple who was in a situation like his. It troubled the elders of the Artifact Hall at that time, as they spent months trying to find a suitable artifact for him, exhausting various refining materials, but all were rejected by this disciple's constitution. This elder was well-read and had an idea; upon trying again, he succeeded."
He paused at this point. Li Hong, being personally involved, had been listening intently, and even Ling Xuzi was captivated.
"The five elements of heaven and earth—metal, wood, water, fire, and earth—generally, people are born with a preference for one of these elements. For example, most of our Nine Li Sect disciples lean towards Fire Spirit, so as long as it is not an attribute artifact, they can generally cultivate it. However, that disciple had no affinity for any of the five elements; in other words, he was born without any elemental affinity. Such a constitution is extremely rare; I have heard..." He lowered his voice and continued, "I have heard that those from the Demon Sect particularly favor individuals with such constitutions."
"But since that disciple was taken into our Nine Li Sect first, he naturally has nothing to do with those Demons." Yue Changzi's voice rose again: "That elder used a method where he refined five precious materials representing metal, wood, water, fire, and earth into a Flying Sword with extremely balanced properties. Each material was equal in quantity and inscribed with the same formation; the five elements were interconnected. Remarkably, it worked! That disciple could use it."
Li Hong's heart trembled; could it be...
Yue Changzi continued without any anger now, looking at Li Hong: "The secret of that artifact refinement was known only to that elder from the Artifact Hall. He did not tell anyone else; he wrote it down in notes that only each generation of Artifact Hall elders can read. I was fortunate enough to read it back then. Interestingly enough, that disciple has quite a connection with Chu Hong; this person..." He hesitated at this point, unsure whether to continue.
However, Li Hong had already guessed it and asked eagerly: "Is it the senior who cultivated the Six Spirit Salty Ritual three thousand years ago?"
Yue Changzi nodded slowly and suddenly bowed to Ling Xuzi: "Although I am very angry that this kid trespassed into forbidden grounds, according to him, he felt the summoning of Yue Que. This is an opportunity; perhaps Yue Que is meant to emerge. I ask the sect leader to consider this situation and be lenient."
Seeing Yue Changzi plead for him made Li Hong feel grateful and hopeful as he looked towards Ling Xuzi.
Ling Xuzi silently stroked his beard for a while before saying: "Every drink and every bite may be preordained. Perhaps Yue Que really should emerge. Please inform Chu Hong about Yue Que's background. I must enter meditation now; alas, just when one matter is unresolved another arises." He revealed a worry unbefitting his status as sect leader and hurriedly concealed it as he left.

Back at the Artifact Hall, Yue Changzi closed the main hall door and activated the restrictions before saying to Li Hong: "Do not blame me for what happened earlier; first of all, it was sudden and I was genuinely shocked. Secondly, trespassing into forbidden areas is indeed your fault. To be honest, I personally have no aversion towards you. I hope you understand."
Li Hong quickly replied: "I am sorry for causing trouble for the elder; your words make me feel ashamed."
"Well, you are quite sensible." He dragged over two chairs, sat down on one, and gestured for Li Hong to take the other. Twirling his beard, he fell into deep thought. After a while, he slowly said, "What we discuss today is a secret of our sect; you must remember to keep it in mind and act cautiously."
Li Hong nodded repeatedly.
"Our sect has been established for thousands of years, and during this time, we have faced numerous crises, almost all of which were related to those Demons from the Demon Sect. Fortunately, with the protection of our Ancestor, we have managed to get through each time. Three thousand years ago, a disciple joined our sect just as it was time for Nine Beam Peak to recruit students. This disciple became a student under the Elder Brother of Nine Beam Peak. It was none other than that senior; he actually has deep ties with Nine Beam Peak. After joining, this disciple initially practiced the Li Fire Scripture, but despite his efforts, he made little progress and fell far behind his peers, facing ridicule and exclusion from his fellow brothers. This person was naturally proud and disdainful of seeking help. By chance, he stumbled into the Scripture Repository's secret chamber and obtained the inheritance of the Six Spirit Salty Ritual. He did not tell anyone, including his master, and secretly practiced the Six Spirit Salty Ritual until he achieved great success. He was exceptionally talented and quick-witted; in the sect, he kept to himself and rarely took action. Even when he did act, it was using techniques from the Li Fire Scripture, so no one noticed anything unusual. He continued this way until he reached the Golden Core Stage. At that time, the Demon Sect Monsters grew increasingly rampant, and all experts above the Golden Core Stage in our sect had to take turns going down the mountain to stand guard. He was among them. At that time, various factions of the Immortal Sect formed groups to combat the Demons; they were not allowed to act alone. Coincidentally, he was grouped with several disciples from Emei Sect and gradually revealed his abilities. The Emei disciples disliked him and constantly marginalized him. One day they encountered a Demon Sect Monster; somehow he used some technique to save everyone’s lives. Instead of being grateful, those few accused him of being a spy for the Demon Sect, claiming that his technique was no different from that used by the Demon Sect Monsters and even more powerful than what those Monsters used. This matter quickly escalated all the way to the Sect Master at that time."
Li Hong's heart trembled at this point; others might not understand, but he had an inkling that the technique used by that senior must have been the Summoning Technique. When using Summoning Technique, a chilling wind blows in, and Yin Spirits come at its call; it indeed appears very strange. No wonder it could be misunderstood. Suddenly a thought crossed his mind: could it be that Demon Sect Monsters also used similar techniques? And perhaps they were inferior to Summoning Technique?!
Yue Changzi continued: "At that time, the Tenth Generation Sect Master Ancestor personally descended the mountain and found this senior; only then did they learn that he had obtained the inheritance of the Six Spirit Salty Ritual and that his divine powers were fundamentally derived from it."
Li Hong opened his mouth to ask something but Yue Changzi raised his hand to signal him to wait: "Let me finish first. At that time, there were also internal contradictions within the Immortal Sect; our Nine Li Sect was not ranked fifth as it is now but second, only below Kunlun. Emei had always been at odds with us and took advantage of this situation to make a big deal out of it. The Tenth Generation Sect Master Ancestor was forced into a corner and could not reveal the secret of the Six Spirit Salty Ritual because if he did so, then Demon Sect Monsters would know we had a technique capable of countering them. In desperation, he had no choice but to announce that this senior was expelled from our sect's walls. It was actually meant as a means of protection. That senior was proud and angry; he immediately left in a huff and declared that he would never step into Nine Li Sect again for life—whenever he saw any disciple from Nine Li Sect appear, he would immediately flee a hundred miles away. To be fair, what Tenth Generation Sect Leader did at that time was truly out of necessity; he even secretly sent people to look for him afterward. Unfortunately, that senior had already vanished without a trace and could not be found at all. This matter came to an end here. Decades passed like this; during these years of diligent cultivation, this senior unexpectedly reached Nascent Soul Stage—a remarkable achievement indeed! Moreover, during this period in the world, he somehow obtained Yue Que. Because of Yue Que's influence, he could no longer hide his presence and frequently attracted attention from Demon Sect Monsters who came looking for him. Fortunately, with his high cultivation level and methods to counter Demons, he always sensed their approach beforehand and managed to escape while often causing those Demons to suffer losses instead. As a result, his reputation grew louder; not only did Demon Sect Monsters view him as a thorn in their side but some within Immortal Sect also sought to eliminate him quickly. You should understand why this is happening now?"
Li Hong felt a chill run down his spine; an innocent man suffers because of possessing something valuable—the key lies with Yue Que and the Six Spirit Salty Ritual!
"This senior single-handedly fought against Demon Sect Monsters everywhere; his whereabouts occasionally surfaced until eventually something major happened. The Tenth Generation Sect Master Ancestor secretly descended the mountain; somehow news leaked about his movements leading dozens of experts from Demon Sect to surround him—everyone around him fell one by one in battle—but at a critical moment this senior appeared and saved him while blocking off pursuers with his own body allowing Tenth Generation Sect Leader to escape back to our sect safely. At that time there was an unusual Spiritual Energy disturbance in that direction; later it became known that this senior self-destructed his Nascent Soul taking dozens of experts from Demon Sect down with him." Yue Changzi sighed deeply at this point: "A generation's hero thus fell silent. Afterward, Tenth Generation Sect Leader gathered experts from Immortal Sect's Eight Major Sects who rushed there but only managed to recover some remains..."
Li Hong listened in awe; this truly was a hero among heroes! Free-spirited across the world yet looking down upon all others—only such an ending is truly lamentable! But then he immediately thought about something crucial and asked: "Then how did Yue Que return to our sect?"
