"Up ahead are five Triangle Venom Pythons. Be careful of their poisonous mist and the three sharp horns on their heads; their weakness is at the center of those three horns!" Huang Yao, well-versed in knowledge about beasts, often identifies the weaknesses of the creatures attacking them right away.
Huang Ge wields a short dagger, which is entirely azure and named Azure Wind Dagger. It looks quite ordinary but is a coveted top-tier Treasure Artifact. Coupled with his training in the renowned Wind Element Supreme Technique known as Gathering Wind Technique, he finds it extremely easy to handle the Mutated Beasts in the Underground Palace.
Regardless of whether the attacking beasts are strong or weak, none can approach him within ten feet. As he swings the Azure Wind Dagger, invisible wind blades shoot out, and those beasts cannot react at all; in an instant, they are sliced in half.
In contrast, Cheng Ze and Zong Nan seem quite unadapted. Their Martial Techniques possess immense power but also consume too much Vital Energy. Faced with an endless onslaught of various Mutated Beasts, they quickly find themselves overwhelmed due to excessive Vital Energy depletion.
"I didn't expect Huang Ge to be this strong. Those invisible wind blades probably won't be noticed until they're right in front of you, and by then, it would be too late to dodge," Cheng Ze said, his face pale. If it weren't for Ye Feng and Huang Ge blocking most of the beast attacks, he feared he wouldn't even have a chance to catch his breath.
Zong Nan communicated telepathically: "After all, he is the Crown Prince of Qin. Both his Supreme Technique and that Treasure Artifact are not something ordinary martial artists can possess. Look at how calm he is; clearly, those wind blades don't consume much of his energy, allowing him to fight for a long time."
"This is just the outer area of the Underground Palace; how can there be so many Mutated Beasts? I wonder what dangers await us deeper inside," Zong Nan said solemnly.
"What are we afraid of? Wealth and danger go hand in hand. Whether it's Zhou Jun or those two Crown Princes of Qin, they must have plenty of trump cards. If things go south, there will be someone to hold it down; we’ll just adapt as needed," Cheng Ze replied dismissively.
The five fought their way through, leaving a trail of corpses behind until they finally reached an open area in front of the grand hall.
Looking up, everyone couldn't help but feel increasingly astonished because the ancient structure before them was simply colossal.
Not to mention the enormous Hall Door towering over a hundred feet high, even the steps leading up to the hall were nearly ten feet tall each, requiring some effort to leap up.
"What kind of place is this? How could there be such massive architecture? Were the Ancient Humanity who lived here giants ten feet tall?" Huang Yao murmured.
"What Ancient Humanity looked like is beyond our knowledge. However, given the current situation, it does seem possible. If that's true, just how powerful must those Ancient Humanity have been?" Zong Nan said gravely.
Ye Feng had already estimated the size of this hall and thus was not as shocked as the other four.
He glanced at the dusty door ahead and hesitated for a moment before saying, "Let's go up and take a look first; we don't know if the door is locked or if we have enough strength to enter."
Upon hearing this, everyone focused their minds, and within a few leaps, they had crossed the steps and arrived in front of the Hall Door.
After exchanging glances, the five of them joined forces and pushed against the gap in the middle of the Hall Door.
Creak!
All five possessed late-stage Origin Martial Realm cultivation. Together, their strength could move a small mountain a little distance, but the Giant Door before them only emitted a faint sound and remained completely still. No matter how hard they tried, aside from a cloud of dust falling, it did not budge at all.
"Use Vital Energy! But be careful of ambushes from beasts behind us." Clearly, relying solely on physical strength was insufficient to open this Giant Door. Ye Feng gritted his teeth and said decisively, channeling Earth Elemental Power.
His palm glowed with a yellow light. With the enhancement of Vital Energy, Ye Feng's force in pushing the door immediately doubled. The other four followed suit, infusing their Vital Energy into their arms.
The five glowing palms stood out prominently in the dark Underground Palace. However, strangely, the Mutated Beasts that had been appearing continuously along the way were nowhere to be seen now, as if they had vanished into thin air.
Buzz!
Suddenly, a green light flashed across the surface of the Giant Door, and then Ye Feng and the others felt a tremendous backlash force surging towards their arms.
"Not good, retreat quickly!"
Ye Feng shouted immediately.
The backlash was too powerful; if they resisted it head-on, it could injure their bones. Ye Feng pushed off with his feet and flew backward from the force, landing several dozen meters away before stopping.
The other four reacted swiftly as well. The moment the backlash reached their palms, they each executed their techniques to retreat and dissipate the force on their hands.
However, even so, their faces turned pale as paper, and Zong Nan let out a groan before spitting out a mouthful of blood.
"The rebound force is so strong. Is there some kind of mechanism on this door?" Huang Yao said with a grim expression.
"It seems that there is some kind of Restriction set on the door. When we used our Vital Energy, we accidentally triggered the Restriction inside," Huang Ge said, still feeling uneasy. He had nearly used sixty percent of his Vital Energy earlier, and the rebound force he experienced was three times that amount. If Ye Feng hadn't reminded him in time to withdraw and retreat, he might have ended up injured and spitting blood like Zong Nan.
Ye Feng took a deep breath and activated the Seven Transformations of Chaos Technique, gradually calming the restless Vital Energy within him.
The earlier rebound force had shocked him greatly because he had clearly used Earth Elemental Power, yet the rebound contained four other types of Vital Energy attributes.
Huang Yao and the others had only cultivated one type of Supreme Technique, so they were not sensitive to the mixed powers and only felt a strong force pushing them back. Ye Feng, however, was different; having practiced the Seven Transformations of Chaos Technique, he was highly attuned to any type of Vital Energy and could clearly detect the different attributes contained within the door's rebound force.
Realizing this while observing Huang Yao and the others, Ye Feng suddenly understood.
This rebound force actually combined everyone's strength.
Moreover, this power was evidently amplified; otherwise, they wouldn't have all been pushed back simultaneously.
What shocked Ye Feng even more was that similar halls were numerous throughout the Underground Palace complex. Could it be that every hall had a similar Restriction set?
"Why don't we just force our way through this door?" Cheng Ze thought bitterly. The presence of a Restriction on the door suggested that the master of the Underground Palace did not want anyone to enter. This implied one possibility: there must be extremely valuable treasures inside the hall.
"This is an ancient Restriction. If we force our attack, won't it bring even greater trouble?" Zong Nan wiped the blood from his mouth and said with a wry smile. "How about we check other buildings? Perhaps not every building has a Restriction."
Huang Yao immediately frowned and said, "The buildings in this Underground Palace are almost all similarly shaped halls. If we really want to find a hall without a Restriction, who knows how long it will take? Moreover, the stronger the Restriction, the more valuable treasures are likely locked inside. If you were the master of this Underground Palace, would you place your treasures in an unlocked room?"
Zong Nan's expression stiffened, unsure how to refute that.
Ye Feng observed the door for a long time before saying, "If it truly is an ancient Restriction, even if we force our way in, we may not be able to break through. However, as long as there is a Restriction, there must be a way to crack it; we just need to find the key to unlock it."
"Secret? Where can we find a secret? Let's just give it a try first! If you all are too scared, then I'll take the lead." Huang Ge was already showing signs of impatience. Without waiting for anyone's response, he leaped toward the large door ahead, spinning the Azure Wind Dagger in his hand, and five blades of wind shot out in an instant.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Five muffled sounds echoed as the wind blades shot from the dagger, striking the main entrance of the hall.
The thick layer of dust covering the door was blown away by the immense force of the wind blades, creating a cloud of gray that enveloped the entire Giant Door.
The Giant Door finally revealed its true form, appearing in a deep blue color, with intricate Patterns carved into its surface. A faint blue light flashed, and five gusts of wind sounded in everyone's ears.
The dust swirling outside was sliced apart, revealing crescent-shaped remnants—five invisible wind blades hurtling toward Huang Ge.
"Watch out!" Ye Feng reacted swiftly. The Lingfeng Sword was already in his hand without him realizing it. With a clang, he swiftly unleashed five sword lights.
The sword lights moved at incredible speed, arriving before the five wind blades that rebounded from the Giant Door. They collided mid-air with a series of explosive sounds.
The air trembled as circular shockwaves erupted one after another, scattering the dust completely.
Huang Ge's face turned pale; the rebounding wind blades were as fast as lightning, and he had no time to react. If it weren't for Ye Feng's timely intervention with his sword light, he would have likely fallen victim to his own Martial Technique.
With two sharp slaps, Huang Yao flew to his brother's side, showing no mercy as he scolded angrily, "You reckless fool! If you ever act on your own again, I'll take you down myself!"
Huang Ge, usually arrogant and domineering, dared not resist in front of his furious older brother.
"Brother Zhou, if it weren't for you this time, this kid might have..." Huang Yao looked at Ye Feng with gratitude in his eyes.
"No need to mention it," Ye Feng replied nonchalantly. He had anticipated that the Restriction on the Giant Door would retaliate, so he had prepared in advance. Although he was somewhat angry at Huang Ge's reckless actions, his attention was quickly drawn to the Patterns on the door.
Although complex and difficult to understand, the pattern converged into four circles, located at the top, bottom, left, and right of the Giant Door. Huang Ge accidentally struck the door, shaking off the dust and revealing the true form of the design.
In the center of the four circular patterns was a prominent hexagonal groove, approximately ten feet long and wide. Ye Feng speculated that an appropriate object needed to be embedded in the groove to open the door.
"We must find something that can fit into the groove," Ye Feng said, pointing at the indentation in the middle of the door.
Huang Yao sighed, "The Underground Palace is so vast; where are we supposed to find it?"
"Exploring ruins requires patience and caution. Rushing will easily trigger traps and Restrictions inside. Let's check out other halls; we might discover some clues!" Ye Feng suggested.
After witnessing the backlash effect triggered by the Restrictions, no one dared to attempt attacking the Giant Door again. They could only follow Ye Feng's advice and search elsewhere for leads.
Leaving the main hall, they returned to the Azure Stone Path, where the previously vanished Mutated Beasts reappeared and launched an attack on them.
Reluctantly, everyone raised their weapons once more.
Fortunately, this assault did not last long. As the Azure Stone Path widened further, they stepped onto a spacious avenue, and the attacks from the beasts finally ceased, completely vanishing from sight.
