"Wherever it is, if Sister Ning were to take action, there wouldn't be such trouble. I'm afraid she could have killed this Iron-tailed Crocodile with the first strike," Ye Feng said modestly.
Ning Ruoxue remained silent. Although the Iron-tailed Crocodile was only a Fifth-Grade Beast, it had been tainted by Demonic Energy, making it even more powerful. She could kill it, but it would not be that easy.
Grasping its weakness and timing the strike were fleeting moments; any slight delay would make the Iron-tailed Crocodile's formidable defense a headache for her. A direct confrontation would only consume more Vital Energy.
Although she had a trace of Fire Phoenix Bloodline flowing within her, fully unleashing it would give her slightly more strength than Ye Feng. However, if she were to deal with this Iron-tailed Crocodile, it would likely be far from easy.
Ning Ruoxue's thoughts were complex, and she seemed lost in them. Meanwhile, Xiao Bing was sulking beside the corpse of the Iron-tailed Crocodile. After muttering for a moment, she suddenly lifted a foot and kicked the corpse hard.
"Ouch?" The kick felt like hitting an iron plate; Xiao Bing's face turned red as she covered her foot and let out a delicate cry.
"Fool," Ye Feng said with a smile, shaking his head. He flipped over the Iron-tailed Crocodile's corpse and pulled out the Azure Dragon Sword from behind him, slicing open the body with one stroke.
The innards spilled out messily, startling Xiao Bing again. She jumped up high and hid beside Ning Ruoxue.
"Brother Ye, you're so mean!"
Ye Feng feigned an innocent expression before reaching out and summoning a blood-red demon core covered in black Demonic Energy into his hand.
"It really has been corrupted by Demonic Energy. I wonder if it has anything to do with that Demon Spirit," Ye Feng sighed lightly as he stored the demon core away. He turned to the two girls to say goodbye, found a direction, and flew off again.
Ning Ruoxue and Xiao Bing quickly followed suit, the three of them darting swiftly over the swamp's surface.
There were plenty of beasts in the swamp that showed no fear towards Xiao Bing, who possessed the aura of a divine beast. They occasionally launched attacks from beneath the water. Fortunately, they were all low-level beasts that the three could easily handle.
Basically all the swamp beasts had been corrupted by Demonic Energy, increasing their strength by thirty percent. They could also unleash Demonic Energy arrows similar to those of the Iron-tailed Crocodile, making them quite troublesome. Ye Feng often needed to use some spiritual energy to deal with these corrupted beasts.
An hour later, the three finally discovered the edge of the swamp.
"Up ahead is a dense forest, and the danger level inside may be even higher than that of the swamp. Everyone must be extra careful!" Ye Feng warned with a frown, leading the way onto the ground.
Before Ning Ruoxue and Xiao Bing could catch up, two shadows shot out from the tall grass, attacking Ye Feng.
"Tide Sound Sword Technique!" Ye Feng drew his sword like lightning, and a blue light swept through, severing the two shadows into several pieces that fell to the ground.
Upon closer inspection, they were two small snakes as thick as arms, pitch black and hissing.
"Phew, what kind of place is this? There are monsters everywhere, and they aren't afraid of me at all!" Xiao Bing said in surprise as she looked around, clearly dissatisfied.
"Seal Canyon is shrouded in an ancient seal. The monsters living here cannot leave, and outside monsters cannot enter. It is a world unto itself, free from external disturbances and human hunting. Naturally, there are several times more monsters here than outside. As for why they aren't afraid of you, it might be because they have already been corrupted by the Demonic Energy present in this place," Ning Ruoxue explained thoughtfully.
Ning Ruoxue, who had been silent until now, seemed to recall something important and said, "Since these monsters can be corrupted by Demonic Energy, why haven't we detected any traces of it? And if we stay here too long, will we also unknowingly become tainted by some Demonic Energy?"
Ye Feng pondered for a moment before replying, "It’s probably because we haven't ventured deep into the canyon yet that we haven't noticed any presence of Demonic Energy. I suspect it is closely related to Demon Spirit. Demon Spirit is formless and intangible; it can directly attack one's mind. We must not let our guard down!"
Ye Feng wasn't worried about being tainted by Demonic Energy since he practiced the Innate Spirit Summoning Technique, which allowed him to cultivate spiritual power. All signs indicated that spiritual power had a restraining effect on Demonic Energy, and Thunder Elemental Energy could have a similar effect.
After resting for a moment, a faint light began to appear on the horizon; dawn had arrived. Sunlight streamed through the gaps in the mountains into the canyon, bringing a glimmer of brightness.
Although Seal Canyon was isolated from Qiu Yang Secret Realm by an ancient seal, the sunlight and air within the secret realm were unaffected and could freely enter and exit the seal.
With this glimmer of light, Ye Feng noticed that at the peak of the sky, there seemed to be a faint white light curtain flickering at the visible horizon.
"Seal Canyon is surprisingly vast. It's just sealing an Ancient Demon Lord, so why seal such a large area? Doesn't that unnecessarily increase the difficulty of the seal?" Ye Feng was puzzled.
Ye Feng leaped high and landed on the crown of an ancient tree, gazing into the distance.
The dense forest covered the entire land, rolling and stretching endlessly toward the horizon. However, a few miles ahead, there was a clearing with a dilapidated stone tower standing tall in the center, particularly eye-catching amidst the sea of green.
"There’s a stone tower ahead. Let's go check it out; we might find the true location of the seal for the Shura Demon King!"
Ye Feng had a faint feeling that the situation in Seal Canyon was not as simple as it appeared. The largest layer of the seal might just be an outer seal, while the real seal was likely located at a specific point, with that strange stone tower in the clearing being the most probable candidate.
Ning Ruoxue and Xiao Bing naturally had no objections; they were already tired of the strong stench of decay in the forest and marshes and just wanted to leave this place as soon as possible.
Leading the way, Ye Feng and the two others ventured deeper into the forest, quickening their pace toward the direction of the stone tower.
The beasts in the depths of the forest were clearly more numerous than those in the marshy wetlands. Along the way, they were attacked by various beasts of different ranks. Not long ago, three leopard-like beasts suddenly leaped out from the bushes. Not only were they incredibly fast, but they also spewed out toxic mist that was highly poisonous. This mist not only had a strange toxicity that turned any trees it touched to ash but was also extremely viscous, making it difficult to disperse even with a strong gust.
The three poisonous leopards seemed to cooperate well, surrounding Ye Feng and his companions in a triangular formation. The toxic mist they emitted left no blind spots and infiltrated everywhere.
Fortunately, Xiao Bing acted promptly, using her innate cold power to freeze the toxic mist into light green ice chunks. Otherwise, if there had been any delay and they got contaminated by the mist, they would have been in serious trouble.
In the end, the three poisonous leopards were defeated one by one. It was Ning Ruoxue's first time taking action; with her movements, flames surged fiercely, nearly melting the frozen toxic mist again, which startled Xiao Bing into unleashing her cold energy once more to refreeze it.
The beasts in the forest had been corrupted and mutated by Demonic Energy, exhibiting various bizarre attack methods and strange techniques. The three did not dare to run recklessly and slowed down their pace to be more cautious.
After spending a full hour, as dawn broke over Summit and daylight illuminated the sky, it seemed that many beasts in the forest had suddenly diminished.
"These beasts have been corrupted by Demonic Energy and transformed into half-demon half-beast creatures; they seem to be somewhat sensitive to sunlight," Ye Feng thought to himself.
Three people rushed out of the dense forest and arrived at a clearing in front of a stone tower. Upon seeing the scene before them, they exchanged glances.
The clearing in front of the stone tower was not ordinary mud but had completely turned to sand, resembling a small desert. Centered around the stone tower, golden sand grains undulated, forming dunes that rose and fell like waves.
"How could there be a desert in the forest? This stone tower is quite strange!" Ye Feng whispered, activating his Soul Thought to delve deeper into the desert. He quickly discovered the hidden threats lurking within.
Concealed within the dunes were clusters of brown venomous scorpions tightly huddled together. Occasionally, low-level snake-like beasts would emerge from the sand, but as soon as they approached the edge of the dunes, they were swarmed by the ambushing brown scorpions and dragged into the dunes, torn to pieces.
Slaughter unfolded throughout the desert, but due to the cover of sand grains, the speed of the brown scorpions was astonishingly fast, making them difficult to detect.
Ye Feng was filled with uncertainty and thought to himself, "Deadly Sand Scorpions have always been solitary; why have they suddenly become social? It seems that Demonic Energy has not only altered the characteristics of these beasts but also affected their intelligence!"
"Why aren't we moving? The stone tower is right ahead!" Xiao Bing blinked her eyes, curiously gazing at this small patch of desert.
Having followed Tianyi Daoist around since childhood, she rarely encountered deserts and was quite intrigued by the scene before her. Just as she was about to step into it, she was pulled back by Ye Feng.
"Be careful; this desert is no joke. One misstep and you might not even know how you died!" Ye Feng said solemnly as he drew his Azure Dragon Sword. "Stay close to me and whatever you do, don’t get separated!"
Fortunately, this stretch of desert in front of the stone tower was only about half a mile long. With their strength, the three should be able to cross it safely.
Under Ye Feng's lead, the trio moved quickly across the sandy terrain. With his Soul Thought perception, Ye Feng navigated carefully, avoiding one hidden Deadly Sand Scorpion dune after another until they finally approached the stone tower unharmed.
After letting out a sigh of relief, Ye Feng retracted his Azure Dragon Sword and examined the stone tower closely.
The tower was not tall, only about twenty meters high with a diameter of roughly three meters. It had nine layers and appeared worn and dilapidated; when he brushed his hand against it, chunks of stone crumbled away.
After circling around the stone tower, Ye Feng felt quite disappointed. The tower had no doors or windows and offered no way to enter. Each layer was sealed tightly; it resembled a sacrificial tower used for honoring ancestral spirits rather than one meant for climbing.
"Let's go, there's nothing unusual about this stone tower!" Ye Feng turned to leave, but suddenly a loud explosion echoed from behind.
In shock, he turned back to see Ning Ruoxue punching out with her right fist, directly blasting a hole in the stone tower.
Stone debris flew everywhere, and Xiao Bing was caught off guard, getting covered in dust.
"Ruo Xue, what are you doing? You didn't even give a heads-up," Xiao Bing complained with a frown. Her body trembled as cold air surged from within, quickly shaking off the dust and debris that clung to her.
"This is bad, we need to hurry inside the tower!" The loud noise startled the Deadly Sand Scorpions hidden in the dunes, causing them to emerge from the sand in droves, charging towards the three with fierce momentum.
"Sorry, I sensed an eerie presence inside this stone tower that made me uncomfortable, so I punched it. I didn't expect..." Ning Ruoxue said shyly, sticking out her tongue and smiling at Ye Feng and Xiao Bing.
As they spoke, countless Deadly Sand Scorpions swarmed out, covering the entire desert. The sight was enough to make one's scalp tingle.
"Why are we still talking? Quickly get inside the tower and block the hole! Let's escape this disaster first!" With Deadly Sand Scorpions surrounding them from all sides, Ye Feng was the first to rush into the stone tower, followed closely by Ning Ruoxue and Xiao Bing.
Before long, the hole created by Ning Ruoxue was blocked by several large stones. The Deadly Sand Scorpions surrounded the entrance, continuously hissing and refusing to retreat.
