King Wu raised an army to attack Shang Zhou, and the tribal leader of the Barbarians, Bazi, who was unwilling to be oppressed, joined the righteous forces. The brave and skilled Barbarians laid the foundation for the final victory of the Zhou Dynasty army by defeating a larger force in the Battle of Muye. After this decisive battle that shaped the future of China, only over two hundred of Bazi's four thousand five hundred warriors remained.
After establishing Zhou Tianxia, King Wu, in gratitude for the sacrifices made by the Bazi clan, added an extra state when distributing titles to seventy meritorious subjects. Since the leader of the Barbarians was named Bazi, the state was called Bazi State, abbreviated as Ba State.
During the Spring and Autumn Period and Warring States Period, Ba State took advantage of the chaos in Central Plains to aggressively expand its territory. It annihilated several Jianghan Minor Lords and occupied their lands, forming a military alliance with Chu that directly threatened the Qin State, which was preparing to dominate the world.
In 314 BC, encouraged by King Qingxiang of Chu, the king of Ba State declared war on Qin State unilaterally and successfully breached Qin's fortifications, capturing over ten cities within Qin territory. At that time, Qin State had already transformed significantly; after Shang Yang's reforms, its national strength had grown increasingly robust.
Upon learning of Ba's military advance, King Huiwen of Qin, Ying Si, immediately appointed Sima Cuo as general and led one hundred thousand Qin Army soldiers to crush the invaders. Sima Cuo lured the Ba troops into a trap by exploiting their eagerness for quick success and disregard for the Qin Army's strength, annihilating Ba's main forces at Nanzheng. Eighty thousand enemy heads were taken as trophies along with countless weapons and armor.
King Huiwen of Qin was overjoyed and appointed Sima Cuo as General of Expedition to conquer Bashu. Sima Cuo did not disappoint King Huiwen's expectations; within three years, he subdued Ba State and captured its king. He then built a city at the former capital of Ba State in Jiangzhou (modern-day Chongqing) and established Ba Commandery to incorporate all of Ba State's territory into Qin State. Thus, after enduring eight centuries of tumultuous history, Ba State was completely destroyed.
These events from both the past and present were well-known to Zhou Tianzi Ji Yan and King Zhao of Qin Ying Ji. After ascending to the throne, King Huiwen of Qin Ying Si had met with the current emperor King Zhou She Ji Yan more than once, while King Huiwen was also the father of King Zhao of Qin Ying Ji.
Luzi was born in Jiangzhou County; it is certainly correct to refer to him as a person from Jiangzhou. At that time, Jiangzhou had long been the location of Qin State's Prefectural Office, so it is also reasonable to consider him a Qin person.
