After all, she had no connection with Jiang Chen. There was no need for Zhou Xuemei to share the Dong Family's anger, nor could she afford to do so.
Lin Jingzhu turned to Jiang Chen, inquiring about his thoughts.
Jiang Chen's expression remained calm as he replied, "Jingzhu, let's continue enjoying ourselves and not worry about these trivial matters."
"Um, Jiang Chen, this is not a trivial matter. If we truly offend the Dong Family, even Miss Yue might be powerless to help us. Miss Yue, don't you agree?" Zhou Xuemei said with a worried look.
Yue Hui nodded. Although she knew that Jiang Chen was ruthless, she still didn't want him to make enemies, so she added her voice to the persuasion: "Mr. Jiang, why don't we head back for now? There's no need to stoop to Dong Mingshui's level."
"I won't stoop to his level, but since he refuses to back down, then let's settle this matter once and for all," Jiang Chen said with a smile.
Seeing that Jiang Chen wasn't leaving, Yue Hui felt helpless.
More than an hour later, the sky suddenly turned overcast. Dark clouds gathered on the horizon, and light rain began to fall, creating countless ripples on the surface of West Lake.
This sudden change in weather caught the tourists off guard as they scrambled for shelter from the rain. The once-crowded West Lake quickly became sparse with visitors.
Jiang Chen's boat floated in the center of West Lake. The misty rain added a unique flavor to the scenery, but at that moment, only Jiang Chen had the mood to appreciate it. The others were worried as they noticed Dong Mingshui's boat was less than a hundred meters away.
"It's getting cold with the rain; we should head back," the elderly lady said.
"Jiang Chen, let's go back," Lin Jingzhu suggested.
Jiang Chen gazed out at the lake's surface. Through the hazy view, he suddenly spotted someone approaching under an umbrella.
"Master Dong's people have arrived; let's wait a bit before leaving," Jiang Chen said with a slight smile.
Upon hearing Jiang Chen's words, Yue Hui, Lin Jingzhu, and others followed his gaze and saw Mu Zhou drawing closer.
When they recognized who was on Mu Zhou, the elderly lady, Zhou Xuemei, and Lin Jingzhu widened their eyes in surprise. They had initially thought Dong Mingshui would bring dozens of people to deal with Jiang Chen; however, it appeared to be just an old man—wasn't that amusing?
To ordinary people, an old man was naturally not as formidable as a young one.
"Hey, isn't that Mr. Liu Chaowu from our Hangzhou Martial Arts Association? Why has Dong Mingshui invited him?" Yue Hui remarked in surprise upon seeing the elder. Due to her connection with Hu Yuan, Yue Hui had been exposed to martial arts from a young age. Having interacted multiple times with Liu Chaowu as the president of the Hangzhou Martial Arts Association, she remembered him as an approachable elder. Thus, seeing Liu Chaowu come to confront Jiang Chen made her feel somewhat reluctant.
"Miss Yue has a point; Old Liu is indeed a respected elder in the martial arts community and should not be offended. Jiang Chen, you must explain yourself well when he arrives," the elderly lady said seriously.
Jiang Chen smiled but did not comment further.
Liu Chaowu was merely at the Transcendence level; in Jiang Chen's eyes, he was nothing significant.
Yue Hui secretly worried and resolved to persuade Liu Chaowu against confronting Jiang Chen. She had heard about Liu Chaowu's martial arts prowess—he was a Master of Transformation—and previously regarded that level as top-tier talent. However, since the Songnan Martial Arts Gathering, her perspective had been elevated several levels.
Above Transcendence lay Divine Realm; last time Yan Xiaotian from Hongmen had shocked everyone with his strength—like a character from a fantasy drama—but even someone of Yan Xiaotian's Divine Realm caliber was insignificant in Jiang Chen's eyes.
Jiang Chen could easily defeat someone like Yan Xiaotian, a powerful figure from the Divine Realm, so Liu Chaowu, a Master of Transformation, was no match for him. Yue Hui was certain that with just a casual strike, Jiang Chen could send Liu Chaowu to his demise.
Zhu Kaijun and Dong Mingshui stood on the painted boat, and upon seeing Liu Chaowu finally arrive, Zhu Kaijun waved his hand and called out loudly, "Senior Brother!"
Liu Chaowu's Mu Zhou was still several meters away from Dong Mingshui's boat when he leaped lightly onto the water, gliding effortlessly before landing gracefully on Zhu Kaijun's boat. Fortunately, at that moment, the mist over West Lake obscured the view, preventing onlookers from witnessing this scene; had they seen it, their eyes would have surely widened in astonishment.
The elderly lady and Zhou Xuemei were indeed taken aback, while Lin Jingzhu, although shocked, managed to maintain her composure. After all, she had witnessed Master Xu's Paper Man technique at Jiang Chen's grandmother's birthday banquet the day before, making Liu Chaowu's water-walking skills somewhat easier to accept. As for Yue Hui, having attended the Songnan Martial Arts Conference in person, she was no stranger to such feats.
Liu Chaowu landed beside Zhu Kaijun and immediately asked, "Where is the brat who insulted our sect?"
"Senior Brother, it's that kid over there," Zhu Kaijun pointed at Jiang Chen.
Liu Chaowu's gaze pierced through the mist and rain as he fixed his eyes on Jiang Chen.
"Grandma, Miss Yue, Jingzhu, please wait here. I will take care of this matter," Jiang Chen said as he stood up and walked to the bow of the boat.
Seeing this, Yue Hui hurriedly followed him.
"Mr. Jiang, Old Liu is not a bad person; I hope you can show some mercy," Yue Hui said beside Jiang Chen.
"Don't worry; I won't kill anyone indiscriminately," Jiang Chen replied with a smile.
Hearing this reassured Yue Hui; as long as no one was killed, she felt relieved.
Suddenly, a deep rumble echoed across the dark sky followed by a flash of lightning striking down over Hangcheng. The rain began to pour heavily as if it were cascading in sheets.
Yue Hui sighed and quickly returned to the cabin for an umbrella. When she finally arrived back at Jiang Chen's side with the umbrella in hand, she noticed that a mysterious force seemed to emanate from him; raindrops were deflected away before they could even touch him.
Holding the umbrella aloft, Yue Hui stood obediently beside Jiang Chen.
On the painted boat amidst the heavy rain, Jiang Chen stood with his hands clasped behind his back at the bow while the beautiful girl sheltered him with an umbrella. The scene exuded an atmosphere reminiscent of a misty riverside adventure.
The elderly lady and others on the boat had initially looked worried but were now dumbfounded as they watched Jiang Chen standing in the downpour without a single drop touching him.
"Jingzhu, what is going on? How come not a single raindrop falls on your classmate? Where did he learn such incredible skills?" Zhou Xuemei asked with her mouth agape.
"I don't know either," Lin Jingzhu replied with a wry smile and a shake of her head. She had known Jiang Chen since childhood; they had been classmates throughout elementary and middle school and attended high school together. Yet she truly did not understand where his remarkable abilities came from. She felt equally astonished and bewildered by it all.
On another painted boat, Liu Chaowu, Zhu Kaijun, and Dong Mingshui stood at the bow. Liu Chaowu projected his Inner Energy, allowing him to keep the rain at bay. However, Zhu Kaijun's mastery of Inner Energy was not sufficient for that, so he had to hold an umbrella.
