After waking up, it was already four in the afternoon. Mo Ming and Ji Yue completed the discharge procedures and then found a place to have lunch before driving Ji Yue back to her residential community.
Just as Ji Yue opened the door, a large white dog rushed over, circling around Ji Yue, sticking out its crimson tongue and wagging its tail, seemingly very happy to see its owner.
What was most surprising was that the dog remained calm around Mo Ming, not barking or displaying any impolite behavior.
"Eleven, good boy, I'm sorry! You haven't starved these past few days, have you? It must have been boring without me at home," Ji Yue said as she squatted down to pet the dog's head, looking quite apologetic.
As if it understood Ji Yue's words, Eleven slightly tilted its head.
Mo Ming looked at this "rival" and couldn't help but smile wryly. He never expected that a formidable being like a Shura would compete with a dog; if anyone found out about this, they would surely laugh their heads off.
Mo Ming took a look around Ji Yue's home. Compared to where he had lived before, this place wasn't very large—three bedrooms and a living room—but it was decorated quite warmly. The furniture was mainly purple, and her bedroom's primary color was even more purple.
From this, it was clear that Ji Yue's favorite color was purple.
Initially, Mo Ming had wondered how Eleven hadn't starved during the days Ji Yue was away. It wasn't until he saw dog food scattered on the kitchen floor that he realized the dog had learned how to get food for itself. It even flushed the toilet after using it. He had to admit that this dog was quite intelligent.
"Would you like something to drink?" Ji Yue asked.
"What do you have? Is there any alcohol?" Mo Ming replied.
"I have a bottle of red wine that a friend gave me during the holidays. I haven't opened it yet. Would you like some?" Ji Yue said.
"Sure."
Ji Yue brought over the red wine and two glasses. Mo Ming took the wine, opened the bottle, and poured two glasses. He picked up his glass and shook it lightly, saying, "A 1982 Lafite. Your friend is quite generous."
"Yes, as long as he wants me to marry him, I can have a big house, a luxury sports car, and a maid!" Ji Yue said with a smile.
"Your suitor?" Mo Ming was about to take a drink when he heard Ji Yue's words. He immediately put down his glass and frowned.
"He used to be, but I didn't like him, so I didn't accept him. Then he married a top star from the entertainment industry," Ji Yue nodded.
"Good that you didn't accept him. There's not a single good person among the wealthy," Mo Ming said, satisfied with Ji Yue's attitude, smiling.
"Is that so?" A slight smile appeared on Ji Yue's face as she looked at Mo Ming and said, "Then you're quite wealthy too. I want to ask, are you a good person?"
"No, because I'm not anything special; I'm just a person," Mo Ming shook his head.
"Hmph, you're just being cheeky!" Ji Yue pointed at Mo Ming's nose and said, "Quickly confess how you got your money!"
"Captain Ji, are you interrogating a criminal?" Mo Ming asked.
"Uh-huh, if you're sensible, then quickly confess. Confession brings leniency; resistance brings harshness!" Ji Yue pouted and nodded.
"Alright, my money was all obtained through burning, killing, and looting. Captain Ji, you can arrest me for the sake of justice. It would be my honor to be sent to prison by your own hands," Mo Ming extended his hands as if inviting her to handcuff him.
"Great! Then I'll throw you in prison and make sure you never get out. That way, I can visit you often," Ji Yue said while holding Mo Ming's hands with a smile.
"Why do I have to be imprisoned to see you? Can't we see each other now?"
"Because only by imprisoning you will you belong to me alone," Ji Yue laughed.
"Then let me ask you, is this your cell?" Mo Ming asked.
"Yes, it seems you will have to stay here for a while," Ji Yue replied.
"That's fine, the environment is nice, I'm willing to surrender," Mo Ming said with a slight smile, looking at Ji Yue's lips, slowly moving closer.
At that moment, Shiyi Lang barked at Mo Ming.
"Uh, your Shiyi Lang is jealous!" Mo Ming said with a wry smile.
"It just sees someone trying to bully me, that's why it's acting this way," Ji Yue said, blushing. Although she said this, she was secretly complaining that Shiyi Lang was ruining the atmosphere.
Shiyi Lang continued barking at Mo Ming. Growing a bit impatient, Mo Ming shot a glare at Shiyi Lang, and it immediately fell silent.
Having spent years in bloodshed, Mo Ming's hands were stained with countless bloodsheds, and the killing intent in his eyes was palpable; even Shiyi Lang seemed to feel some fear.
Dogs are generally quite perceptive; perhaps it sensed the killing intent in Mo Ming's gaze and dared not continue barking.
"Look at you, you've scared my Shiyi Lang!" Ji Yue said with mild surprise. She then reached out to pat Shiyi Lang on the head and said, "Be good, go play over there. Otherwise, your Uncle Mo might eat you!"
"..." Mo Ming was left speechless.
Once Shiyi Lang walked away, Ji Yue immediately kissed Mo Ming on the lips, then stood up and said, "I'm going to take a shower!"
"Are you planning to leave after teasing me? Not a chance!" Mo Ming grabbed Ji Yue, who tried to escape but couldn't evade Mo Ming's grasp.
"What do you want?" Ji Yue asked.
Mo Ming lifted her effortlessly and said, "What else could I want? Of course, I’m going to teach you a lesson. Men should not be teased so casually!"
With that, he carried Ji Yue back to the room and slammed the door shut.
Mo Ming placed Ji Yue on the bed and immediately took off his shirt, revealing his muscular chest.
"What are you going to do?" Ji Yue's heart raced as she asked, feigning ignorance.
"What do you think?" Mo Ming replied with a mischievous smile. "Are you going to come willingly, or do you want me to help you?"
As he reached out, Ji Yue hurriedly said, "I'll do it myself..."
Her face flushed crimson as she lowered her head and removed her clothing, revealing a beautiful sight.
...
Mo Ming realized that he indeed had feelings for Ji Yue; it wasn't just about desire. It was love, and that love was consuming him uncontrollably.
It puzzled him when this feeling had taken root; he couldn't pinpoint the moment. All he knew was that he had fallen for Ji Yue.
What surprised Mo Ming even more was that despite all these years, Ji Yue was still a virgin. This revelation astonished him. Murong Lian, Lin Yuan'er, and Jun Qianqian were all young and still untouched, which wasn’t unusual. But Ji Yue was over thirty and had managed to keep herself intact all these years—this truly baffled Mo Ming.
From this, it is clear that Ji Yue is not a casual woman; her obsession with Mo Ming stems purely from love, not from any ulterior motive. She is captivated by Mo Ming's charm.
Once they touched, Mo Ming, having experienced intimacy, found himself completely defenseless. Thus, he possessed Ji Yue, making her his woman.
Mo Ming realized that since Qingmeng's departure, his emotional state had been suppressed. With Lin Yuan'er, Murong Lian, and Jun Qianqian, he had been passive, accepting things as they were, only to discover that he had already developed feelings for them.
In the case of Ji Yue, Mo Ming was in a similar situation. He never took the initiative to explore his own emotions and thus did not understand when he fell in love with Ji Yue.
Perhaps Ji Yue's injury last time awakened the buried feelings within Mo Ming, making him feel that no matter what, he would not allow Ji Yue to be hurt again. As long as she was his woman, no one in the world could harm her.
The wind stopped and the rain ceased.
"Ji Yue, can you promise me one thing?" Mo Ming asked as he looked at Ji Yue in his arms.
Ji Yue nodded and said, "Go ahead; I will agree to anything."
"Quit your job. I don't want to see you constantly in danger."
Ji Yue's expression changed as she frowned and replied, "You want me to stop putting myself in danger, but what about you? Aren't you also in danger? I want to help you; I don't want to be a vase beside you!"
"You are not a vase; you are my woman. I don't want my woman to be in dangerous situations. You need to understand that your safety affects my emotions. If something happens to you, I will go crazy." Mo Ming reached out to touch the corner of Ji Yue's mouth. Perhaps it was her seemingly everlasting natural smile that made him fall for a woman older than him.
Age is just a number; Mo Ming did not care how old Ji Yue was. Love is love, without any reason. After all, love is ambiguous and cannot be clearly defined; love with reasons is merely an exchange of interests.
"I don’t want to be unable to help you at all. If I were a police officer, at least if something happened in Nanhua City, I could assist you using my authority!" Ji Yue shook her head reluctantly.
She is not just a workaholic who only cares about her job; it's not that she is unwilling to give up her future, but rather that she hopes to be able to help Mo Ming when he needs it, instead of hiding behind and helplessly watching him face danger.
"I understand your thoughts, but I can't let you take risks for me. Once they know you are my weakness, they will use you to threaten me," Mo Ming shook his head and said. "Promise me, don't continue being a police officer. Don't make me worry about you."
"Alright, can you let me think about it a bit more?" Ji Yue said with a complex expression.
"I hope you can give me a satisfactory answer; I don't want to force you," Mo Ming nodded and hugged Ji Yue tightly.
In fact, Mo Ming has always had a weakness: he does not want to see the woman he loves in any danger. Having one Qingmeng is already enough pain for him; if another woman were to get into trouble because of him, he would never be able to forgive himself for the rest of his life.
"Mm." Ji Yue did not say much, closing her eyes and quietly enjoying the embrace that temporarily belonged only to her. She understood that after some time, Mo Ming would no longer belong solely to her.
Mo Ming, however, was troubled about how he should explain his relationship with Ji Yue to Murong Lian and the others.
Would they blame him?
Thinking about these troublesome matters gave Mo Ming a splitting headache. However, some things must be said eventually; he just wanted to find an appropriate time to have a good talk with Murong Lian and the others.
