In this battle of life and death, Luo Qianshan lost, not due to a lack of strength, but because of luck and his handling of details. Unfortunately, Mo Ming took a desperate gamble and won against all odds.
When Mo Ming's fist struck hard against his throat, blood spilled from Luo Qianshan's mouth. His eyes widened in shock; he couldn't utter a word, but the unwillingness in his gaze was evident.
Sadly, the victor is king while the loser is a bandit. No matter how much he resented it, there was no second chance to redo the events. As his consciousness faded, Luo Qianshan's heart was filled with regret; he lamented why he hadn't dealt with Mo Ming personally.
He clearly understood there was an ambush waiting for him and regretted coming here today. It was carelessness, arrogance, and a belief that everything was under control. Unfortunately, one misstep led to another; Leader played a brilliant game.
Luo Qianshan had not anticipated that Leader would see through his arrangements or that Leader would summon Death itself. One wrong move led to another; one piece misplaced resulted in total defeat. Everything was too late.
With a cough, Mo Ming spat out blood. Luo Qianshan's punch was heavy; while it wouldn't kill him, it inflicted severe internal injuries that would take weeks to recover from.
"Luo Qianshan, our hatred has vanished at this moment," Mo Ming said as he looked at the fallen Luo Qianshan, who lay with unblinking eyes. He suddenly felt a wave of relief wash over him.
The issue that had troubled him for years was finally resolved. The traitor Luo Qianshan was dead. He had avenged his brothers and Qingmeng. In this moment, Mo Ming's thoughts soared, and he barely felt the pain in his body.
"Brothers, Qingmeng, the one who betrayed us is dead. Those who killed you will soon pay a heavy price for their actions. Please watch over me from above; I cannot fall easily," Mo Ming murmured to himself.
Though the traitor Luo Qianshan was dead, the organization known as Dark Order that killed his comrades still existed. Mo Ming's burden remained; he still had a journey ahead—one whose length and outcome were uncertain.
Returning to reality from his thoughts, Mo Ming remembered Leader lying on the ground. He walked over and supported Leader's back with one hand while using his fingernail to press between Leader's mouth and nose. Before long, Leader regained consciousness.
When he awoke, Leader appeared dazed for a moment, furrowing his brow as he recalled what happened before losing consciousness. When he remembered Luo Qianshan, he grabbed Mo Ming's hand and asked urgently, "Where is Luo Qianshan? Did you let him go? You can't let him leave! If he escapes, Huaxia could be engulfed in war!"
In Leader's mind, the safety of the nation always came first. Even in perilous situations, his first thought remained the nation's security. With such a leader, how could Huaxia not soar?
"Luo Qianshan is dead," Mo Ming replied as he helped Leader to his feet.
"Dead? How did he die?" Leader asked in shock.
"I killed him," Mo Ming briefly recounted the events to Leader.
After listening to Mo Ming, Leader couldn't help but sigh, saying, "I never expected that Luo Qianshan was a major threat hidden among us. Mo Ming, you did well; I truly did not misjudge you!"
When Mo Zhentian and the others outside saw that it was Leader and Mo Ming who came out, their tense hearts finally relaxed.
The first thing everyone was concerned about was whether Leader was safe. When they learned that Luo Qianshan was dead and that Leader was unharmed, they felt relieved.
"Good job, kid! You didn't embarrass me!" Mo Zhentian slapped Mo Ming heavily on the shoulder.
At that moment, Mo Ming clearly felt the pain throughout his body; with that slap from Mo Zhentian, beads of sweat appeared on his forehead again.
"Old man, you're too rough; I feel like I'm going to fall apart from your slap," Mo Ming grimaced as he spoke.
"It looks like your injuries are serious. Once we get back, you need to stay home and recover properly. Don't think about running around; Qianqian is pregnant, and you need to spend more time with her," Mo Zhentian said.
"I'll stay home to recover without you telling me. In my condition, if I run around, I might just die," Mo Ming replied irritably.
He knew his body best; after the fight with Luo Qianshan, he had sustained severe injuries both internally and externally. If he didn't rest properly, it would definitely leave lasting problems in the future.
Mo Ming also wanted to take this opportunity to spend time with his three women while he healed.
"Thanks to Mo Ming this time; if Luo Qianshan had escaped, it would have been disastrous for Huaxia. After this incident, I believe everyone should understand the reasons behind Mo Ming's previous mission failure. He was wronged back then, and this matter must be handled seriously; otherwise, it will dishearten all those who have contributed to Huaxia," Leader said gratefully as he looked at Mo Ming and then spoke seriously.
All the senior officials of Huaxia nodded in agreement.
"Leader is wise," Mo Ming chuckled lightly, though his smile carried a hint of bitterness. He had waited a long time for this day; finally hearing Leader's words struck a deep chord within him—not for any glory but simply to rid himself of the invisible label of traitor hanging over him!
"You are a rare talent; if you ever want to come back and serve the country, I will always welcome you. But looking at how you're doing out there, it seems you won't be coming back. Regardless, whatever you do in the future, don't involve Huaxia's interests; don't make things difficult for me," Leader pointed at Mo Ming and then smiled kindly, revealing his smoke-stained yellow teeth.
"Hey, Leader understands me. I've been away from the military for too long; I've lost all my military demeanor. Returning to the troops would only spoil the atmosphere, which isn't good. Besides, where can't I serve the country? I pay taxes every year," Mo Ming continued with a chuckle.
"Enough. If you don't want to come back, I won't force you," Leader said curtly, then turned to Number Two: "We need to discuss our strategy regarding today's events. Also, we still have many of Luo Qianshan's accomplices here that must be strictly dealt with. You all better understand the rules of the Understood party: confessing will lead to leniency, resisting will lead to severity. If someone turns themselves in, they can be treated leniently; if they are exposed, they can't blame me for being ruthless."
Leader's cold gaze swept across everyone's faces.
Many were calculating their own interests; those who weren't part of Luo Qianshan's faction were thinking about their own benefits, while those who were part of it felt anxious, fearing they might be exposed.
In the conference room, Luo Qianshan's body had been cleared away. Leader convened an emergency meeting focused on how to resolve the issue with Luo Qianshan. The attendees were few: only Leader, Number Two, the Grim Reaper, Mo Zhentian, Huang Zifeng, and some who had accused Luo Qianshan during today's meeting. The others had been detained. Until it was clear who among them was associated with Luo Qianshan, Leader preferred to err on the side of caution.
Mo Ming was assigned to a room in Zhongnanhai.
The meeting lasted into the night without conclusion, and he couldn't grasp what was being discussed. Regardless, it continued on. Injured and unable to sit up comfortably, Mo Ming could only lie in bed recuperating, but his mind was racing with thoughts about everything that had happened that day.
Today’s words from Luo Qianshan made him realize the importance of Stone to the "Dark Order" organization. At the same time, he felt a deep concern; analyzing Luo Qianshan's statements suggested that the "Dark Order"’s plans were surfacing—controlling the world and establishing a new nation without racial discrimination or borders.
If such words had come from anyone else, Mo Ming would have thought them insane. But since they came from Luo Qianshan, he couldn't help but believe that what the "Dark Order" had been plotting was indeed to create a new nation!
If someone as high-ranking as Luo Qianshan was part of the "Dark Order", then it's likely that other high-ranking officials in various countries are also affiliated with them. If these individuals completely seize control of a nation's power, uniting to establish a new nation wouldn't be a mere fantasy.
However, there were many aspects that puzzled Mo Ming. Why would someone in a position as high as Luo Qianshan work for the "Dark Order"? What benefits would establishing a new nation bring them? What is the identity of Eternity? What influence does Stone have on their plans?
These questions plagued Mo Ming. He tried different perspectives to find answers but dismissed many possibilities. However, after analyzing his dealings with the "Dark Order" over recent years, he finally arrived at a convincing conclusion: perhaps the "Dark Order" possesses a method for achieving Eternal Life, using this to recruit powerful individuals to serve them.
Only this answer could reasonably explain why someone of Luo Qianshan's stature would risk eternal disgrace for the "Dark Order", and considering his age and what he said, this explanation was indeed impeccable.
Eternal Life. This conclusion seemed absurd yet was also the most persuasive one. When a person possesses many things, their only desire becomes how to live forever; only by living can one continue to hold onto those things.
Many people are not afraid of death, but if given the choice to live forever, everyone would undoubtedly choose immortality. No one is tired of living, except for those foolish enough to seek their own demise. Luo Qianshan must have betrayed the country in pursuit of Eternal Life.
As Mo Ming pondered these thoughts, there was a knock at the door.
Mo Ming collected his thoughts and quickly got out of bed to open the door.
The visitor was the Grim Reaper.
"Master, what brings you here?" Mo Ming asked with a smile.
"It has been a while since we last talked. I had no plans tonight, so I thought I would come by and chat with you." Perhaps due to always maintaining a cold and aloof demeanor, the Grim Reaper's smile was not very pleasant; it even appeared somewhat stiff. However, Mo Ming understood that the Grim Reaper's smile was a rare treasure, even if it wasn't particularly attractive.
"What a coincidence! I was just planning to wait for you to finish your meeting so I could come find you to chat. I didn't expect you to come first. Don't just stand at the door; please come in and sit!" Mo Ming smiled and said.
The Grim Reaper nodded and walked into the room. Mo Ming promptly closed the door behind him and immediately went to pour a glass of water for the Grim Reaper.
