In a room filled with countless medical devices, Mo Ming lay on the bed, having just regained consciousness. His expression was calm, but his chest was covered with various medical instruments used to monitor his internal condition. The heart rate monitor beside him showed no abnormalities.
The attending physician had stated that Mo Ming was out of danger, but he had severely exhausted his physical strength and needed some time for his body to recover. During this period, Mo Ming's energy primarily relied on the glucose solution hanging nearby.
The room was relatively dark, illuminated only by the lights from the medical equipment. There was no one present to notice that Mo Ming's brow furrowed suddenly, as if he were in discomfort, yet he made no sound.
After a while in this state, Mo Ming returned to a serene expression. No one knew what had just happened; he had shown signs of great pain while unconscious.
With a soft creak, the door opened gently.
Liufeng and Poisonous Peak stepped quietly into the room, intending to check if Mo Ming had awakened. Upon seeing him still lying motionless on the hospital bed, disappointment washed over their faces.
"Is this doctor really capable? Didn't he say that the boss just needed to rest for a while due to exhaustion? But it's been over ten days now; why hasn't he woken up yet?"
Poisonous Peak felt a surge of anger thinking about how the doctor had confidently assured them that Mo Ming would wake up after a few days of rest. He wanted to grab the doctor and give him a good beating to vent his worries.
"Don't worry; the boss is tough. There's no way he could just give up like this!" Liufeng said with a wry smile. "You don't need to be too concerned; look, his heart seems fine. Just wait a bit longer; he'll probably wake up soon."
In truth, Liufeng was trying to reassure himself. He was very worried that Mo Ming might remain in this state indefinitely, like a vegetable without any awareness. However, he refused to let himself think that way; he believed Mo Ming would definitely wake up.
"Old Pervert, are you sure you're not just lying through your teeth? … Damn it, how can you still find it funny at a time like this?" Poisonous Peak glared at Liufeng but noticed a hint of a smile on Liufeng's face. The thought that Mo Ming was still lying in bed while Liufeng seemed to be joking around made him feel particularly annoyed.
"Boss!" Liufeng exclaimed joyfully.
"Enough! Don't mess with me!" Poisonous Peak had no interest in playing around with Liufeng.
"I'm not messing with you! The boss really is awake!" Liufeng couldn't help but laugh as he cursed.
"If you're joking with me, even if I can't beat you, I'll still jump on you and hit you..." Poisonous Peak thought Liufeng was playing tricks on him but turned back toward the bed anyway and found that Mo Ming had actually sat up.
"Why do I feel like the boss isn't awake?" Poisonous Peak forced a bitter smile. Upon closer inspection, Mo Ming was no longer lying still, but his eyes were vacant, as if he were sleepwalking. He sat on the bed without looking in their direction.
"I don't understand what's wrong with the boss either, but let's not disturb him for now. Let's see what's going on," Liufeng noticed something was off with Mo Ming and immediately reminded Poisonous Peak.
"Alright, let's not call him for the time being. Let him discover us on his own," Poisonous Peak agreed, nodding and then staring intently at Mo Ming.
Mo Ming sat up for a while, completely motionless, seemingly unaware of Liufeng and Poisonous Peak in the room. It was unclear whether he was severely exhausted to the point of brain oxygen deprivation, leaving him dazed and expressionless.
This state continued for quite some time, and Liufeng and Poisonous Peak's patience was wearing thin. Just as they were about to find a doctor to check on Mo Ming's condition, he finally moved.
The blanket covering him was shaken off, and Mo Ming began to perform strange movements on the bed, one after another. Liufeng and Poisonous Peak watched in astonishment; it was hard to imagine when Mo Ming had signed up for a physical training class, as these movements looked so bizarre.
In fact, these movements were learned from an ancient book given to him by Lord Qian. As for their practical purpose, Mo Ming had no idea; he just felt that after completing this set of movements, he would be utterly drained of energy and too tired to move.
However, after the fatigue passed, Mo Ming found himself unusually energized, with a slight increase in strength. Therefore, whenever he had time, he would perform this set of movements. But now, seeing Mo Ming involuntarily doing these actions was indeed strange.
After finishing the movements, Mo Ming sat cross-legged, his head drooping before suddenly lifting it with an unusual expression as he turned to look at Liufeng and Poisonous Peak: "When did you two arrive?"
"Damn it, boss! I've been here for a long time! You just noticed us now? What were you doing earlier? It was really weird; you were doing a series of strange movements. I thought you were possessed!" Poisonous Peak felt both relieved and frustrated upon seeing that Mo Ming was fine; he couldn't believe that after standing there for so long, Mo Ming only just realized they were there.
"I honestly don't know what I was doing. When I came to my senses, I noticed someone watching me from behind. By the way, what did you see me doing?" Mo Ming asked with a wry smile; he truly didn't understand what had happened—he only knew he had a very strange dream.
In the dream, Mo Ming stood before his tombstone and saw many people crying for him: Murong Lian, Lin Yuan'er, Jun Qianqian, and a group of brothers and family members all weeping inconsolably.
"We saw you doing a series of strange movements!" Poisonous Peak rolled his eyes dramatically and said, "Boss, are you sure you're not messing with us?"
"I'm not that bored!" Mo Ming shot Poisonous Peak an annoyed glance before lying back down on the bed. "I'm so tired; I'd rather just talk while lying down."
"Boss, you've been asleep for over ten days! How can you still be tired? I'm worried your kidneys might be failing..." Poisonous Peak chuckled mischievously.
"You really messed up your kidneys!" Mo Ming said irritably, and then seemed to remember something, exclaiming, "Wait, did you say I've been lying here for over ten days?"
"Yeah, I thought you were having some good dreams and didn't want to wake up!" Liufeng nodded.
"I remember after finishing with Evil Eye, I was really exhausted, so tired that I couldn't keep my eyes open. After that, I don't remember anything," Mo Ming recalled, realizing there was a gap in his memory. He couldn't help but ask, "By the way, what happened after I fell asleep? How many of our brothers sacrificed?"
"Not long after you fell asleep, the leader of the Dragon Group, Huang Feng, came with a bunch of police. The people brought by Evil Eye were all wiped out, and the Hong Gang members were detained by the police. As for our sacrificed brothers..." Liufeng's gaze dimmed as he slowly said, "Over a hundred brothers died."
Hearing that number, Mo Ming's expression also darkened. He sighed heavily and said, "May the fallen brothers have a good life in another world. Liufeng, where are we now?"
"Someone's coming!" Mo Ming whispered.
Just after Mo Ming finished speaking, faint footsteps could be heard outside the door. Soon after, Huang Feng's voice came through: "Of course, you're in a safe place!"
"Damn, someone really is coming!"
Liufeng and Poisonous Peak stared blankly at Mo Ming. If it weren't for Huang Feng's footsteps getting closer to the room, they wouldn't have noticed anyone approaching. But how did Mo Ming know someone was coming?
They now realized that Mo Ming had indeed changed a bit since waking up. A strange glint passed through Liufeng's eyes as if he thought of something but chose not to speak up.
Before long, Huang Feng appeared in the room alongside a short-haired woman.
The woman's demeanor was quite impressive; however, her face was as cold as ice and her eyes held a hint of murderous intent. It was better to keep a respectful distance from such a woman; getting too close wasn't wise.
"Director Huang, this time we owe it all to you. If you hadn't arrived with your team in time, we would have faced total annihilation," Mo Ming said with a slight smile.
"After all, you're Commander Mo's son. If your father found out I refused to help you, my life would be miserable! But you guys are pretty impressive too; with so few people, you managed to hold out for so long and even took down Evil Eye. I'm impressed!" Huang Feng looked at Mo Ming with admiration.
"Heh. Director Huang, there's no need to talk about admiration. Having more people doesn't matter much; as long as the firepower is strong enough, that's what counts," Mo Ming replied with a smile and shook his head.
"As soon as we mention this, I have to talk to you seriously. Damn it, who told you to secretly purchase Arms? If the higher-ups find out, not only will you be in trouble, but Commander Mo will also face consequences!" Director Huang said with a serious expression. "Mo, you can't do this again!"
"Hahaha... What are you afraid of? I'm not too worried, after all, isn't Director Huang here to back me up?" Mo Ming laughed heartily, resting his hands behind his head and showing no intention of getting up to greet guests.
Come on, he was already exhausted; it was a miracle he wasn't face down asleep. Expecting him to get up and be polite was even more difficult than climbing to the sky!
"I can protect you this time, but that doesn't mean I can do it a second time. After all, there are risks involved. I can't keep saying that you are a special forces unit sent by the state to eliminate a criminal gang!" Huang Feng rolled his eyes dramatically and said irritably.
"Alright, Director Huang, don't worry. I promise I'll use it discreetly from now on!" Mo Ming chuckled a few times before looking at the woman beside him and asking, "Who is this? Why do I feel like her gaze isn't very friendly?"
"Uh, she's your fan, Su Yanyu, and also a member of our Dragon Group," Huang Feng explained with a wry smile. "Don't take it personally; she just can't accept the reality of the situation."
"What?" Mo Ming was confused. Since she was his fan, why did she seem displeased?
Poisonous Peak and Liufeng seemed to understand what was going on and exchanged knowing smiles.
"Boss, actually Sister really admires you. She always thought you were a mature, cunning, and charismatic man. But seeing you like this... well, she's quite disappointed. I think I don't need to spell it out; you should get my meaning." Liufeng explained while laughing.
