Mo Ming sat at the bar, took a small sip of his drink, then pulled out a cigarette from his pocket. After lighting it, he began to exhale clouds of smoke. His deep-set eyes scanned the room before finally settling on a man in a black jacket with a stylish pompadour hairstyle dyed silver. This man was the boss of the "Nightshade" bar, Wild Horse.
At that moment, Wild Horse was having quite a wild time, twisting his body around several alluring women in the venue. His expression was not one of lust; instead, it was the women surrounding him who wore flirtatious smiles, exuding an alluring charm that seemed to emanate from their very bones. To please Wild Horse, they showcased all their seductive skills.
As for women who sold their bodies for attention, regardless of their beauty, Mo Ming couldn't be bothered to spare them a glance. He immediately shifted his gaze away and took another sip from his glass.
"Bro, the usual!"
A young man sat down at the bar and called out to the bartender.
The bartender, a man in his thirties, understood the request and smiled back at the young man. He quickly began mixing the drink that the young man wanted. His movements were very skilled; such proficiency could only come from countless hours of practice. Soon enough, the drink known as "Loyalty and Righteousness" was served.
"Here you go, buddy."
The young man raised the prepared "Loyalty and Righteousness" drink and downed it in one go. The intensity of the alcohol made him cough a few times, but soon after, a satisfied expression appeared on his face. "Wow... 'Loyalty and Righteousness' really packs a punch! This drink truly matches what I envision as 'Loyalty and Righteousness.' Too bad, sigh..."
Mo Ming found himself intrigued by the young man's words and took a closer look at him.
The young man was dressed casually in blue jeans paired with a blue denim jacket. His bangs were short, barely covering his eyebrows. He had a handsome appearance with some star potential; however, an earring in his left ear added a bit of rebellious flair that wasn't off-putting.
The bartender chuckled at the young man and said, "The name of the drink is just a label. Drinking should reflect your feelings; just go with the flow. It's like listening to music—when you’re in the right mood for a song, it resonates deeply; otherwise, you won’t feel much."
"Oh, there's some artistic flair there," the young man replied with amusement. "Are you an arts major?"
"That's right."
The bartender beamed with pride as he wiped down a glass and continued chatting casually. "I have a Bachelor's Degree; bartending is just one of my hobbies, you know?"
"Ha, a Bachelor's Degree?"
The young man waved his hand dismissively and said, "That thing is optional. I’ve been doing just fine without it. I think a Social Diploma is what really matters; everything else is just fluff!"
"Oh."
The bartender mimicked the young man's tone, teasingly saying, "Looks like you graduated in social studies too; you have quite an open view of the world."
"Heh, of course! I've been in the game since I graduated from middle school, over ten years now. I've seen it all!"
The young man chuckled and began to boast about his experiences, saying, "In this world, knowledge isn't everything; skills are what truly matter. And then there's connections. If you're in this society, having a good boss... well, never mind, I won't get into it. It just makes me angry."
"Oh?" The bartender asked curiously, "Is your boss treating you poorly?"
"Bullshit!"
The young man was slightly annoyed and swore, "Damn it, my boss treats me well! If it weren't for him, I would have been killed by some Wretch years ago!"
"From what you're saying, your boss seems pretty decent."
The bartender nodded and said, "So why the sigh? Your boss treats you well; isn’t that good?"
"That bastard Zhuge Sheng thinks my boss is a traitor. Damn it!"
The young man was filled with indignation and said, "Based on my boss's character, I would bet my life on it—he would never kill Lord Qian. Someone must be framing him!"
Upon hearing the young man's words, the bartender's expression changed several times. He looked around cautiously and then whispered, "Shh, it's better if you don't mention this. Be careful; trouble can come from your mouth..."
After saying that, the bartender didn't dare to continue the conversation to avoid getting into trouble and quickly returned to his work.
Mo Ming heard everything clearly. The "boss" the young man mentioned was He Yunsong. However, what surprised Mo Ming was that even in He Yunsong's difficult times, there were still subordinates willing to stand up for him. This young man instantly left a good impression on Mo Ming, sparking his interest.
"Hey, handsome, I see you’re here drinking alone again tonight."
Just as Mo Ming was about to speak, a flirtatiously dressed woman walked over, swaying her hips. Her bare arms casually draped over the young man's shoulders, and her heavily made-up Dan Feng Eyes were constantly giving him seductive glances.
Unfortunately, the young man remained unmoved, his expression even showing some disgust as he coldly replied, "Drinking alone is a form of enjoyment. Do you understand?"
"Wow, you have quite the fiery temper..." After a pause, the woman smiled seductively and said, "But I like it when handsome guys like you act all aloof. So, how about it? Aren't you going to buy me a drink?"
"Sorry, I'm gay. Not interested in women, especially not in bar women!"
The young man sneered and pushed her hand away.
"You've got guts!"
Feeling slighted after being rejected, the woman pointed angrily at the young man and said, "You’ve offended me; you won’t have a good time for this! If you have the guts, don’t leave!"
"Two words: Ha ha."
The young man yawned nonchalantly and said, "Hurry up and find your backup; I’ll just sit here waiting for you. Hurry up; I might fall asleep."
"Fine! You’re quite arrogant; let’s see if you can still be so cocky later!"
With that threat, the woman stormed off, her chest heaving with anger.
The young man didn’t leave; instead, he continued sitting there as if nothing had happened. He didn’t order any more drinks but casually scanned the room. When he noticed Mo Ming nearby, he smiled and said, "Brother, I estimate there’s going to be a fight here soon. You’d better move away; being caught in the crossfire wouldn’t be good for you. I’d feel guilty."
"Where should I go?"
Mo Ming suddenly felt that this guy resembled himself a bit, the corners of his mouth slightly curling up as he said, "I came here to drink, and I haven't had enough yet. Why are you walking away?"
"Hehe, just a heads up, don't come looking for me for medical expenses if you get hurt later," the young man smirked.
"I won't."
Mo Ming snapped his fingers and said to the bartender, "Make another 'Loyalty and Righteousness' for this friend!"
"Sure," the bartender replied.
The young man smiled slightly and said, "Thanks!"
"You're welcome!"
As another 'Loyalty and Righteousness' was served, just as the young man was about to take a sip, someone heavily patted his shoulder, causing the drink to spill out of his cup.
Just as the young man was about to explode with anger, a voice came from behind him.
"I thought someone was bullying my wife; turns out it's you, kid."
The young man held back his anger and turned to look at the speaker—a burly man whose face immediately filled with disgust. He coldly said, "Bear Dog, I thought someone's wife was selling herself; turns out it's yours? Hehe, sorry, I didn't know. If I had known, I would have definitely taken advantage of her and gifted you a nice hat."
"Brother Bear, look at this; not only is this kid insulting me, but he's also insulting you," the woman who had been leaning against Bear Dog now playfully complained. "You have to teach him a good lesson."
Bear Dog immediately flew into a rage and shouted, "Bastard, are you looking for death?"
"Who are you calling a bastard?"
The young man scratched his ear and teased.
The brother who followed Bear Dog immediately got angry, pointing at the young man and saying, "You little brat, your mouth stinks too much; I'll give you a good cleaning!"
"Hah, the emperor is not in a hurry, but the eunuch is!"
The young man curled his lips in disdain and said to Bear Dog, "Bear Dog, you coward. Back when you followed Yun Song, now that he's in trouble, you've gone to that bastard Yang Fan. You even bring people to look for Yun Song everywhere. Pfft, a traitor seeking glory! If you hadn't come today, it would have been fine, but since you did, if I don't beat you like a dog, I wouldn't be honoring Yun Song!"
"Hmph, you're asking for it! Brothers, beat this kid to death!" Bear Dog stepped back a few paces with the woman he was with and gestured to his companions to take action.
The younger brothers who were ready to fight immediately charged forward like hungry wolves.
"Bring it on!"
The young man's eyes turned sharp. Facing the group of attackers, he remained unusually calm. With a swift movement, he charged forward and threw a punch that knocked one of the younger brothers to the ground. Another attempted to sneak up from behind but ended up being thrown over his shoulder.
Mo Ming had initially planned to help the young man, but after seeing him in action, he quickly dismissed that thought. The young man's strength wasn't particularly impressive; however, he had practiced some Jeet Kune Do, which was more than enough to handle these low-level thugs from the Little Green Society. There was no need for Mo Ming to intervene.
Before long, the young man had knocked Bear Dog's subordinates down.
"Too easy!" The young man clapped his hands and looked at Bear Dog with disdain. "Bear Dog, it's your turn now. Don't tell me you're a coward!"
Bear Dog actually felt a bit intimidated. He knew he was no match for the young man in terms of strength. With his subordinates already on the ground and the young man still taunting him, if he didn't step up now, he'd surely be mocked by others in their circle. Gritting his teeth and spurred on by the woman beside him, Bear Dog decided he couldn't lose face and prepared to fight back.
"What kind of bastard is causing trouble here?"
At that critical moment, Wild Horse stepped out from the crowd with an angry expression. He glanced at the young man and then at Bear Dog and said, "You two kids have some guts; where are you from?"
"Sorry, Mad Horse, I'm with Yang Fan..."
Bear Dog lowered his head in apology, but Wild Horse didn't give him a chance to finish. He slapped Bear Dog across the face and said, "So what if you're with Yang Fan? You're blocking my way to making money; do you want to die?"
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry..." Bear Dog kept apologizing.
Wild Horse ignored him and looked at the young man, saying, "Who are you with?"
"I'm with Yun Song!" the young man replied fearlessly.
Upon hearing this, Wild Horse furrowed his brows tightly and asked, "What is your name?"
"Qi Miao!" the young man answered without hesitation.
Mo Ming had just lit a cigarette and was eager to watch the show. Hearing the young man announce his name nearly made him choke. He coughed a few times, and the corners of his mouth involuntarily curled up as he continued to watch the impending drama unfold.
What a coincidence? Mo Ming and Qi Miao!
Not for any other reason, but because of this kid's name, Mo Ming had to ensure he was safe tonight. If Wild Horse were to lay a hand on Qi Miao here, then this outer leader of the Little Green Society would be forever lost on the streets!
